i may be slightly biased because i live right around the corner, but withrow park is my favourite place in the city.

on a sunny afternoon, you'll find people reading under the shade of trees, playing soccer, strolling with their dogs, running around with their children, etc. and the summer farmer's market is a great bonus.

great place to be when the sun is out. :)

I'm biased because I live near this park, but it's quite wonderful.

    VIBE
It's usually unassuming and relaxed. Lots of leafiness and sometimes tai chi or yoga takes place here.

I've brought my nieces here and I don't know what it is but man, the mommies stick together like the Babysitter's Club or something. I got snubbed by the yummy mommies!

    THE GOODS
Relaxed. Amenities: An off leash dog area south near Withrow; a soccer field and baseball diamond; a hockey/skating rink in the winter; playground; wading pool and a tennis court.

They also have a farmer's market in the summer and sometimes they have Shakespeare or plays in the park.

Riverdale Perk is right at the bottom of the park. A lovely addition to the neighbourhood.

    OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK
    WIth-row or With-rowt you, I'd rather be with-row.
A must, if you're on the east side and an easy route to walk up to the Danforth from Leslieville. #discoverywalks

I love that there are even reviews on parks on this site! Ha! I'm totally in!
I moved to this area a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised to learn that there are THREE parks super close to me - ALL with skating rinks! Yay!!

So, pointing out right now, that it's December and I've only gone to this park for skating. As such this review is a bit limited.

The park isn't huge, but it's a decent size with a good off-leash dog area. The rink isn't huge, but is a good size. They have pretty decent hours for general "pleasure" skating (no hockey allowed!) and tons of hours for "shinny" (pick-up hockey). There is an indoor changing area and washrooms. You need your own skates - no rentals available.

It's amazing to have a skating rink in the neighbourhood! I can't wait to go back!

I like this park - one of many in the neighbourhood.  This one has a fenced off area for dogs (Yay!).  It's a bit muddy on rainy days - but a fantastic place to hang out.  A few days ago, I saw a ton of kids tobogganing down the hill!

Came here on Canada Day with my friend and her daughter to see the neighbourhood fireworks.

It was a great choice for a family-friendly evening. The fathers in the area came together and did a few displays. There was lots of space and not at all crowded, even with LOTS of families in attendance. Way better than dragging the kids into a sea of people to see the big shows. We brought a blanket and hung out for a good hour or so. It was nice and the fireworks they set off were better than I'd anticipated.

I highly recommend this park for Canada Day fireworks with the family.

on the west side, should you want to try to isolate yourself from the outside world and bake in the sun or lounge in the shade, should you want to have a makeshift game of capture the flag, should you have a romantic date in the middle of winter and want somewhere a little less urban city hall and a bit more forest like, you should want to visit withrow park.

at withrow there is not a possibility of getting lost at all, as it is clearly flanked on each side of its rectangular shape by the following streets: logan avenue, mcconnell avenue, carlaw avenue and bain avenue.  thus, though the view is far and wide from one end to the other, you can still see it.

If you are a sports fan you will be pleased as there is much to do whether you are participating or spectating.  they have tennis courts, a skating rink, a baseball diamond, bocce, a rugby/football/soccer field and a pool.

the park itself was built in the early 1900s by a city alderman and later part founder of the CNE.  His name was John Jacob Withrow (Jingle Hymer Schmidt!).

its flanked on all sides by neighbourhoods filled with families and cushioned from the view and noise of really busy streets.  In addition to the many activities you can attend to there, there is also an organic farmers market that runs from may to october.

the above website is for the farmers market.  the following one is a link to the toronto parks website:  http://www.toronto.ca/...
