Review from Jeanette B.
Edmonton, AB
I've found some really great stuff at Xs Cargo. They sell almost anything, minus apparel, that department stores would sell, except a lot of their merchandise is refurbished, outdated, or unwanted by regular retail outlets. I got a blow dryer here about 4 years ago, and it still works great. I also found a very modern-looking hanging picture with a frame for only $10!
I don't come to Xs Cargo much anymore though, because they have changed their return policy. All sales are now final, except on electronic merchandise, which you can only exchange for the same item. I bought an electronic scale once, and it was a piece of crap, yet they kept telling me it worked. Yes, it worked. I mean, the numbers came on and everything, but it wasn't accurate, and sometimes it took a long time to get the numbers to show up. But being a crappy item doesn't count as being defective, so I was stuck with it.
They have some really good deals on TVs and stereos, but I am very cautious now about buying anything here anymore, and sometimes I just feel safer paying the extra money somewhere else. At least then I can return it, whether the item is crappy, defective, or even if I don't want it. -
Review from Paula K.
I enjoy browsing around in discount stores, and XS Cargo is definitely one of my favourites. I buy quite a few items here, mostly small household items like flashlights and tools. I recently bought some walking poles for only ten dollars each - I am a novice pole hiker, so I did not want to make a huge investment, and these items cost at least three times the price in sporting goods stores. I would be wary of buying anything major here because of the strict return policy. The musical instruments they sell are also of low quality - a friend bought an acoustic guitar for $70, and well, you get what you pay for. So you might find a good bargain if you pay attention, but don't get your hopes up too high.
