Really like this little cafe tucked at the corner of Davie & Homer.  The gelato is excellent; rich, creamy, deliciousness!  The waffle cones are also great.
Nice, casual, European ambiance.  A nice spot to have a coffee and catch up (only around 4 tables though).  The paninis look great, but haven't had the will power to make it past the gelato yet, will report back if that ever happens :)

This review is for the choccocrema drink, not for the gelato or coffee.  I was in search for some really rich drinking chocolate (not hot chocolate made with syrup or hot cocoa mix).  I thought that the choccocrema would fit the bill, but I was wrong and sorely disappointed.  This ended up being akin to hot chocolate pudding.  It was clear that they used corn starch, cocoa powder, and milk to make it.  This lacked chocolate depth and sweetness.  It was kind of gross, really.  So, if you go, definitely don't get this drink because at $4, it is a rip.  Their baked goods looked fantastic, and perhaps I should go for that next time.

Yaletown Gelato is the best coffee shop in Vancouver. No, I'm not exaggerating. This friendly café, hidden on the corner of Homer and Davie, not only has the best coffee in Vancouver, but also amazing customer service.

The different flavours of Italian ice cream are in-house creations and will never disappoint you. I can live on of their Lemoncello gelato! It's just heaven on earth...

If you're looking for a warmer treat ask for a cafe mocha paired with their over sized palmier. You won't regret it!

Double scoop and a double take - gelatini..what? Like a boozy affagato? No way! Okay, so I didn't notice the option to splash a shot of liquor over my scoop until after I had paid - but this gives me the best reason to go back soon!

Seriously, probably the most amazing gelato I've tasted in a long, long time! They were sweet to let me indulge in a sampling blitz before I settled on the black currant...but truffle, roasted almond and cappuccino were all in the running!

It's not wrong to want gelato for breakfast is it?

After paying CAD4.99 for a bland froyo, I headed to Yaletown Gelato as a means of revenge for having an unsatiated appetite. (You should have seen my tummy and I. Man, were we both laughing. Scratches head. Wut!)

The damage? A measly CAD4.75 for a piccolo size that consisted of two generous scoops of gelato. (Froyo, who's laughing now. Mwa ha ha!)

The staff behind the counter was helpful. She was willing to let us taste, but after two trials I just stopped her already. I got Pistachio and Espresso. The pistachio didn't have the unnecessary green colouring. While the Espresso had bits of ground beans for added flavour and texture. Both were really yummy and flavourful.

The cafe itself was warm and inviting. Apart from gelato, they had a variety of espresso and other hot drinks on the menu. As for the gelato, the left side of the display were milk-based, while the right side are the fruit and water-based sorbetto variety.

However, as authentic as the flavours were, it's consistency was not as thick or sticky as it should have been. A typical gelato should have not much air making for a denser product than typical ice cream which the ones I had were not. Whether or not it was an off-day, they should not skimp or short-cut on the process at all. Because of this, I am only giving 4 stars.

    Yup!
This is the best Gelato I've found outside of Florence.
It even looks so much better than other places around town. And $4.75 for two healthy scoops is well worth it.
However, I wanna rip around on that old school Vespa parked inside with the DO NOT TOUCH sign. It's very tempting!

    Very tasty...

I was able to try a few samples of some new flavors I might not eat a full scoop of but wanted to know what they were like.

    Which it was cheaper though.

They also seem to have an option to "spike" their drinks...  alcohol + gelato...  interesting..

YAY! Yaletown gelato FINALLY!!!! Everyone has been saying how good this place was and today was finally nice enough to get some!

It was fairly empty on a Sunday afternoon and the owner so SUPER nice and helpful. He let me and my bf try as many flavours as we wanted and gave some good suggestions - including the toasted marshmellows which tasted exactly like that!

I wanted to try different scoops but was afraid it was going to be too much... but behold there was a solution! - you can actually get one scoop of gelato split into TWO FLAVOURS!!!! whoohoo!

