Review from Louise G.
When you ask people in St. John's these days where the best fish and chips is they all say it's this place. Except many cannot remember the name, because they haven't been there long perhaps. Or maybe they've changed names? Or maybe they've just got one of those forgettable/confusable names and everyone just expects that you know what place they are talking about when they say : "The place out by the Ferry, right off the side of the road, oh darn, wassits name? Crazy Horses??? Wild Stallion?.... aw shaggit, just go there - you'll love it!!!"
Such was the case with us when we visited. Google searches and local business searches were useless. Phonecalls by brother-in-law who called his family, also useless. So we went.
We came. We saw. We conquered a tonne of delicious food.
Wild Horses couldn't drag me away from this plate of fish, chips, dressing, gravy and peas.

Review from Yo U.
The fantastic fresh fish at Wild Horses seems to be let down only by the standard overcooked Newfoundland chips that accompany it. Seriously, I wish that North Americans would try their hands at making proper British style chips to accompany deep fried fish. There are very likely such places that do, but save one pub run by an Englishman, I have yet to set foot in them.
The service here is effortlessly charming, but the premises could do with being a little bit cleaner. On the day that I visited, there was a cup of gravy that had possibly been dropped by someone taking out food. It had been overlooked by at least one staff member -- and possibly more -- who had popped in and out while I was on the premises. They couldn't have missed it: it was set upright on one of the front door steps and there was a gravy trail around it. Also, the table tops were a bit grungy with crumbs and spilled salt. They could have done with a quick wipe down. These minor quibbles aside, the staff and owners at Wild Horses could well enjoy a bright future if they take a few small steps to improve their game. All in all, Wild Horses is recommended if you're hungry for fish and chips.
