If you're looking for a treat meal one place to definitely keep in mind is YEW restaurant and bar in the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Vancouver.
The room is huge and beautifully decorated, the huge fireplace is a great divider between the open dining room and the bar/lounge area. The service here is top-notch and your every need is taken care of effortlessly, the staff are very knowledgeable on the menu and take the time to answer any questions you could have.
Canadian chef Ned Bell came on board as the Executive Chef for YEW in August 2011 and the menu was completely reworked to what we have now, he brings his own food philosophy 'Globally Inspired and Locally Created,' - a process that begins with premium ingredients, sourcing the best of what is available locally and seasonally, and then focusing on flavor to the YEW space and to the menu and it totally shows.
I started with a Kronenbourg Blanc for $8 and glass, this is a favorite beer of mine. It's light and has a lavender floral note sightly, it was perfect to cut through the richness of my main and also works with a variety of different foods~if your new to drinking beer give this one a try.
I went with a twist on a classic for my main and man did it hit the spot!, delicious lobster mac and cheese with corn and an amazing creamy sauce tied it all together nicely. At $22 a bowl its on the high-end but it's worth it if you're looking for a treat, there was lobster chunks through out and the lobster was cooked perfectly, the tender buttery pieces of lobster melts in your mouth and its bathed in a rich buttery sauce that isn't cheesy. The sprinkling of bread crumbs on top were the perfect garnish.
For dessert I went with their dessert trio. It features all three of their dessert tapas and for $8 it's a great deal. They also have fresh berry pies and fresh fruit crumble on the menu if that's more of what you're looking for and also they offer a cheese selection. Duck egg custard tart was first up, it was a rich and creamy custard with hints of vanilla, the pastry for the tart was the perfect vessel for this yummy dessert. The one thing i was concerned with when ordering this was the duck egg flavor and if it would be to intense but I didn't taste any kind of eggy flavor in the dish. Next up is a Australian Candied Sugar Cherry Ravioli in a young coconut pineapple consomme. It's molecular gastronomy and was a blast to eat, you take it like a shooter and when you squish the cherry ravioli it explodes in your mouth and you taste a flood of sweet cherry juice. I could throw back 5 or 6 of these!
Finally we have the Espresso Banana Milk Chocolate Lollipop. The espresso is in the homemade marshmallow that encapsulates the lollipop, inside the milk chocolate is semi soft and melts in your mouth, all of the flavors combined with a definite treat. -

The fact that my friend is still raving and bragging about going to dinner at this place several days later says a lot.
The plan was to grab dinner in DT Vancouver while we waited for a friend's flight. Tommy said he wanted to go to a snazzy place, ideally with a top-floor dining area. We couldn't find the latter, so the idea of going to a familiar spot was tossed out. I suggested going somewhere "new" and jumped on Yelp - grateful that the review site is international.
We decided on YEW in the Four Seasons hotel and were glad we did. It's a seafood joint, so the fact that they could accommodate a land-only carnivore was great. I got a delicious burger off the "lounge menu"; it was topped with cheese and bacon and onions, just like I would anywhere else. It came with fries and a side salad, which is unheard of today now that a la carté fries and sides are the norm. The delicious biscuits were great as we waited for our meal. One of my friends ordered an oyster, and then loved it so much he ordered two more. Obviously I'm not the first person to come to for seafood, especially oyster, reviews, but he loved them. And I can honestly say the three sauces that each one came with was oh-so tasty.
The place is very swanky, and the dining area is just as fun as the lounge area. Our waiter was amazing: offering up menu suggestions, letting us taste different wines and putting up with our general antics. I'll admit this "snazzy" place isn't somewhere I'd normally eat based on cost, but we had a great evening and the food was good. Just to put it in perspective: one glass of wine, a burger with fries and 20-percent tip cost me $50. -

