Whether you are a new or long practicing student or a local teacher, the YAA is a great hub for learning about yoga workshops in your area. Their business space is really just a few cubicles put together at the Percy Page Centre, where a large number of clubs, associations and special interest groups have set up their homebase. The YAA sells yoga props, so if you're starting up your own studio you may want to consider stocking up here. Their rates aren't the cheapest though. You'd be better off buying wholesale props, mats and eye-pillows online, or head to Wal-Mart for blankets. I wasn't overly impressed with their selection or prices. There is, however, a pretty decent library or yoga books you can sign out, and they also produce a quarterly magazine, Bridges, which you'll get if you become a member. Cost of purchases is also marginally reduced with membership. YAA teacher training is one of the more rigorous and lengthy processes around. There are lots of excellent options in the community that will have you certified and teaching faster, but YAA certification is known to be extremely thorough and high calibre.
