I've been wanting a plant for my desk for a long time but can't bare the thought of having to bring one on 2 buses in the morning when I'm half asleep and likely to dump it on the floor or on the person beside me. Enter Wonderbucks!
While down on The Drive looking at plants at various shops, I remembered that Wonderbucks usually sells them in the spring and summer. And along with all other items in their store, at reasonable to super low prices. We walked in to the shop and bang, enter succulents! And not the tiny single cacti kind that you find at some shops. Nope, a wide variety of the traditional circular cacti, along with ones that look like 3D triangles and squiggly tubes. Fabulous descriptions, I know. They have regular ivy's and other desk-appropriate plants but knowing that cacti require limited light and care, and were only $4.50, two were chosen.
In looking around the shop before purchasing my plant, I found all kinds of beautiful white baking dishes (heavy quality with simple to elaborate designs), all for $6. Definitely a place to go if you need basic serving dishes or any household items for cheap!
The ladies at the till were fabulously nice, and I saw that each till has a large sign stating 'CASH ONLY'. I don't remember this from before, but make sure you have some change with you! -

I love Wonderbucks! It is one of those fantastic stores that you wander into and find all sorts of amazing things you didn't know you needed but are just so neat you don't know how you did without! I like the candle section best, its a guarenteed spend for me. My boyfriend, the anti-shopper, likes the gardening section so I can get him to agree to take a wander.
And it is also great that all these fun things are very reasonably priced! -

Ahhh... Wonderful Wonderbucks.
Affordable Kitchen and bath necessities and home decor. Gifts and things to assemble into gifts -(like baskets to fill.) Plants and colourful pots to put them in. All this in an organized, non cluttered environment that is dog friendly to boot! The customer service is friendly and polite. They even gave me a band-aid for my finger boo-boo :-)Listed in: Retail therapy on a tight…

Wonderbucks is one of those stores that carries the item that you search high and low for at ALL the other stores. For example, who doesn't need a sign somewhere in their house that says "be the person your dog thinks you are".
Great items aside, this review is actually about the most impressive customer service i've had (besides a handful of restaurants) in a long time!
In March '08 I found an awesome deal on this cool kitchen table with two stools.. the guy I bought it from assured me that Wonderbucks the exact same kind of stools for a good price. I took his word and bought the table and 2 stools off of him. I went Wonderbucks and sure enough they had them. They came in 2 heights and I was sure (really really sure) that I needed two 29" ones which would need to be assembled.
They sat, not assembled, in the box for over a year.
Now, in June 2009, I finally ask the boyfriend to help me assemble them.. he does and after he finishes BOTH of them, he realizes that .. they toooo tall! The seat reaches the top of the table! my "really, really sure" was really, really WRONG!
I called Wonderbucks, explained the situation, told them that I didn't have the receipt, cant take them apart again, but could I exchange them for the 24" ones. The guy (I think his name was Mike) calmy, and coooly says, yes for sure, bring em in and we'll exchange them as long as their in good condition but you just built them so they should be fine.
I bring them in, he tells me that they just built two of them and if i wanted the built ones... SCORE! saves time for the bf!
I can't thank him enough and then he tells me that he'll give me the price difference!!!
$11.20 back in my pocket!!! (well, given that they were holding it for over a year... but i'm not complaining!!)
I walked around the store with such a rush that ... people are still great!!! that there really IS some great customer service left in this world!! That, a company will sell ASSEMBLED stuff and ... for free!!!
I heart wonderbucks!!!
(oh, and for $10, you can get a lifelong membership for 10% off everything!!! yes, you can use it towards your first purchase too!) -

Ahhh Wonderbucks! Everything I need from a cheese grater to those tiny drink umbrellas, all for just a few bucks!
I've been in love with Wonderbucks since I moved to Vancouver in 2007. I just have to stop in every couple of weeks to see what's new. Stop in now for super cute and cheap BBQ accessories and supplies - you can never have to many pitchers to make Sangria in...
And I recently discovered the joys of the Wonderbucks cheap candle selection. Candles all over my patio and picnic table are the next best thing to a campfire. -

For my fellow Americans, this place reminds me of a more inexpensive "World Market". Greeting cards, placemats, and armchairs. I picked up a wedding gift bag for $1 (yes it even has the word "Married" on it and it wasn't a rip off).
Great for browsing! -

