I don't know what this club is called - Republik, Aurium or whatever. But what I know is that this club is visited by those who want to get drunk. Girls are willing to have fun and engage in conversations. No, not intelligent conversations about politics, economy, art, etc. But conversations about how fun you will have if you joined them. Music is rather meh. It is mostly hip-hop remixes.

There are 2 dance floors. One is tight. The other is decent size, but it still is a small place. I personally like small clubs because it is easier to familiarize yourself with the people, and it is more intimate. You might have different opinions. There are tables for your VIP nightout. The larger dance floor has tables upstairs where DJ is doing his thing. You can get a good view of the whole dance floor.

The bouncers are very kind and personable. They helped me look for my iPhone.

I've been to this club quite a lot of times, but I have never felt stuffy. It is crowded and packed, but ventilation seems pretty good.

Smoking area is near the underground parking lot entrance. It is very tight.

This is one of the few clubs that I feel comfortable going alone. Winter night. Thursday. Alone. In the mood for crazy fun. Wanna do something that I didn't plan on doing. Then I go to Republik. Or XS as they call it now.

I wish for such an occasion there was a 0 star or for this place a minus 5

As someone who has partied all over the world I struggle to think of a more worse club that I have ever had to endure! I mean really it is that bad.

Deciding to do a last minute night out and not really being dressed for the occasion me and some friends ended up here. The queue was not big and I kind of knew from the Dizzee rascal look alikes that I wouldn't like this place but though "meh" give it a go since options were slim.

FML - after getting through security and paying $20 cover we walked into what could only be described as a dark, stinky full of tension room before realising that there was a larger arena through all this. After going there via the washroom (broken urinals, one spewing out water all over the floor, only one tap working, broken wall tiles, lighting etc..), we finally made it to the main room.

Neither of these rooms were busy at this stage 12.30!

So i decide to get the first drinks in and straight away was short changed $20 which after asking the barmaid she went into "Oscar winning mode" to look all over the floor and give her "im so shocked i swear i gave you the right amount" look all over her face.

The music was not so bad and they have an upstairs area which is where you would go if you enjoy super cold air conditioning. The crowd was pretty trashy, with a weird club layout. Just look up at the podium to see which girls are competing for the "i crave attention because i lack self esteem" trophy.

Okay so far so shit, now to leave this club there was only one way out and that was through the dark dungeon room which by now had become mini Jamaica, crowds and smells.
Actually this was a pretty clever idea from the club because people are so hesitant to walk through a gyrating sausage fest that they tend to just stay in the main room, and the health benefit from the smokers who do not wish to go through this room is also a positive.

Anyway at least now i know never to go here again and also to never listen to my friends suggestions.

All I can say is stay away, even if it is your best friends birthday and they decide to get bottle service here.....just find a new best friend as no friendship is worth going to this club.

Events here are usually decent - on good nights you'll get mostly top40 and a pretty good crowd. And it's also usually pretty cheap cover (I've seen $5-15), especially with advance tickets/guestlist. At the same time, on some nights you'll get random music and random crowds.

The space is fairly open with two rooms, the bigger one having small raised platforms for anyone with a diva-esque impulse.

It's not fail-proof, and it's not a guaranteed night in any sense. But it's a good bet relative to other clubs frequented by the undergrad population.

If you enjoy rubbing your erect penis against a drunk girl's butt - you have found your drinking hole for the night.

The place is jam packed. To the point that I would advise folks taking Coke to not come here. You will die from thirst before squirming and weaselling your way to the bathroom.

    Great for meeting:
    -under agers
-creepy men in their late to early 30s

I used to come here when I wasn't old enough to get in anywhere else.

I've heard so much about this club and how great it is and while it has it's merits, it's NOT that amazing.

+ : Love the décor and colour schemes, good music in Aurum (the techno-ish room), nice bathrooms, and there is occasionally fun events like they had a night where $1000 American bills were dropped from the ground.

