Review from Emily S.
Vancouver, BC
I really like this space. There are ups and one down.
The bad news: It's expensive. For how many classes they offer and the monthly fee, I think it's on the higher end for Kitsilano.
The good news: The space is beautiful and calming, the class size is small, it's easy to sign up for a class (even the day before), and the instructors are really good. If you like a more beginner/gentle yoga, most of the classes are for you. They also offer Pilates twice a week, which I personally enjoy.
The instructors: I signed up for a week and I only had a chance to be guided by a few instructors. Before coming here, I found myself to be stressed by yoga, because I had to get all the right moves at the right time and I am competitive. Hanne made yoga fun for me again, she teaches Hatha. Siobhan was great, too, she reminded us to do as we wished, she was just our guide. Tara who teaches Pilates was great, you really don't feel what you've done until the next day!
I think the week was $35 unlimited, so it's a good chance to try before you really buy into it. Also, they provide mats, all the props, blanket, and tea/water for each class. -
Review from Karen R.
Yogacara is a really interesting space. It's quite nice but a bit on the squishy side. The cubbys are next to the mats and the change rooms are little. The yoga space itself is quite beautiful and the mats/props are all pretty new so that was nice to see. They close the blinds and lock the front door as we are all on display for any passersbys to see. The tea room is pretty with comfy seats and lots to look at.
Our instructor was really warm and welcoming and her gentle hatha class tonight was perfect to go to after a very busy week. She went through each pose with such ease and flow, I felt I could really get into each pose. She also went around to each of us and sort of massaged us into relaxation - which really worked to soften my shoulders and neck (where I had a lot of tension). It was nice not having to power through everything so fast. I would definitely go back to try the Yin class, because I think people wanting to wind down in an easy way would really enjoy this place.Listed in: Passport to Prana - One Yoga…