The Idea of Wonderbucks is very tantalizing. A cheap home decor store that still manages to turn out good that look nice and fit in a home. A place to say, get a frame or a curtain rod for cheap to accent the overall opulent look of your humble abode. That said, the execution leaves much to be desired.
Whenever I've got some little home need I often think of coming here. The aforementioned curtain rod and frames among them, as well as a shower curtain were all reasons I crossed the Wonderbucks threshold. But, it should be noted, I've never bought a damn thing from them.
It's not that the stuff doesn't look good; there always seems to be an interesting throw or garden statue in the window to draw me in. But once I'm inside it tends to be a different story. Things all either are not as cheap as they seem (the curtain rod) or are just about as tacky as a cheap version could be (frames and shower curtains). Things to wildly range in price in the store and that tends to be affected a lot by their quality. Which I guess could be said for any store, but for what claims to be cheapsville it's a little sad.
Now, to me, Wonderbucks has become the one stop shop for "crap, I haven't gotten this person a housewarming present" or "office secret Santa". Those times you don't know or care about the recipient's taste. I'd definitely suggest it for those quick, cheap and easy gifts. -

World bazaar meets dollar store. They have neat decorative items- Buddha statues, wall art, candles, cool picture frames, and nice posters. The inventory is always changing, so it's good to stop in every so often, just to see what they have. They have a cheap selection of common household items- kitchen tools, dishes, storage items, lightbulbs, etc.
I would recommend this place when looking for a gift. In addition to finding a unique gift they also have a selection of nice and unusual greeting cards. Other items of interest: plants, art supples (variety of canvas sizes), pet supplies, pillows and small linens, and even some furniture in the back.
Overall: friendly staff, neat stuff, good prices. -

Having visited and thoroughly enjoyed the Wonderbucks on Broadway, this spot left me a little disappointed. It could have been the recent influx of Holiday decorations or the same product as the Broadway store, it's difficult to tell.
The staff was helpful and the store looked clean and spacious. The best part was discovering there is a ride-on pink cow at the back of the store for kids. The cow is ultra florescent. No idea if it works -- it cost a dollar.
To its credit, this Wonderbucks location does have a lovely selection of floor rugs displayed in a small backroom of the store. There is some tacky furniture too, but it looked a bit un-sturdy for my liking.
If you're near Commercial and need some basic housewares, I do love the merchandise here. I'd just rather purchase it at the Broadway store. -

If you're into home decorating, but are on a strict budget Wonderbucks is the store for you. Very reasonably priced goods fill out this large shop and you'll be able to find everything from "have to have" items like towels, mugs, pots, and pans to accessory pieces such as decorative pillows, hard wood side tables, gorgeous lamps, and candleholders. This store even sells furniture, again, at pretty good prices; a good-sized micro-fibre chaise sofa will set you back about $800.
Be careful to sift through the items in Wonderbucks with caution as you will come across some cheap looking, and dare I say "tacky" pieces. But in amongst these you'll almost certainlly find some hidden gems that are great value for money. -

Wonderful Wonderbucks!
I recently had to redecorate my kitchen/dining area and didn't want the typical: Le Ikea or Home Depot or Home Sense. So I went over to good old Commercial Drive and started saving money. Filled with cheaper options for home items like towels, drawers, mugs and cups, plants (faux), vases, shower curtains and everything else you can think of.
I actually ended up spending a bit more than I'd liked, but I picked up an area rug that is reminiscent of an Indian bazaar. I also got a little painting with brown edges and gold lacquer that has flowers on it. -

Hellooooo Wonderbucks, my little high end more than dollar store, but you're damn cool. I found a really cool gift for a friend who loves football and coaches rugby (random illegal football moves coasters, WTF). So you know, I love this store. I will be back after the Christmas season to see what else they stock, but you can find pretty much any damn thing in this store. I saw a cool tea pot called the Saturn TeaPot, yes, hello.. I'll be back. And the cat at the front that lays on the counter is also fun to pet, I love cats!

I love Wonderbucks. I always find nifty things here to purchase.. great place to pick up some cups, dishes, things around the house, maybe some inspiration for a new project? What's better than the stuff they carry is their prices. Hey, hey! Only complain is that this place needs to be 5 times bigger! Well, I can still hope can't I?

Madness! This store sells just about everything, almost including the kitchen sink! If not the sink, then certainly everything around it. It reminds me of Winners a little bit, random quality items amongst a plethora of random inexpensive knick knacks and often useful items that you just hate spending your hard earned cash on...like towels! And dishes and glasses and candles and plants and picture frames and can openers and...and...you get the picture. Handy!