Did I enjoy Yew? Yew Betcha. Was it perfect? Well, yew know how it goes.
First, a Yew is a tree, so why all the pictures of fish everywhere? I don't get it. Now lets get to it. The space is fantastic. Really great place, well set out for a good time and good dining. The space is 5-star.
The waiter service is 5 star. Our server was fantastic, but the porter service was meh. The guy we had was very nice, but he wasn't necessarily on the ball so likely 3 star. Also one of the managers comes to our table and says "Gentlemen, how was your meal", which would've been great...if i wasn't with my wife. Dude, look at who you're talking to before you address them.
The food: we were there for Dine Out Van and it's specific menu. We started w Crabcakes which were very average. The wife mentioned they may be from Captain Highliner. Lots of salt...LOTS. We finally got some bread after the appies (though we had to make a comment to actually remind them to bring it. Thankfully they did, it was friggin awesome! Some sort of rosemary biscuit. It was really....really....really fantastic.
I had the tenderloin, the wife had salmon. My steak was perfect, mashed potatoes were outstanding (which crispy cauliflower and raisins). The meal was stellar. The wife enjoyed hers too (I think, I was lost in my steak). The desserts were good, but not outstanding. I had a pina colada rice pudding and the wife had a bananas foster schpiel. Basically they were ice cream sundaes with meringue sticks. Not bad, but not brilliant.
And that's what Yew is. It should be brilliant, because it's playing in those leagues. The places I really like are good all around with no deficiencies. Yew had a couple dips. We'll be back as the menu looks really really good and it is a great great space (nice work Ned Bell). -

Vancouver, BC
An excellent place for a nice meal. The ambience and decor explodes of class and and sophistication and makes for a very lovely evening. The service is wonderful, from the hostesses to greet us as we entered and take our coats. I never went for want of water, which is something that I notice in restaurants.
I feasted on Dineout, which is good value for the $38 price. The Dungeness crab cake was light, and not heavy on the cream, making it a very pleasant change.
The sides served with the main were wonderful. The caramelized onion jam and eggplant puree were a very nice contrast to the salmon and garlic kale, which I found to be rather plain and something I could prepare at home with very little effort. The salmon was prepared just right - not dry. I have come to appreciate a more moist salmon, even one that is prepared "Chicago" style.
The cheese and green apple mousse cake was light, something I really appreciated since I was not that hungry that evening. It was tres delicieux, and the green apple sauce was a nice compliment to the mousse cake. My personal preference would have been to have a mousse cake with a stronger green apple flavour.
I would return to Yew; I'm very intrigued to sample the rest of the menu. -

It was delicious and the manager was amazing. I ordered mussels and I loathe goat cheese - and my mussels came slathered in goat cheese. The manager came out right away, offered to bring me fresh mussels sans goat cheese, and told me to keep my frites and existing mussels until the fresh ones came out.
I also had a crab salad to start and it was delicious....this place is amazing, and it has a good crowd - definitely the place to see and be seen. -
Review from Mike P.
My first visit here was EXCELLENT. Unfortunately my last was so terrible that I need to update my review. Kassim and Robin said it pretty well in their reviews.
We visited with a large group for a Christmas dinner and it was a complete disaster. On my first visit the staff seemed to operate as a finely tuned machine, working together to provide the best service. On this visit we often noticed that the staff was huddled around the pick-up area for the kitchen, I guess waiting for food to be ready. I heard numerous complaints from my friends during the evening about the service and/or food :(.
I ran into a friend who was there with another group. She said her whole group felt the same way (slow service, a disaster of an evening).
I'm not sure what happened to this place, and I'm shocked to have two completely different experiences in such a short amount of time (about 4 months between visits). Given the price tag I'm not sure if i can give it another shot, maybe once i see some new favourable yelp reviews.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Ah, the Yew! I hadn't actually visited this place yet until I went for a quick, spontaneous Saturday evening drink just last week. I was just blown away by the professionalism and class of the place - as well as the great, unpretentious service! It's so nice to walk into a nice lounge and be treated like a human being. I obviously don't have a lot of money, so I notice when people still give me great service in spite of my old secondhand coat.
The drink I had was a gimlet - and I love gimlets. It was great. Of course it was great. It was delivered promptly, which was nice, and we also got a bowl of wasabi peas and other snacks to fill the time and empty space in our stomachs while we waited. I love it when places give snacks to guests so they don't get hangry - it's a great tactic.
Of course it was expensive, but I expected that. I wish there had been anything on the menu that I could have eaten - but this is a really seafood focused place, and unfortunately dulse doesn't count.
Hostesses all had these gorgeous blue dresses on. How nice. Every section of the restaurant seemed to have its own uniform which was a neat touch. -

No.
No service.
No reasonably priced drinks.
No menus?
No ambiance.
No thanks.
Uncomfortable, slightly pretentious, and SLOOOOOOW service. I'd come back on a less busy night just to see what the hype is about, but based on my experience, it just doesn't live up to it.

