The William Ashley Sale is an insane circus of consumerism. People turn into demons inside the warehouse. The aisles are tricky to traverse with huge carts and people going in every direction loading up their carts with just about every kind of house-ware imaginable. In spite of all this, I like to go to the sale. They have great deals on kitchenwares, knives, pots, pans, garden things and stuff you never knew you needed. A very good place to go for gifts, but it is very easy to forget what you were looking for, so bring a list - a very detailed list.

Make sure to show up before opening time because even then you will be corralled under a tent. My advice is to bring a large coffee to keep warm while you wait, but coffee is my solution to just about everything.

Every Year in late November, Early December William Ashley holds a gigantic warehouse sale. Keeping in mind that William Ashley wares are tres-expensive to begin with, the heavily discounted prices are still above Kitchen Stuff Plus etc, but you can find some fantastic bargains on Housewares and Gifts.

Good Buys: Pro and Semi-pro Kitchen Knives, Bamboo Cutting Boards, Sake Sets, Cutlery Sets, Bath Towels, Placemats, Christmas Decorations (endless), gourmet food items (I know it sounds creepy) and Unique/whimsical/practical gifts.

its always a zoo, you shop with a cart and you bundle your purchases into cardboard boxes to take home.

** NOTE ** This is THE place to buy Ridel wineglasses that EVERYBODY registers for when they get married. We bought a set here for less than half price, and they are a fortune usually (in the $85 range depending on the set). Buy a couple and use as last minute wedding presents, people will love you forever, and you saved some serious dough.

Wow, what a zoo.  The line-up to get in moves quickly, but once inside all the pathways are clogged with people pushing carts overladen with discounted kitchenware.  The deals are good, but William Ashley is expensive at the best of times, and so the stuff on offer isn't cheaper by any means than discount retailers.  Watching all the people around you snatching up dripless umbrellas and silicone cutting boards makes it hard to resist the hype, though--don't go unless you're willing to accept that you might spend a bundle!

P.S. Heads up, you'll have to pay $5 for parking unless you're willing to leave your car a kilometre from the sale.

Insane circus of consumerism is an understatement. All of the previous reviews are true. I have gone since 2000 when we came from Ottawa just to see this. We will not miss this ever. We go twice a year and that is because our car is not big enough for only one trip.
