Best green curry in town. Second best pad thai in town. Best spring rolls in town that comes with not nearly enough sauce. The salmon and eggplant is surprisingly delicious!
One of the best thai places I've been to and we come here fairly regularly. The SO used to work next door and he came for lunch all the time. The staff/owners recognize him and when we come for dinner, they always come by and chat. Super warm, super friendly people. Above are a few of our favourites.. -

Best Thai I've had yet in Vancouver. The staff is very friendly and authentically Thai to boot. The Pad Thai reminded me of my favorite street vendor in Bangkok and as far as I'm concerned that's a very good thing.
Nice space with super high ceiling and the prices are pretty good for the portions and quality of food.
Will definitely be heading here again in the future. -

If I don't eat here monthly, I start to get withdrawals. If the staff sees you once, they'll remember you forever and greet you with thereafter with a friendly, warm welcoming.
I usually judge a Thai restaurant by it's Pad Thai. Why? Because it's simple, but also easy to tell the quality of products that they use (authentic or not) and how experienced the joint is.
Wimaan does it right! Unlike most quick fix places, Wimaan uses good noodles, sauce that isn't goopy and sweet, but tangy and complimentary. Each time I eat at the restaurant, I go against my usual characteristics of sticking to what works, and make sure that I always try something new. Do date, I still haven't tried everything on the menu after two years, or so, but each newly explored menu item is outstanding! When does this happen? It's like Christmas and giving your taste buds a present of a new dish that's packed with memorable flavours!!
Each trip, though, it is a sure bet that I must order the following (AND YOU SHOULD, TOO):
1. Pad Thai
2. Thai Iced Tea
3. Thai Iced Coffee
4. Spring Rolls
Start with that and explore others - you won't be sorry! :-D -

Ok, I only ordered spring rolls and Pad Thai. It was a quick fix of carbs and calories! (Anyone who hasn't had Thai as comfort/hangover food has really been missing out!)
But it was $20 and I'm not sure that was worth it. Please correct me if I'm wrong? 20 bucks for PT and spring rolls?
Spring rolls-4 star; pretty good. Large amount, too. Way better than Bob's.
Service-5 star (but it was take out; not much to go by here). Sweet server, efficient. Ready in 10 minutes.
Pad Thai-only 3 prawns??? Really? I couldn't even tell if they were fully cooked. I still ate them...and why do places not peel the tail? I don't get that. Still, they were a good size.
I never understood any of this "ketchup" business, as that just wasn't an issue in NY. Well, this PT was certainly tasty, but yep, all ketchup!
So, sorry, but this is still a three. It IS better than Bob's however (much better).
I definitely know that it was enough food, as I feel sick now, but I'm not sure if this is the ultimate goal when ordering Thai food?
If price is no object, try it for yourself! -

Given I'm not expert on Thai food, this is the best place we've come across so far in our adventures. We've never had a bad dish here, and the family that owns the restaurant are very friendly and helpful.

Came here last week for a casual family dinner. There were 6 of us, but we were seated promptly in the nearly empty resteraunt. It was Saturday, 5:30 PM and I was surprised to see so few people in such a large, spacious place. This would normally be a red flag, but it turned out to be an awesome place.
Since there were so many of us, we decided the best bet would be to each choose and entree and share nibbles of each dish. I stuck to my veggie pad thai, but everyone else enjoyed the variety. The food came out piping hot, made to order in a timely manner. All the dishes were presented nicely, with a wide range of aroma and colours. My pad thai was very standard but also very tasty. The portions were large enough to share and I still had to get a fair amount packed up.
The prices were on par for the quality and service you get. This place isn't fancy, but super tasty so I would go again if I were in the area.

Decent food, slightly over priced when compared to its neighbours. I prefer the sushi or vietnamese places within a block - both are reasonably priced and high quality. I live/work in the area and walk by daily - never once seen this place busy. Also noticed its for sale so I doubt it will be around long.

I know that when some people go to Thailand, they only eat Pad Thai and Thai curries. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I discovered some amazing dishes while there. I'm always on the hunt for restaurants that do them well at home.
Everything I've ever had at Wimaan has been delicious. Some of the dishes are even better than I had in Thailand. My faves? Lad Naa, Drunken Noodles, lettuce wraps, Tom Yum, and a beef-lime dish whose name I can't remember.
I'm probably here 2 or 3 times a month. The ambiance isn't very exciting, but the servers are friendly and fast, and they always remember me. They have a hot sauce that you should definitely try, but you have to ask for it.
Also, in any restaurant you go to in Thailand, there's a condiment stand with 4 jars containing fish sauce, sugar, chillies, and vinegar. In Vancouver, you generally have to ask for it. Some places won't have it even if you do ask. Not only does Wimaan provide one on request, they roast and grind their chillies everyday. They're amazing!Listed in: Weeknight dinners

I can't write the most extensive review of this place, as every time I go I order the same two dishes: Green curry and pad thai.
As someone who doesn't eat seafood, i was thrilled that the wonderfully friendly waitress not only told me that they could make my dishes without oyster sauce, but she seemed to understand my request as well, which I have found rare in the thai food industry.
The service always seems to be on par, the (two) dishes consistent, and the waitresses always greet and thank you in thai!
and Singha! Bonus! -