Review from Kassim D.
While the food remains fantastic, I've been quite disappointed with my last 2 trips.
I dutifully reserved on OpenTable for brunch a few Sunday's back. When we arrived, we had to sit at a high-top table vs. the main dining room which was not overly comfortable. The service was painfully slow, and the "bread" (or beignets) did not arrive until we basically received our brunch. The slow service continued throughout the meal, unfortunately.
Fast forward to a recent excursion to Yew on a Saturday night for drinks / dessert. We were seated with 1 menu to share between 5 people and didn't get any service for a good 10 minutes. I felt bad for the service staff as it seemed that during a really packed evening, they were run off their feet. It took us a long time to 1. get regular menus 2. get a dessert menu (separate request) and finally to actually 3. get our drinks.
I hope that the management team reads this and hears that they have a great food product, but are spoiling the experience by what seems to be a case of chronic under-staffing.Listed in: Essential VanCity +…

Knocking a couple stars off my previous review. A recent trip for a quick drink and dessert ended up being a long wait with shoddy service.
High prices are so not worth it when you sit ignored forever, without even having an adequate number of menus. And getting the dessert menu was another ordeal. Do you want us to order food, or not? Because they sure weren't making it easy for us. And 4 bucks for a tiny, tiny glass mostly full of ice with a splash of Coke on top. Really? Ouch.
The place is still beautiful, but unless you are the upper crust of society, it might be a looong wait. I'm sure brunch is still delicious, but I don't think I will be back at any other time of the day.Listed in: Treat Yourself

Review from Herman E.
This was renovated from its old late 70's/early 80's garden lounge. It was quite the eyesore prior to the renos.
Now it is nice, modern and hip.
I noticed that some of the other Yelpers commented about slow service. I agree. Not too sure why though. They took our orders fast enough. Kitchen staff should have been able to figure this out since the opening.
Happen to come here for lunch the day after the Vancouver Aquarium ocean wise chowder chowdown. A smoked sablefish chowder that was entered by Yew was the winner! Update on this comment. They LIED. This entry was not the winner. I just read it on the news one day after I posted this review!!! Grrrrrr...... , but it was still pretty good, and was a bowl, not a cup.
Crab tacos, very good too, but it didn't pair too well with the chowder. It is good as a standalone but the chowder smokiness and taco citrus doesn't work for me.
The braised short rib pappardelle was quite tasty. -

WHOA! I think I just found another favorite restaurant to add to my list. I've had the pleasure to eat here for dinner, a Yelp Elite party and now brunch.
The first thing you notice as you walk in is the beautiful and classy decor. If I can decorate my house, this is exactly what I'd do, - especially the wine room with 4 walls of glass wine racks! You can actually book a party for that room and it seats 10-14 people.
Brunch was absolutely fantastic! Yew doesn't give you bread in the beginning of the meal, they give you mini donuts. Already that's a win in my books! They come with an apricot dipping sauce and mmmm... hits the spot!
I had the lobster roll which was refreshing and light. I would have liked a bit more rolls as the portion was a little on the small side. The crab taco was my favorite. Crunchy, savoury and smothered with guacamole.
I know, it's not your typical brunch food, but you can order the eggs bene or steak & eggs as it's on the menu.Listed in: My Faves, Brunch - How can you say no to…

The service and ambience was great. The food was good, but not out of this world. I came for brunch and shared buttermilk pancakes ($16) and cured salmon Benedict ($18) with my mom. I think the high price is paying more towards the service than the food.