I decided to get half a scoop of forest berry & white chocolate... complimented each other very well! The owner gave me a quick tasting of the two just to make sure I would like it before I made my finaly decision.

BF got french vanilla with some sort of caramel crunch that was super rich and creamy. The overall text of the gelato was sooo goooey (I'm so bad with words).. unlike gelato I've tried at Mondo's which is hard and stiff and when you try to scoop it, the gelato flies out of the bowl.

The portion you get is very gracious and there was a moment when I was eating that I thought this cone would never end. Good prices and will definitely come back for more flavours!

I'm so happy to see that this hidden little gem is getting the attention it deserves!

I discovered it by accident, wandering looking for nourishment to quell my rumbling stomach. Great little sandwiches and pastries in their deli window if -and only if- you can resist the temptation to go straight to the gelato.

The icecream is delicious - that goes without saying (as other reviewers have said it far better than I could); but it's the ambience of the place that makes me adore it. A little hidden cafe with a vespa inside, some pillows for comfort and cute little marble tables. You close your eyes there and open them again, and if you were non-the-wiser you'd think you were in italy.

I almost don't want to recommend it as I don't want it to get too busy and crowded - it may just lose its charm!

Having twice returned for Chocolate Sorbet when they didn't have it, sadly I have to dock them a star.
    Wah-h-h-h ! I want my chocola-a-a-te!
Dog sitting in Yaletown now, we can check back in a couple of days for any Sorbets that are not fruity. Fruity I can get ANYwhere.... Chocolate is a treat.

As if a trip to the baker's market AND Cafe Medina is not enough, we decided to try Yaletown Gelato as our final culinary destination of the day (while planning to do yoga tomorrow). And how we are glad we did. The gelato was the perfect ending of the afternoon.
As others have said, the owner lets us try as many flavour as we want, even more. We had one scoop; white chocolate and gianduia, ( as our stomachs are still digesting 2 waffles, 2 cupcakes, and two brunches) poured with espresso (Affagatto style). The other flavors that we taste were also pretty impressive, only 1 flavor (peach with strawberry) missed the mark.

Excellent housemade gelato.  They have a wide variety of flavours, very friendly service to let you sample and find the one that's "just right."  (Yeah, go ahead and play Goldilock's to try them all!)  They also offer a small selection of Italian pastry and coffee.  My favourite is taking one of their simple flavours like dark chocolate and having it served affogato with the espresso poured over the top.  Heaven!

This is a great little shop, with friendly service and an amazing selection of gelato. There's nothing better than a quick stop in here before a summer evening walk along the seawall.

Maybe they are burnt out after this scorching week, but I'd call it good but not great ... or maybe it's just a taste thing- their gelatos are very creamy, heavy cream taste, less fruit taste.  The apple pie was good and interesting ... and, it is right in the neighborhood, which is a plus ... but, I still definitely prefer the stronger flavors at Casa Gelato.

I love going here on a break from work in the summer.  I often get the affogato which is espresso over vanilla gelato.  Yum!!  They use 100% organic, fair trade beans for their coffee.  Otherwise I get anything chocolate.  The other night I was going to an Italian themed dinner and had made some cookies.  I decided to get a tub of lemon sorbetto.  The dinner guests raved about it!!  As much as I love gelato their sorbetto really is so good.  The prices are reasonable and everything is made on premise.

It was so good that I went back the next day for more. And the flavor offerings were different the next day (excellent sign!) This place is really generous with the scoops. The first time I went in, I just wanted a little bite of something, so I ordered the child's cup, which is only about 2% smaller in size than the "small". They even split the flavors for me so I had half pistachio and half hazelnut, which really ended up being 2 scoops in a child cup. It was definitely a full portion of gelato - and quite delicious! Friendly service, a full range of flavors and convenient location make this place a must-visit when in Vancouver.
