I don't like coffee and I generally don't like cafes.
So for me to like a place like this says something.
My girlfriend loves to come here, so I end up going more often than I would just by myself, but it's still pretty good!
As I said, I don't really like coffee, so I can't tell you about that. What I CAN tell you about is the service- everyone who works there seems friendly and attentive. The pastries tend to be hit-and-miss. Some of them are DELICIOUS, like eat 10 of them in a row delicious. Some pastries are crusty and don't really taste like anything...
The trick is that they all LOOK good. So you can't judge the food here by how it looks, at least not in my experience.
For example, they have this raspberry jam and white chocolate cup thing (my list of words for baked goods ends at 'bread', so bear with me here...) that's ultra-yum-licious, but they also have some tasty looking banana bread that ends up being something akin to eating banana-flavoured crumbly sandstone with nuts in it.
So you gotta experiment a bit.
The hot chocolate /w vanilla and chili is what I get all winter, and it's a failsafe recipe for instant warmth and tastiness.
There are a couple complaints about this place though:
First, the way they've set up the counter is.. interesting. follow the (not-so-visible) signs and you'll find where you need to go
Second, there are no plug-ins anywhere. I suspect this is on purpose, so they don't get people parking themselves somewhere for hours on end.
Last, it's hard to tell how much you're going to be paying for something. Price tags are hard to find!
Overall, this place ain't bad, as long as you already know what to get, how much it is, and where to line up to pay. -

I still enjoy the food at Wild Earth, but they're starting to drive me insane because of one thing: the lack of prices! Why on Earth would you have a bunch of products for sale without prices?! Want to know how much that square is? Either buy it, or ask an employee. How much is the chocolate brownie beside the til? I had to ask (and it's $5!!). Maybe they don't put prices on things because it'll scare away customers.
Please, Wild Earth, put prices on the things you sell! Yes, there are chalk boards with prices of some things, but I think about half the stuff they sell isn't priced at all. Grr!1 Previous Review: Show all »

I've been wanting to visit Wild Earth Bakery and Cafe for a while now. It's close to the veterinary clinic I take my cat and to where my massage therapist practices, so I had plenty of opportunity to visit before. Not sure why I waited so long...
This cafe is amazing! It's cozy, with an array of different chairs and table groupings. The friend I went with says that the cafe is usually busy, and today was no exception. We managed to find two chair to sit in, and shared a table with another couple playing crib. Turns out, the lady of the couple sitting next to us overheard a part of our conversation about gluten sensitivity, and recommended a book to read - turns out, she was a gluten specialist! After the couple left, a family seated itself next to us. One of their daughters proceeded to spill her hot chocolate. The family handled the accident well, and the staff was helpful in quickly cleaning up the mess.
Being a student, I only had a loose leaf tea, and was able to refill my mug with hot water for seconds. My friend also purchased a tea, and the rosemary beef stew. Though I had just eaten a late breakfast, the stew roused my appetite.
Overall, I'd say I enjoyed the atmosphere, people, staff, and food and drink at the cafe. The only thing that was not so great was the draft from the window next to which we were seated. -

I've been going to Wild Earth for probably 3+ years now. Like Gord L., I'm not a coffee-drinker, so I don't go there for that. However, I'm told (by reliable sources), that their coffee is quite good.
The ambiance of this large coffee shop is wonderful. Lots of comfy seating, nooks and crannies make it quite a nice spot for a chat or a quick bite.
To me, however, Wild Earth is more a bakery than a coffee shop. I can't say as I've tried everything there, but I've tried a good chunk. As others have said, their wraps, sandwiches and salads are quite good. But it's their baking that sets them apart. My perennial favourites are the Raspberry-White Chocolate scones and their cinnamon buns.
I love their cinnamon buns and they seem to have something for everybody. Whole wheat or white dough, raisins or not. The dough is wonderfully flavored and the buns themselves have a great, up-front cinnamon flavour. They way they bake them turns some of the cinnamon, raisin, butter and sugar mixture into a toffee like consistency. Love it.
The only knock I have on Wild Earth is the service. Sometimes I find the staff to be a little short or disinterested. This could be a factor of being understaffed or just tired. Not sure....
Overall, though, if you're looking for a nice place to have a quick snack, coffee or chat, this is one of the best in Edmonton! Check it out!Listed in: Edmonton's (and Area) Best…

I've found my new favourite coffee shop in the city, I think. Just maybe.
Swung by last weekend for a morning date with Sarah J. Now, after reading this review, you can't say I didn't warn you when I tell you that it might be awfully tricky to find a seat here on a Saturday morning. Or Saturday afternoon. Or anytime on a Sunday, at all. Busy busy busy!
My muffin was fresh and delicious and full of berries. My coffee was fresh and hot and just what I needed!
We snagged a seat the bar by the window, luckily. Even though the joint was hopping, it never felt too loud, or like we couldn't have a conversation. I really like that about this place!
When I really feel like splurging, I'll try one of their infamous cinnamon buns. And when I have a Friday night with nothing to do, I'm going to check out their live music scene - NO COVER! -