Review from Sabrina T.
Nice space, GREAT food, and wonderful service to match! Here's what we got!
Pancakes - Small starter, flavorful and fluffy
Lobster Roll - I thought this was going to be a roll as in hoagie bread roll, but it's actually a Japanese sushi type of roll. It was a little lacking in flavor, but it was okay over all
CRAB TACOS - OMG, THE best non greasy Mexican taco I've ever had! I would come back just to get this.. And, that's what's carrying this review!
Fried Chicken - Perfectly fried, but just another okay.
Tapa Trio - The cherry ravioli and pineapple consumme was super good, the duck egg tart was a close second, and the lollipop was a distant third. The presentation was great, but you may want to try another dessert if you feel like having a something more substantial to finish on
Mini Donuts - they give these to start with a fruit dipping sauce. Wasn't that warm, but it was tasty -

When I miss Roppongi, I come to Yew.
Yew has a warmth and flow that remind me of the Japanese feel I love.
It is cosmopolitan without being pretentious. Great beers on tap, wonderful wines by the glass and chill lounge music make for a perfect afternoon getaway.
As much as I love this room, I really come here for the service. If you are lucky enough to get Dai and Domenic as your servers you will not only be treated to first class service, but you will also feel like you came back home to your old high school mates. They make our twice monthly afternoon jaunts to the Yew a family affair. An example of their first class service: My dad hates peanuts in his nut mix. These guys hand pick out every last peanut for him!
Mr Yew, Give these boys co-employees of the decade awards!
oops I forgot to mention the food.
YUM!
is it enough??? -
Review from Justin L.
In Vancouver, they seem to take making drinks really seriously. Most bartenders I have met up there look at their trade as more of a serious art known as mixology. At first, I found this notion somewhat hilarious. But through exploration of the various high-end Vancouver bars and their unique concoctions, I soon became to take this mixology stuff seriously.
Of all the bars, I dare say that the best cocktail I have ever had can be found at Yew restaurant + bar. Appropriately, this drink is called "Perfect Times". It is a refreshing vodka-based cocktail that highlights a clean, perfectly balanced pear taste. The "Perfect Times" is so perfect, it actually has won awards. Despite this, it interestingly is not even on the regular drink menu. You have to ask for one to have one made up just for you. Given this, make a mental note & order one next time you are at Yew...you won't regret it.
The rest of the drinks & late-night bar appetizers are excellent. If you happen to find yourself at Yew first thing on a weekend morning for reasons other than an eye opener, check out their weekend brunch. Great food at reasonable prices. All this is served up in an airy & comfortable setting with a stylish NW motif. Gotta love it.Listed in: Oh Canada :)

However, they changed to menu in "Seafood" concept - majorities of dishes are fish!! It was bad, but not stand out if compared with other seafood restaurants.

Dear Yew Bar,
It has to be said: I love you.
I love that you're smack dab in the middle of downtown, but not overrun with douchebags from the Granville strip or yuppies from Yaletown.
I love the attentive hostess who kindly takes my coat and sometimes dripping umbrella (sorry!).
I love the low, wide banquettes with comfy pillows.
I love your sleek decor and mood lighting.
I love your cocktail list and knowledgeable bartenders.
I love that you've reintroduced me to my new favourite drink: the moscow mule.
I even love the little dish of nuts you give me.
Be mine, always?
Yours,

Foodie Friend recommened YEW to try this weekend! Here is my raving review!!
Service: 5+
Not only one, but you get TWO, Polite, Friendly, Not over bearing and Entertaining Wait Staff! They also asked if were going to watch the Fireworks Finale, and if we had seats saved for us, we said no. So she said she'll put a "rush" on our food! They were friendly with us taking photos, and always came to our aid to take a group photo! She invited us in take a photo in the wine room as well! :) That one particular server makes me ^_______^ Its one of those people that you point, and say.. she loves what she's doing.. and it spread happiness!
Food: 5
Currently they are having a $35 meal deal. Where you get a starter, entree, and dessert. The starter and entree.. all had sablefish. People might think, where are the options.. BUT I LOVE SABLEFISH! BRING IT ON!
I ordered the Sablefish on sablefish. Roasted, curried
Friends had venison, smoke sablefish, sablefish salad
Some can do sablefish wrong.. Yew did it all right and 4 different ways!
They kindly allowed me to substitute their desser with their tapas desserts so I ended with 3 desserts for $8! Wow
Duck egg custard, espresso, vanilla with apricot. All creamy, but slightly different tang!
All foods were delivered beautifully :)
Impressed. Place was beautiful
I'd like to give them 5++ with thumbs all raised
I'll be back for more! ALL CAPITAL NOM!! -

