I'm a loyal gal. When my taste-buds find something they like, they want it over...and over...and over...and over...annnnnd you get the point.

In this particular case I am specifically talking about the blended strawberry froyo that's made with real frozen strawberries and no added sugar! I'm sure the other flavours taste good a well, but I can't say as I haven't been tempted to try anything else in the past 10+ years. See, I wasn't kidding about the loyal part.

It's a notsoguiltypleasure that is easy on the hips (~150cal/medium serving) and a godsend for a gal that has a hard time eating "healthy food" because lets face it... most of the time it tastes like gak.

Full fat ice cream and I broke up a long time ago. It just couldn't stand up to the tangy goodness that is frozen yogurt...and with a plethora of froyo places offering up their twist on this healthy frozen treat, I've never bothered looking back.

Years ago when I lived in Victoria, we lost every Yogen Fruz. I spent years under the impression they went out of business, when one day I was strolling through Metrotown and saw YOGEN FRUZ. I literally screamed and made a b-line.

I cannot speak highly enough of this place. You pick your yoghurt (fat free, vanilla, etc), the fruit you want blended with it (all actual fruit), and then lastly you can pick toppings if you like. I always go with no fat, blackberries and coconut on top. SO SO SO good.

Honestly the best frozen yoghurt I have ever had and I'm sad they don't seem to be doing well! The library location is no more :(

I have never tried frozen yoghurt. This was my first. Ohhhhhh mmmmmmmmy gosh! New addict! And it's healthy?! *Eyes slowly enlarge, brain cannot comprehend*

Ok, so this mall is bustling full, but the queue moved quick. I got to the front and was like "Urrr!" with all the choice, so chose one of the meal suggestions - espressio with choc flakes. I was expecting a ice cream taste, but yes, it's yoghurt you fool! I was so...different. Tangy and sweet! My taste buds were confused, but interested, more they said!

Next time, I will try a more 'natural' one, with fruit :)

I'll usually make a pit stop at Yogen Fruz whenever I'm back in Vancouver and shopping at my favourite mall. They have great fruit blended yogurts, which I haven't seen much of in the States. You can choose from low-fat, non-fat, and reduced sugar bases. At ~110 calories per serving, it's hardly a guilty pleasure.

I like that blended froyo allows you to create whatever flavours you want. I usually get mine with matcha green tea and lychee/blueberries. The matcha flavour's really great and adding the fruit makes me feel healthier. On my most recent visit I got a chocolate chai blended yogurt topped with sliced almonds (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...). It was creamy and the chai flavour reminded of Christmas. I also really liked the crunch from all the almonds.

However, I do have one big complaint--the inflated prices. Each fruit you add to your blended froyo sets you back 75¢, which can add up quickly. Toppings, of course, are also extra. $5 is more than what I'd like to spend on a quick snack at the mall. I could go to McDonald's and just get a soft-serve cone for a lot less.

Also, when is Vancouver gonna catch on to the self-serve froyo craze???

There's no place like the yogen fruz taste - I usually get the strawberry and hubby likes the cheesecake flavour. I just saw the menu today, which looked enticing with fruits included. I have come to the metrotown and oakridge location for years and years and the quality is very good. The reason for 3 stars instead of 4? While lining up today, a lady budged in front and the cashier took her order instead of indicating a line had started the other way. Rather than bother with a situation, I walked off and had an Orange Julius Strawberry Banana drink instead. Satisfied the sweet taste for the day and will try the Oakridge location when I have my next craving.
