My daughter discovered Yann a couple years ago after a trip to Paris. We had such an amazing experience with regards to Parisian patisserie that she got on the internet when we got home to see if Calgary had one.

Yann made the cake for my daughter's wedding. We had salted caramel macaroons as the favors. The cake was a chocolate hazelnut crunch and apple caramel rum cake. Everythings was amazing!! people haven't stopped talking about the cake and the macaroons!
Thank you Yann, you are an artist not just in presentation but in taste.

I discovered Yann Haute through Yelp.  I was searching for desserts and when I stumbled upon Yann Haute Patisserie I really couldn't contain myself while reading the reviews so I decided to look for this treasure chest and give them a try.

Yann is located in Mission, just off 23rd street in the SW, it's a bright yellow house that you just can't miss.  There is street parking along with a park and pay right beside Yann's.  I don't usually pay for parking because I'm just running in for a few minutes so I get Spence to stay in the car while I splurge.

Giddy (as per usual) I make my steps into Yann.  The door is bluish purple and the door handle is cute because it's shaped as a "Y" for Yann.  My first step into the building I can already smell the precious French pastries... "OMG OMG MMMM" I say to myself.  It's just a small area with pastries and a cashier, and that's all they really need!!  There were a few people ahead of me, so I took my time to look at the goodies.  The macaron display was just so colorful and pretty, when it was finally my turn to pick what I wanted...I couldn't choose which maracons so I asked for one of each!  Of course there were so many other beautiful looking pastries that I COULDN'T just get the maracons.  I asked for suggestions and she suggested the chocolate éclair because it wasn't there all the time.

Yann usually has flavor cycles with a dozen different ones that are offered in the shop so they might not have the one you wanted unless it's in the permanent collection!  Since I got one of each, it was a little hard to tell which was which; I did enjoy certain ones more than the others.  My favorites were the strawberry vanilla (vanilla cream with a strawberry dollop in the center, SOO GOOD), PB&J (I just love this one for some reason...peanut butter mmm) and mint chocolate (perfect mint to chocolate ratio).  Spencer enjoyed half the chocolate éclair because I had to try it too!  They treat their pastries like fine jewelry...exquisite, deliciousness to all senses!  They look like art but taste like heaven.

Yann is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and just extended their Sunday hours to close at 5:30pm as opposed to 2pm (HURRAY!! Or no?)

I highly recommend Yann Haute Patisserie if that sweet tooth is wanting some fine pastries or even if you feel like trying something that tastes like heaven ;) GO....ASAP!

    ps. they also do catering!!

I got a pack of 6.  The rose lychee (?) one had great flavor...the lychee filling tasted like a real lychee!  I would go back for that one.

These macaroons are a little bigger than at other places...and.... one was too flakey/crumbly...

but the place inside is nicely decorated

AND... they offer other pastries which I have not tried... but they looked very yummm.
e.g. Almond Croissant, Chocolate croissant, etc... (see pics I posted).

I'd never heard of Yann Haute until I agreed to venture on a Yelp Photowalk with our fearless community manager, Wendy.

It's set back a little off of 4th St, but in a bright yellow building, sort of hard to miss once you've seen it. It's adorable, reminding you of the houses with white porches in which people used to live.

We arrived in the afternoon on a Sunday, so the selection was already a little low and, unfortunately, we wandered in after a lady who seemed to know her way around and was hellbent on buying the entire display.

However, there was still quite a few to select from and we all chose different patries. All in all, our group seemed to very much enjoy our selections.

I will definitely be back to try more - viewing the pictures on the Yelp page for this business, I could be eating pastries for quite some time and never try the same one twice :)

Yann makes the best macarons in Calgary. He and his wife, Geraldine are the loveliest bakery owners; they're friendly, are always eager to hear about your day and offer help with your sweet tooth selections. The macarons are light and flavorful; best served at almost room temperature. They are constantly creating unique flavor combinations like rose water and lychee so you'll never get bored.