Simply put, some of the best if not THE best martinis and cocktails in the city. Everything is fresh, they hand muddle the ingredients so you don't have to be concerned with those sickly sweet or artificial flavours that are so common everywhere else.
From the best dirty gin martini to the creative mixes such as their lime, cilantro and tequila martinis, they have a list of award wining beverages that will inspire the senses.
If you haven't had a chill night at the lounge with you partner or friends you simply must! -

Now THIS is what a restaurant should be! Located in the swanky Four Seasons in downtown Vancouver this restaurant is quite accessible as it's attached to Pacific Center Mall.
I don't know how such a nice place even needed to sell discounted vouchers, but I was one of the lucky ones who got a chance to get a couple. I am now in love, and wish I had more excuses to come here.
The 3 course brunch here (regularly $27) is so good, and starts with free mini donuts. This place is a seafood lover's dream. Love the raw oysters, crab taco, and crab cake Benedict!! You will be stuffed and satisfied.
I also love the decor--classy, modern, and laid back. They are not pretentious which makes me love them more. A great place with your family, your significant other, and/or friends! -
Review from Sarah A.
The Yew bar/lounge is a great place to take your friends if you are in the mood to get dressed up and drink martinis. I was impressed by the quality of the martinis (the Cosmos were not too sweet, nice and cold, and they didn't skimp on the vodka). The appetizers were also good and because it was a "Foxy Friday" the waiter brought us complementary pink sushi (the rice was dyed pink with beet juice) and mini pink cupcakes. Given the price, it isn't someplace I would go regularly, but for special occasions I am a fan. Service was excellent and the atmosphere is luxurious and warm (great for a cold winter night).

A classy restaurant and bar with exceptional service in a gorgeous open design concept with high ceilings and natural light shining through the large glass windows at the Four Seasons - perfect for weddings, special dining events, and a decadent late-night cocktail.
Today we enjoyed the brunch at YEW. Although the ambience and service was impeccable, I thought the food was very average:
DONUTS (Complimentary). Loved the sugar-coated fried mini donuts with pineapple-mint dressing - unique starter!
TUNA NICOISE ($19): Seared Ahi Tuna, Miso Dressing, Six Minute Egg, Green Beans, Black Olives & Dried Tomato. Egg was excellent; tuna was on the chewy side.
SALMON ($19): Spiced Coho Salmon, Quinoa, Broad Beans, Mint Salad & Preserved Lemon Vinaigrette. Quinoa was good; salmon was very dry.
* Brunch Special: $27 3-course menu (starter, main and 3 mini desserts) or a la carte -
Review from Geralyn Y.
Yew is a sleek hotel restaurant. I wouldn't expect anything less from the four seasons. Great service. We came in and the hostess asked me if I wanted her to hang my jacket. We were seated in the lounge because dinner hours were ending (make sure you arrive well before 10 because we were there at around 9:45). I was on a mission to try the Venison because it was my first night in Vancouver, I was feeling daring and I'd never had it before. I asked the waitress if there was any way I could have it and she ran to the kitchen to ask the chef, who gave me the OK.
The Venison came with cous cous and simple greens. I liked the consistency of the meat- wasn't as thick as steak but wasn't thin either. It tasted grainy, but tender.
My friend ordered the macaroni, prepared really rich and loaded with lobster. It was good, and a lot of food- she could only eat half.
Only complaint is the pour for a glass of wine could have been a little heavier, but this is forgivable.Listed in: Nightlife.

