Not bad, not good.  I would skip it and look around in this area, there are plenty of better rated places to eat.  We were in a rush and just went in to eat and run.  The service was fine and the food came out fast, so no complaints there.

I had the chicken parm with spaghetti.  Edible and generic.  What else is there to say?

    Ottawa's Worst Restaurant.

Sparks street has some stunningly crappy restaurants. Some of them serve mediocre pub food at inflated prices (Parliamentary Pub). Some sell horrible Panini style sandwiches -grilled so that the lettuce gets hot(Palermo Café).

But none of these even comes close to Yesterday's Restaurant & Parlour, at the corner of Sparks and O'Connor.

Where to start? The Yesterday's menu makes denny's look inventive by comparison. The Yesterday's staff who are often hostile (they once accused my wife of dining and dashing). The hideous cheap 80's era décor. The reheated-from-frozen food and small portion sizes, served lukewarm.

This is a restaurant so indolent and incompetent that they can't even cook french fries properly.

The only good thing I can say about Yesterdays is that they have never poisoned me, on the few occasions I have had the misfortune to eat there.

Yesterday's. Jesus. Even the name is depressing.

Yesterday's, by all accounts, should be a great restaurant. It is located on Sparks Street, and is just down the street from Parliament. Beyond that there are office towers in every direction when you walk outside the restaurant.

Still, this place misses the mark. It's not bad, it just isn't good. The food is unexceptional. It's your everyday favourites, but they are boring. It would do them a world of good to update the menu and give it a little style of their own. To be a good restaurant in an area where there is a restaurant every five feet, you have to do things a little different.

And the service, I can only go by my own experiences, and I have not been impressed. On a couple of occasions the service has been lacking and I get the feeling the staff doesn't really care. When you go to a restaurant, you pay for the food AND the service. They come hand-in-hand.

The only upside is the size of the restaurant. It is a big palce so geting a table is rarely an issue.