A co-worker recommended this Thai restaurant awhile back and she took me over to this place to eat. The food was great but on some dishes like their daily specials, they can go a bit over board by adding new things onto the dish. I had a lunch special the very first time and I didn't know what to expect. The dish that I ordered had whole bitter beans or peppercorn on it. I must remember to read carefully before I order!
The staff is friendly and they know how to deal with the lunch hour crowd. The service is quick so that's a bonus! -

I've had nothing but good experiences at this neighbourhood family-run restaurant. It's nothing flashy - it's actually got pretty ugly flowered table covers, the lights are always too bright and it's rarely busy. But it's a quiet place to go for a casual lunch or dinner without reservations. Lunch for two is around $20.
I went with a friend and her baby. There was plenty of room for her to park the stroller and we got really speedy service. That was especially good because her baby starts shrieking if he stays out for too long. It was a tasty, filling meal at a reasonable price. It's a place I'd take a friend or a family member, but I'd shoot for something with more atmosphere if I were trying to impress a date. -

This place has the best thai iced tea I've tasted so far. Their pad thai was also very good. The noodles were cooked perfectly and not greasy in any way. It came with 4 shrimp. Excellent service.

I've only ever come for lunch because I work near here. The lunch menu is much shorter than the dinner menu, but it's decently priced, comes with soup or salad, and the food is always served pretty quickly. I've enjoyed everything I've eaten here. It's also super quiet at lunch so it's a nice place to wind down or take a friend to chat. I only eat the vegetarian stuff here but they'll do you up right.

On Broadway ... Unassuming and tasty. Perfect place for a lunch break.

This place is pretty inconsistent. I've been here a number of times over the years and there are times where it's spot on and others where I've been on the receiving end of a greasy, flavour-less mess.
Ages ago, I took a one-day cooking course on Thai cuisine. There they broke down the rules quite simply; Thai cooking relies on the combination and balance of five different elements: saltiness, sourness, sweetness, spiciness and crunchiness. Here, however, the food is a bit off-kilter and the flavour hovers mainly in the salty realm. They are faithful to the Thai tradition of making sure most of your ingredients are as fresh as they could possibly be. Their Tom Yam Kun is pretty good, however. -

The owners here are SO accommodating and can make a mean green curry! I love the hot and sour soup here and the basil dishes are to die for.
They will make your dishes veggie friendly and skip out on the fish sauce, etc if you request it. Another bonus!! -

The green curry seafood, dry not with coconut milk and the red Padang prawns are the best things on the menu, the pad thai and green papaya salad are very good also. They have all the western Thai standards and sometimes, mainly in summer specials based on what is fresh that day. The spicing is true Thai. It is never very busy which means it's good to drop in for a quick bite.

was here for a staff lunch... (we are seriously exhausting the near-by restaurants!)
very quiet when we walked in...
our server wasn't overly friendly nor was he stand-offish...
the salad served was pretty bland but it tasted fresh. (house salad)
i had the pad-thai.
delicious! i asked for mild spice but it came out seeming to not have any bite to it at all. which is ok with me since i now seem to favor real taste over spiciness. (but i was hoping for a mild bite..)
the size portions are adequate, a little on the smaller side which can be good too considering the larger than needed portions usually served in restaurants nowadays.
one of the doctors had the green curry which i sampled. mmm, that was extremely good, i think the next time i am there, i will opt for the green curry!
like i said, the service wasn't horrible but it wasn't exactly memorable either. -

Portions large, value huge! Some of the best Thai in this city. If you are a lover of Thai food, Wimaan is worth checking out, and you will not be disappointed by the food or service. The only caveat is that the restaurant occupies a large space and does not often get full. If you are truly in it for great Thai food, this shouldn't matter. Aside from the non-bustling atmosphere, the décor is classic and classy Thai, and the staff are all incredibly polite, friendly and accommodating. This is certainly a spot to get the typical favorites such as pad thai or a curry ($10 each, a total steal!), but it is also a place to let yourself go a bit and TRUST that these people know good food--try the Plaa Raad Prig, a deep fried whole fish with a beautifully sweet 3 spice sauce on top (a fun dish for two to share with rice! Around $20 depending on the fish that they have in). Great for groups and fit for foodies, you can spend hours here with no pressure to leave. Wine is very reasonably priced and transit is close if you need it. Great for take out, too.

I've been a fan of this family-run restaurant since they were in Delta, maybe 15 years ago. I worked nearby and the staff went regularly esp for lunch. Since their move to Vancouver unfortunately I don't go as often. The restaurant is large and rarely full, so it is easy to get a table. Service is quick but you don't feel rushed. The food is great and the servings generous. We always take food home. The servers know their menu and make interesting recommendations. Their pad thai is still my favourite, even better than in Thailand! You can chose the spice level and there is no added MSG.

hmmm...I've had really good food here and pretty mediocre food here, so my review could fall on either side of the tasty/only sort of tasty fence. The first time I came here the pad thai was great, and so was the green curry, but the second visit yielded sort of salty, but not as tasty menu items. Still, it has a nice ambience, is reasonably priced, and is probably worth a try.
