Review from Alex P.
I don't read a lot of comic books any more, but my friends and I do play our fair share of MTG. Wizards is always a great place to go for stuff of that sort -- they have a good selection of card sleeves, deck boxes, and other accessories, and reasonable prices on cards (packs, singletons, etc).
The atmosphere is a cross between chill and professional, which is kinda weird, but it works. The staff are quite friendly and I've had some good conversations here. The store is tidy and organized, and it's easy to find what you're looking for.
Now that my fiancé no longer lives near campus I don't visit this store as much, but it's still a great stop, especially if you're in the area. -

Wizard's Comics offers something often overlooked - Customer Service. It sounds simple, but it really isn't. Especially with something that can be daunting or overwhelming to start with.
There really is a comic for anyone, and the staff at Wizard's Comics will try their best to help you find a fit. While not the largest of stores, their selection is impressive, diverse, and the staff are knowledgeable.
If you aren't sure where to begin, or what sort of a comic to get a friend or loved one, you're going to want to come to Wizard's first. You'll probably want to visit on a weekday, if possible, and go talk to Brandon. Brandon is a savant in the art of matching a person to the book for them. A few questions later you will have options in hand.
It may not be in stock - and if it isn't, it can be ordered for you. Easy peasy.
Collectibles, games, Magic cards, and manga are also available at the store.
So is there a comic book out there for you? Head to Wizard's Comics and find out. -

I decided to pop into Wizard's earlier today while out for a walk with my wife, and the dog. I had been looking for one particular graphic novel to complete a series, but it wasn't stocked at the shop I usually frequent. I took a chance, and it paid off as the guy behind the counter quickly looked it up on his computer and directed me to the shelf that contained it. Instead of charging the Canadian SRP, they use the US SRP, then add the weekly currency conversion (which was 2% this week). Much better than paying the Canadian SRP.
It's not a huge store, but if they have what you want, then the size doesn't really matter. I like that it's not crowded (unlike another comic shop I've reviewed on Yelp), and everything is easy to find. The store was pretty busy - full of guys playing a card game, or RPG (I'll admit to not paying much attention to what they were doing). I was impressed that I could be in and out of the shop with the comic I came looking for in just a few minutes. -

WIzard's is located just off Whyte, near the U of A and is a decent store. I'm not much into comics anymore but I enjoyed them as a kid so it was fun to just look around.
They offer a good selection of comics, although I am not sure what is good and not these days, but they don't have a huge selection. They carry collectibles as well, but I found that selection to be pretty small too. Their main focus is definitely comic books.
The store is rather small and the staff is great. I can see why a lot of people go here. They get to know you and do their best to make you a regular. It seems they have a loyal customer base and their staff is the reason. -

Wizard's seems like it's pretty much limited to comic books and graphic novels, and not so much "collectables" like their signage would have you believe.
The place was really small but not cramped and they had a lot of boxes for back issues in the center of the store. New issues and graphic novels lined the walls. It's definitely a place I'd go if I was looking for any missing issues in a collection or if I just wanted to pick up the latest issues in any titles I'm currently following. But that's about it, unfortunately. Their manga selection was limited to about 6 volumes on a dusty shelf in the corner. Very sad looking. XD;
They did have some collectables but there wasn't really much to pick from, especially not in comparison to most comic book shops these days. -

I like the Wizards sign over this store. It's cute and catchy, so lots of people who aren't into comics necessarily know where this store is. By mostly default I've come to know stores like this. My old boyfriend was into comics and my partner now is into D&D. This isn't his favourite store for Dungeons & Dragons books and accessories, but they do have a small selection and some good stuff that goes on sale every once in a while. Mostly they sell comics here, old and new, classic and more underground. They've also got lots of collectibles stuff: hockey cards, figurines, etc. This is a smaller store than, say, Warp 2 Comix, but it's neat and well-organized. The staff is mostly younger guys who are friendly and helpful and the store's located conveniently just off Whyte Ave.

I ended up at Wizard's one day because I was looking for magazine preservation bags of a certain size, and Wizard's happened to have them, and was able to sell them to me loose so that I did not have to buy an entire package of them. While I was there I had a chance to browse the selection of comics and collectibles. The store is a lot smaller than other comic shops I frequent, but the selection is decent for the size. There are some back issues but mostly there are the latest issues. The collectibles are mostly in the front of the store behind a class counter and in display cases. A very cool little shop if you happen to be in the area and need a comics fix.

Compared to some other chain stores out there, I think Wizards takes the time to get to know their clients and it pays off. They've made a loyal buyer out of me- the store is a little cramped, but I would say that it feels homey. When you need to find rare items or have an issue that is hard to find, try them first!

Wizards is a great little establishment. Not a huge selection but has a very good one. The employees are very friendly and turned me into a regular because of that exact factor, even with other comic shops more in my normal route home.