As said by others, a 5-star restaurant and food experience totally! My first experience with YEW was at the Yelp Elite party and I just couldn't get over the magnitude at which they raised the bar of future Elite parties.
After that party, I finally made it in for the brunch that I spent so many nights in bed staring at the menu and drooling for! OMG, food is amazing! The mini-donuts they served us in the beginning with a mango-passionfruit sauce were good enough to rival the mini donuts at the PNE! And yeah, the pancakes are THAT good. I normally don't even like pancakes, but these had a perfect balance of lemony ricotta and raspberries.
The brunch pizza was pretty good, and of course the desserts were quite lovely.
The price is definitely high, so maybe this is more of a special brunch occasion type place. But you do get what you pay for.
Plus, service is friggin' awesome. Our server even packed us extra donuts and sauce to go when I took half the pizza home. -

I visited YEW for brunch and dineer and love their food.
Halibut fish was well marinated and freshly cooked. Dessert is good as well. We tried an ice cream cup as big as my face and we managed to finished but it is just too big. lol
Good place for lunch and dinner if you happen to be live at the four season hotel or just visiting pacific centre for shopping. -

YOU need to go to YEW! Relaxing, beautiful brunch here over the weekend.
Thanks to Mark H's description of the lemon ricotta pancakes, I had to give this place a try. It's now my new favourite brunch place! More importantly, this place also has one of the best mashed potatoes in town. That's right, mashed potatoes - I LOOOOOVE mashed potatoes!
For $5, you get a side of buttery, fluffy, slightly smoked, utterly delicious mashed potatoes. So decadent, so simple and so satisfying! It's like a beautiful buttery yellow pillow of mashed potatoes.
I thought the $27 three course menu was a great deal and could be easily shared between two people with one additional side order (m.a.s.h.e.d.)
The West Coast benedict was great - no fillers, not even an English muffin! You get a crab cake in its place.
They also had surprisingly strong desserts. As in, well-executed and tasty. I had the creme brulee (very creamy and smooth), the raspberry parfait (refreshing), and the fruit consomme with mango ravioli. Impressed with their dabble into molecular gastronomy - it's like Ferran's olives, but a suspended mango sphere instead. Overdone? Sure, but not for Vancouver. -
Review from Christine K.

First off, I had a voucher that gave two of us a 3 course brunch for $30. Regular price is $54 for two and it would have been worth it at that price! I like the ambiance of the restaurant - high, high ceilings. It was very comfortable and they had the blinds right so that sun wasn't shining in and blinding you.
Service was excellent. Our waiter paced the brunch perfectly and knew the menu well. He made several suggestions and answered any questions knowledgeably. Food was cooked properly and was presented nicely. I ordered three Kushi oysters as an extra and they were $1.75 each. If I had chose them as my first course I would have got six. My Nicoise salad was slightly under dressed but the grilled haricot vert were delicious! Double Caesar with prawn was $10 and was very good with fresh horseradish in it.
I found this brunch to have great value and I will return! None of the food was mind blowing but it was perfectly satisfactory. The bar is attractive too. The experience as a whole was worthwhile. Here are the photos:
1. Amuse of mini donuts with raspberry-orange dipping sauce and they will bring you more if you want more (as good as the PNE ones)
2. Waffles with Dark Chocolate & Orange
3. Kushi oysters served with a soy vinaigrette & horseradish
4. Crab Fritters with Cilantro, Ginger & Spicy Aioli
5. Westcoast Benedict - Dungeness Crab Cake, Wilted Spinach, Hollandaise
6. Tuna Nicoise - Seared Ahi Tuna, Miso Dressing, Six Minute Egg, Green Beans, Black Olives & Dried Tomato
7. Americano with Biscotti - $5
8. Parfait w/Vanilla & ?, - Chocolate tart with hazelnuts and caramel, - Creme Brulee with Tahitian Vanilla, Pineapple Compote
9. Espresso Caramel, Pot De Crème, - Chocolate tart with hazelnuts and caramel, - Fruit Consommé, Mango Ravioli -

Drinks! that's why I've come back here a few times. My experience has been that they use premium, top shelf booze, but the bartenders can range from competent to passionate.
At the prices they charge for a cocktail, i would expect consistent passion. Maybe my expectations are a bit high, but at $15 a martini, i want my bartender to be friendly, and to really know his/her stuff.
Though it may sound like i'm griping, i do enjoy the overall atmosphere, and the quality of drinks is at least competent, so i don't mind coming back.
I haven't had a "wow" moment with this bar, but i feel like it could come at any time. -