Ok it's time for a re-yelp. Now I know that I have professed my distaste for yucky coffee and my interpretation of bad service about Wild Earth in my previous yelp, I feel the need to clear the air because there seem to have been some recent changes.
1.The beans. Recently Wild earth changed their coffee beans and even the decaf Americano is to die for. Yes, the coffee has gone from awful to amazing. Thanks WE!
2. In the past I expressed disappointment about the unappreciative service. Well, not sure if it's the end of 99 ST construction nearing or the new coffee beans but my local barristas and the owner of WE have been very polite and even chatty. It's appreciated because I like to feel that my regular business and hard earned dollars are going to a good place with nice people.
I take it back. Re-Yelp! WE is a decent place and it's the only place to go for a good coffee in Mill Creek. Try the Thai wrap grilled too, it's delish!1 Previous Review: Show all »

My friend ordered 2 cakes from here for her husbands birthday. One was vanilla with strawberry filing, and the other was chocolate with peanut butter filing. Both cakes were extremely dry and not even worth the calories of my first and only bites. Cake should be moist, not bone dry.

A good place to people watch, very busy with views of 99st as well as the Route 99 parking lot. It can be hard to get a spot on the bike rack if you peddle over.
The soup is usually good, but the sandwiches are unappealing. The scones are delicious, especially the ones drizzled with chocolate. The coffee is ok, as is the service: not wow-worthy but adequate.
I enjoy grabbing a stool by the window and enjoying the scenes unfolding around me. A good place to write. -
Review from Kaylee L.
Wild Earth is a neighborhood bakery with a number of delicious baked goods (like the white chocolate pumpkin spice scone!) for you to enjoy while you sip a beverage of choice (try the chai latte!). They also have sandwiches, wraps, breakfast buns, and other things you'd expect a bakery to have.
Seating is sort of limited because it get's pretty busy, but if you can't find a comfy chair in the back room and don't want to awkwardly stand around, they also have take-and-bake prepped goodies in a cooler for you to take on the kitchen and bake like a boss at home.
ps.
Their Chili is pretty fantastic.
Also, the Wild Earth grocery beside the bakery is pretty awesome. A lot of the inventory sold there is local, organic, and delicious with comparible prices to Big-Box Stores. They also sell Dinner-to-Go containers for those on the fly! -

WHY HAVE I NEVER VISITED THIS PLACE BEFORE! This amazing cafe/bakery is in my hood. Last night, my PR gang suggested coffee at Wild Earth. I arrived early to get some reading time in. As soon as I entered I was blown away. This cafe is huge first of all. Secondly, it has this small mountain community feel to it. I felt like I was in Jasper or Banff.
I ordered a double chai soy latte. It was amazing. I then waited for my friends to arrive before I ordered a little something something to nibble on!
The choices were vast! There was lines of jars with yummy cookies. There were tortes, butter cups and even puddings in small jars that you could take home. There is of course a plethora of loaves that you can take home from bread to zucchini, chocolate chip, pecan loaf. If you want something more to fill your tummy there is soup and sandwiches as well!
I opted for the peanut butter chocolate cookie. It was glorious! The seating is vast. There is even prepared baking and cooking that you can take home and finish it off yourself: soups, cookies, cinnamon buns.
I highly recommend this cafe for breakfast, lunch, dinner, a place to grab a coffee or tea and chat or to pick up some bread for the week.
I left with a beautiful loaf of banana walnut bread! YUM! You HAVE to go! Support local and healthy!Listed in: Veggie Heaven

I just went to Wild Earth Bakery tonight and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. There was nothing too spectacular about the cappuccino and apple cake I had, but it was still good. I thought my friends pumpkin bread tasted better..it was really soft and gooey and had a nice icing on the top.
I found it a little confusing as to where to order because there was a few little "gaps" in the counter that looked like ordering spaces (like maybe directly under the drink menu would make sense) but after ordering at the wrong spot we got it the second time around lol. The staff also seemed a little confused at times but once I had my order I wasn't too worried about it.
I give it 4 stars just because the space is really nice and chill. It's a good place to sit and visit but I don't think I will order the food next time as it was pretty expensive. I was also a little dissapointed that my cappuccino had a really nice foam and dark espresso around it-perfect for etching something on top, only to have a blob that looked like R2-D2 (or whatever that short robot from Star Wars is called..) waving with a crooked arm..but my friends mocha thing had a nice heart on top at least! I guess only guys get latte hearts haha.
Oh yeah and there's lots of parking when we went so no need to park on busy 99th street! -

This is a must-visit for me every time I'm in the neighbourhood (though I lament the closure of Scona Road, for it complicates my travels significantly). I love the location, the decor and the food. The cinnamon buns (one of my eternal weaknesses) are very decadent and the recipe is based that of the owner's grandmother. You get to choose one with or without raisins and nuts. Great breads, muffins and scones as well. Seating used to be highly limited, but after the renovations, that improved significantly. The plum spot is by the fireplace at the back; the benches are created out of large cross-sections of logs. I always get a good vibe here. I'll be glad when the roadworks conclude and I can visit it more regularly.

