The other day I noticed that my love handles were all too noticeable, and I was losing a skip in my stride so I took a quick detour from Macleod Trail to check out the YMCA in Heritage.
First thing, free parking, I like this, very nice, already 1 star. This is the oldest facility of YMCA so although it is a smaller facility there is a definite feeling of hominess once you walk in.
I was attended to by a rosy cheeked, glowing, and pregnant counter gal who was very enthusiastic about showing me around. There is one pool here that is a descent size and was very clean. There isn't as much traffic at this YMCA that the other ones have so you can be assured you will have a peaceful swim here.
The gym was well equipped with state of the art equipment and along with your membership you get one free session with a personal trainer. Again a smaller gym but not too many people which is very nice.
Membership fees here are around 45 dollars as opposed to the 59 dollar fee of the other locations simply because this is the most quaint and the oldest.
We finished our tour and I was really impressed, she also gave me a list of classes they offered which including Yoga and Tai Chi.
All in all a good visit. I will be checking the other locations and be posting my reviews here very soon. -

No bums or homeless at this YMCA. This place has been around forever, offering youth services, recreational services, a gorgeous pool, clean locker rooms, and a nice gym for sporting events.
Memberships here are the right price too. They open early for that avid treadmill runner or weightlifter, and that's usually the best time to go to avoid the rush. -