Brunch with royalty service. I think I've found my new favourite Vancouver restaurant.
I was fully sold on coming back here for brunch just 4 days after the Yelp party by YEW's stellar, amazing, engaging staff. Notable mention to Mr. Bede Cocks (Room Service Manager) who is pretty much the most enthusiastic, down to earth guy you'll meet at a hotel.
Upon arriving, the hostess, Emily, greeted me by my last name and knew I was at the Yelp party (+500 bonus points). We got a booth table which are supposedly booked weeks in advance sometimes.
Started with their Pancakes (Lemon Ricotta, Raspberries & White Chocolate Mascarpone). I'm nearly married to waffles, but these pancakes are pretty much the tastiest mistress you can ask for! So moist and flavourful, syrup is almost an insult. Best pancakes ever. Should rename them YEWcakes.
Other starters:
Waffles - perfectly baked with a delicate dark chocolate mousse.
Fruit salad - (pineapples and grapes) were masterfully blended together with some magic juice which included a little cilantro.
Mussels - broth was unreal, we soaked every drop with house bread
Show stopper was my Westcoast Bendict. Hearty servings of real dungenous crab meat in a perfectly fried ball/cake topped with poached eggs. Poke the eggs and let the yolk meld with the crab. Your eyes will pop and may have a foodgasm. Yup, I said that.
Hearing their burger was made from Kobe beef, I took a bite. Wowzers, what flavour.
Service was the best I've had in a very long time. We were there for a good 2 hours and felt so relaxed and enjoyed every minute.
YEW me. I will return for dinner, drinks, and of course brunch again.Listed in: Brunch Happiness

Was just there again Sunday night with an out of town friend to take advantage of their half-price bottles!
They have a superbly reasonable special set menu right now that features Spot Prawns which are in season right now - 3 courses only $35!!! Amazing!
As usual our service was flawless and the waiter was more than accommodating to all our requests. I wasn't keen on the set menu dessert and made mention of it, only once again to hear the lovely words "Of course." Swoon....1 Previous Review: Show all »

A 5-star food experience in every aspect.
The space is visually stimulating with a really interesting open kitchen layout for the food voyeur.
Service from entering the restaurant to leaving was spot on and I couldn't ask for anything more. Eating there I felt like a 5-star guest.
Presentation of food was outstanding. Looking at the food you want to take a picture of it before touching it.
The food and the prices are high end but the price is totally justified as the quality of the food and the portions are reasonable.
I recommend the fried chicken. The chicken was juicy and the crust wasn't greasy.
The bar has been set high for Vancouver restaurants. -

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the ambiance was nice, the only problem? Was the food.
I was SO excited to go there, but when I was there for during dine out vancouver, the rib eye/steak with 'frites' was horrible. The steak was a giant piece of fat, almost 3/4 of it was fat. The frites, were like fries that have gone cold and soggy and served back to you after they microwaved it.
The food is not as tasty as it looks.
It was the first time, in a long time, I wasted that much food.
For a whopping $90 just for myself, you could have gone to a place like Sip Lounge and had better food 2x.
gorgeous place. pretentious food. -

I went here for a yelp party and couldn't wait to come back !!!
I came here for the spectacular brunch the next weekend, I couldn't wait any longer. The raw oysters were devine and super cheep. The crab poach egg they had with little potatoes were like art. Oh, did I forget the fresh backed cutle little donuts in strawberry sauce they gave you in the beginning was unbelievable. The atmosphere was restful and the staff super friendly and courteous.
I'm definitely coming back again to try the rest of the menu !!! -

YEW is a great place to catch up with family and friends and they have an excellent brunch menu on the weekends!
I have only went on Saturdays or Sundays to take advantage of their $27 three course brunch which includes a plate of fresh doughnuts, starter (fresh oysters anyone?), entree and desserts (you get to pick 3!).
The food is average (hence, the deduction of 1 star), but they have an good selection of choices and more than enough food to keep you satisfied.
The service is excellent, they can be very accommodating with their orders if you require certain changes, and the location is right inside Pacific Center.
I would advice people to book days in advance because it can fill up pretty fast, especially on long weekends. However, if they happen to be completely booked, you can still arrive early on that day because they have a nice spacious lounge.