In addition to offering macarons, the patisserie bakes the city's best almond croissant (as reviewed in the July/ August 2011 edition of the "City Palate"). This is my favorite pastry in Calgary. They also have other fine pastries: Pain au chocolat, croque monsieur, fruit tarts, baguettes, brioches, eclairs.

It's a little taste of Paris in Calgary!

Who doesn't love pastries sold in a bright yellow house in Mission? Hating on delicious pastries would be like hatin' on cupcakes.. or, ya know, puppies.

Walk into Yann Haute and you'll find yourself with a little tea bar to the left of you, the pastry counter to the right and here you are... stuck in the middle of the two. Do you know what it is you're gonna do?

I'll tell you what you're gonna do. You're gonna visit the tea counter and sample what's on tap today and also take notice that it's also a coffee counter. Then you're going to walk on over to the pastry counter and pick out an awesome sauce eclair or go for a nice big piece of chocolate layer cake with flaky and crispy layers between inches of firm chocolate ganache-like yumminess (I know, I'm so technical in my pastry terms!).

Tip: If you want the best choice, get there earlier in the day!

One of the most amazing pastry shops I've checked out in a loooong time. Truly authentic Parisian pastries. The croissants and french style doughnuts are DIVINE and the macarons will BLOW YOUR MIND!!! Flavours include Coconut & Milk chocolate, PB&J, Hazelnut, Lychee & Rosewater and other specials that change from day to day. WELL WORTH the price (which isn't too bad).
    GO! You won't regret it!!!

This is one of my favourite places to visit in all of Calgary.  Look for the bright yellow house just off 23rd street.  Yann's is family owned and run, and they make authentic French pastries, specializing in 'macarons'.  There are always about 10 flavours to choose from and new specialty flavours from time to time.  If called on to bring dessert somewhere, this place is my go-to for macarons or one of their cakes.

This review has to remain brief since I just ate my body-weight in macarons and have to lie down.

If you haven't already, make sure to give this place a try.

Mon dieu! I can't imagine a better slice of French heaven than under the roof of the yellow house in Mission! Yann Haute always has a delectable assortment of treats that never disappoint. You'll go for the macarons or the bread, but do yourself a favor and try the cakes and other patisserie! They made a birthday cake for us recently and it was unforgettable!
Hint: if you don't know about Canneles, make sure you try one!!

Beautiful quaint yellow character home houses this very new Patisserie in the Mission area.

This is a freshly painted local with the cutest little pastry shop.  There are great graphics of butterflies and flowers as you come into this shop and inside it is really kind of like visiting a children's store but that sells macaroons like Dark Gianduja, Passion fruit and Milk Chocolate, Caramel and Ganache Fleur de Sel, and Pistachio, Morello Cherry.

There were fruit tarts, éclairs, caramel, chocolate, caramels, guimauves, meringues, and pâtés de fruits.

As a bakery there are croissants, almond croissants, pains au chocolate, pains au raisin, brioche, and homemade sourdough.

It has just opened its door so it was quite sparse as far as inner decor goes but what I did see was  tastefully done and really sweet.

calgary is fortunate to have this genuine french patisserie and macaron oasis.  i stopped by recently around halloween and the place was whimsically and charmingly decorated to suit the season.  the staff patiently and graciously help you take the opportunity to practice your french, and there is a new tea counter (i tried the rooibos on offer and it was really good).

the macarons are probably the most delectable items at yann, but for the chocolate lover i recommend the little gluten-free chocolate cakes (brownies) - they are amazing.

A charming addition to the Mission district. One bite from their delightful pastry selection and you are transported to France. A true and authentic crossiant found right here in Calgary - crisp, flaky, and made with lots of real creamy butter. Délicieux!

It's great to be able to find French-style "macarons" in Calgary!  Despite Daniel Latruwe's great and well-deserved success, European-style patisserie has been severely lacking in Calgary.  Let's support this family-owned business and make sure they stick around forever!
