I never would have known that Y K N existed, if not for the Yelp app on a sunny Saturday afternoon. In fact, I'm so happy that I found this place, as I had been searching high and low for a the right frames and the right kind of assistance in ensuring what I picked out would be a good fit for my face. I mean, if you're going to wear something every single day, you'd better be comfortable with it, right?

The folks at YKN are awesome. From the moment I stepped in the door until making a decision, they were incredibly helpful with suggestions and assistance in figuring out what the best options for me would be. Although their speciality is sunglasses - they've got a great selection of top-name brands to choose from - they also have a wide range of designer frames for eyeglasses, too.

I picked a D&G black frame that on my own, I wouldn't have chosen, but I'm really happy with the decision I made. And, the service level was top notch - they care about what they are doing, and will make sure you get what you need.

YKN is tucked away just around the corner from Spring Garden and a few steps back from South Park in the courtyard of the Paramount Apartments. While it's a little hidden, it seems like a a nice little boutique with high-end shades and frames of all shapes and sizes! Marc Jacob, Rayban, Oakley, Dolce & Gabbana, Carrera and more.

It's pretty small so you'll likely be able to figure out pretty quickly whether they have what you're looking for or not, but if you need a hand, the staff are really knowledgeable about the brands and the styles. I usually have a hard time figuring out what looks good until it's on my face, but the woman working was able to pick out styles with much more accuracy that I could have hoped for.

Walked out with an outrageously low-priced pair of Rayban wayfarers (only $150...I mean, seriously...) and my co-shopper nabbed a trendy pair of Carreras for just a bit more at $165. Both seemed far lower than what I'm used to seeing at the Sunglass Hut or equivalent, plus you have comfy couches to hang out in while you make your choice.

With the day light savings spring ahead business, comes the much-welcomed longer daytime hours. The sun was shining until about 7:30pm tonight! How exciting! So I proclaim without further ado that we must protect our eyes while remaining glamorous, but of course, nonchalant.

I've wanted to duck into this boutique on many occasions, but its hidden location tends to keep it off my radar whenever I walk past this row of shops. Today however, I made it happen. All I had to do was step around the corner from the Smiling Goat and there I was, at YKN Sunglasses and Eyeglasses.

The woman working was a doll. She greeted me right away and we chatted about the lovely weather. I proceeded to try on some seriously "bomb" Ray-bans along with some other smoking shades by designers like Marc Jacobs. The prices were on par with what other designer specs cost, and the woman's demeanor made me feel compelled to spend money (although I refrained today).

She was so on the ball that she even noticed that the arms of my shades were a little loose, so she cleaned them and tightened the screws for me! What a gem.

I highly recommend popping into this shop. They do eye exams and can direct bill some health care providers, plus have stellar service and a hip selection. This is the kind of spot that makes being a "four eyes" sexy.

Spec-tacular: a hot 'n hidden eyewear shop located just behind The Smiling Goat. I would've never known! But in getting a good tip, today's sunshine proved as an ideal time to check it out.

And what a sweet little spot. The sales woman greeted me with enthusiasm and kind regards. This is a snug space but the selection is fab and easy to navigate. Dior, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Ray Ban, etc. A select variety of both high-end specs and shades are there for the taking. Styles ranged from nerdy chic to sophisticated cool-- hot trends on every level. Ray Bans were pretty wonderful, existing beyond the over sought styles.

As I took off my own glasses to try new ones on, I noticed mine needed a bit of a wipe. I started to give a little scrub with my sleeve, but the kind lady offered to give them a clean. And a good quality clean it was. Crisp vision, whoo hoo! Sometimes little things like that can go a long way. I thought it was totally sweet.

They fit lenses and prescriptions here as well, so its all a one stop shop. Prices are comparable to other glasses of the same stature. Pricey, but thats just what you pay nowadays.

I'll keep this place in mind the next time I need my eyes accessorized. With such sweet service and an impeccable taste level, its a no brainer.