Wild Earth Cafe and Bakery is a Millcreek institution. However, you don't have to live in Millcreek to enjoy it.
Situated on 99th Street and easily accessible by bus it's centrally located between Whyte, downtown and the always wonderful Saskatchewan Drive.
I particularly enjoy the Bacon Sunrise sandwiches but you'd be hard-pressed to find something that wasn't extremely agreeable. They have a massive selection of extremely delicious baked goods. I'm a fan of the carrot cake but you could come here every day never exhaust their menu.
I don't drink the stuff but I'm told the coffee is delicious. They also have compostable, bio-degradable to-go packaging, something that always score a few brownie points from me.
They've just undergone a recent renovation which has added a lot more seat space space both and room for the kitcken/bakery as well. I'm not the biggest fan of the decor, it feels very showhomey, but this is my go-to spot for warm drinks within walking distance of my house.
If you're close by, driving by or biking by you should probably check it out. -

Another amazing bakery/cafe in Edmonton. Recently expanded and renovated with a warm earthy, cottage feel, there's now more seating, larger selection of goods and you can also order a "build your own cake". Always fresh, amazing quality. Mini scones are the best, sausage rolls, cake bites, salads, tarts and pretty much everything is fab!

(slightly worried about the owner's attitude according

I like Wild Earth.
I like the location of it and I like the atmosphere. I don't like how busy it can get. There have been a couple times where I have gone in and there were no tables available. I guess that's inevitable though.
These guys have pretty decent coffee and the definitely have some tasty treats. The baking always seems pretty fresh which is why it is always good.
The prices are typical for a coffee shop these days.
It's a nice place. If you haven't been, give it a shot! -

I was in the neighborhood this morning and finally had a chance to step into the Wild Earth Bakery under the pretext of satiating my morning caffeine craving. But once I laid eyes on the cooler filled with delicate tarts and cakes, I knew I'd be leaving with more than just a small dark roast with cream and honey.
Cinnamon buns, scones, and muffins vied for attention in baskets on the counter, but I went for the almond croissant and was transported to instant heaven. It was that rare perfect combo of moist and flaky (meaning the layers peeled off beautifully - is there a word for that?), with a light sugary glaze on top to secure the sliced almonds in place. I followed this pure delight up with an even tastier treat - a tart. Pumpkin caught my eye, but creme brulee couldn't be passed up. My first contact with my favourite dessert in tart form was as dreamy as could be imagined - the thick pastry shell was almost creamy, and it was moderately filled with an even creamier custard-style concoction, requisitely charred slightly on top.
Had I any inkling that Wild Earth Bakery was such an absolute delight I would've been frequenting it long ago. As it stands, I'll be back to claim that pumpkin tart shortly. -

A very bohemian atmosphere with reasonably priced, light food such as sandwiches, wraps, and baked goods of all kinds. The displays looked absolutely delicious. I just stopped in to grab a coffee - the medium roast was excellent. I saw lattes being prepared, with art on top (this always impresses me). I definitely want to come back to try a treat and maybe have a latte.

I've been driving by this café a lot lately and because I've heard such good things about this place I decided to go in and check it out. Right of the bat I loved the atmosphere; they have some nice seating by the windows and they have this one really nice wooden table with nice wooden chairs. That just happens to be the one spot everyone wants, so get there early to claim it. The place was pretty busy when I went in; there really weren't any more places to sit but I was lucky that one opened up by the time my latte was ready. My friends come in to this place all the time and they told me to try one of their tarts; well I have to say the apple and raspberry butter tart they have are really good! They have a few to choose from if you don't like apple or raspberry. They also have a lot of other yummy items to taste. They have a couple different kinds of banana bread; one with just walnuts and the other with walnuts and chocolate chips. They have cakes and different kinds of bars; they have this one chocolate overdose bar that is really thick and looks so yummy; that's a good item to share with someone.
Their lattes are really good and I've heard magical things about their hot chocolate so that's the next thing I want to try. I also want to check out some of their good items. They have yummy sandwiches and other great things too much on. They also have a couple of salads to choose from.
And the best thing about this place is that they café for planet earth so they use nothing but bridgeable coffee cups! Oh, if you happen to be an artist or a photographer you could sell some of your work from their store; I'm not sure how you would go about doing this but I'm sure the staff members would be able to fill you in. -

I stopped into the Wild Earth Bakery one day by accident when the line-up at Route 99 was too long for my liking. I needed something fast to quell my mood-debilitating hunger, and I lucked out here at Wild Earth, where the make a quick, mean egg, ham and cheese sammy for under $4, cooked on a fresh bun to boot! Impressive. I'd kinda been avoiding this place because I find the "Wild Earth" name somewhat misleading. It's next door to the Wild Earth Food store, yet another grocery outfit that's pretending to be all enviro and earthy, when it's just a gimmick to get people in the door. At the bakery they're "striving" to be organic - but they're not. That's not to say that they don't make delicious baked goods: cinnamon buns, raspberry & white chocolate scones, butter tarts and more. If they've got something good, why do they have to do it under the pretext of something else, which they're not?!