    - : Drinks are on the expensive side, cover is effing expensive after 11 ($20) but who wants to come before 11, music in Republik is messy (they switch from good songs without finishing and linger on crappy songs), and I didn't see the go-go dancers I was promised

Go once or twice, especially before 11, but don't expect to spend much on drinks or stay in the Republik room.

P.S. Don't come on a Friday. Their second room is closed so it takes away from the experience and variety in choice of music.

Halloween night. Busiest night of year.

This club that used to be Republik still dons it's old sign at the back of the room.

We got bottles service, and I would highly recommend it doing it via the website thru the club itself, than through a promoter, unless you already have that connection.  I emailed the club via the website, and was communicating with viprich@clubxs.ca

Bottles usually cost $299 + 18% gratuity (lowest package, but check out the website for the others) but it was $399 + 18% for Halloween.  Comes with 2 non-premium bottles, 1 champagne, unlimted mixers, 4 energy drinks.  It also comes with 10 comps + line bypass (more on that later). we negotiated more and some reduced cover because we had 15 people.

Was it worth it? I thought so. The place was massively crowded. We went down to scope out the dance floor, and there were so many people moving around that I couldn't stand being downstairs just crowding with other people. Maybe I'm old. Maybe I haven't been to a club for a while. But since I have the choice, I rather be upstairs in the booth than down in the crowd.

We didn't have to wait in the "other" line, and this line was solely dedicated to bottle service.
You need to check in with Rich at the door, and he's a hard man to get a hold of. I had to chase him down and follow him around.
They give you wrist bands and escort you to the table.
Ours were upstairs, and I was told the downstairs area was reserved for those who would spend a lot of $.

The booths area upstairs is really nothing fancy. Just couches, and walls, and  big bar in the middle.
We were lucky to get a booth that overlooked the big window to the dance floor downstairs. It was fun to gawk at people.

For 10 people, the booth was tiny. 2 couches could only fit like 6 people, but since you're up and dancing anyway, it didn't matter much.
(note: other people in the booths beside, LOVED to sit on our couches. *annoyed*)

It would be really unlucky to get the booths to the further side of the area.  It's next to the other room of the club that plays different music than the booths+main dance area.

2 bathrooms in the middle of the room. So unnecessary. Not only was it that there were always long line ups for it, but if you just went downstairs, there were TONS of bathroom stalls and usually never a line. If they got rid of this, they could fit another booth.
Some poor girl waited in line so long she puked all over the floor. Wonderful.

I had fun. But only because we had the booths. In the end, we paid $35 a person. Considering cover itself is $20, I think it's not so bad! We never ordered more bottles than we were given, and cash and carried any extra drinks.

So after my friend repeatedly rejected all my NYE ideas and waited til the last second for a place to go we got stuck here. We greased the door guy $20 to cut in line which I thought was pointless given the short line and we paid the cover which was $45 for the night and wow the place was empty. The smoke was coming out of my head and the place was pretty small in the first room. We walked around and luckily the secondary room was big but overall was not impressed with the setup of the place. The drinks as expected overpriced and seriously what is it about Canadian bartenders and their lack of knowledge on how to make shots? A lemon drop which is basically lemon vodka, a lemon and sugar and I get something that taste like a red headed slut. The place eventually filled up but yea douche-tastic and very trashy/ghetto. I tried to make the most of the night and at least they were playing decent music. I left early and probably won't come back here again. Side note take down the old sign Republik in your main room when you call yourselves XS! Avoid this place if you are in town.

Used to be Republik and as usual with nightclubs, this one changes names faster than the Leafs change lines. Was in here in April and it's still a work in progress. The Republik branding is still around. I'm wondering if this is the sister club to the one in Vegas. Logos are very similar. Club itself was typical. Nothing special to stand out from the pack and way too hot. I guess if you're looking for a heat wave in Toronto, you go to this club. Now they just need spray tan booths.
