This place is certainly worth the drive to Bowness.
I love MEC as much as the next person, but if you're a dedicated climber or looking for a great personal experience trying out new gear this is the place to be. They specialize in high performance and ice climbing gear, with the just the right clothing to keep yourself protected and mobile on the mountain. (Read: Arc'teryx) It's a cosy store that isn't overwhelming.
Solid variety of womens rock shoes and friendly staff that are more than willing to let you try out the harnesses before you buy and practice on their wall.
Props for having really cool vintage gear on display and an awesome website layout!Listed in: On belay?

If you're trying to achieve the Rocky Mountain High that John Denver crooned about in the 70's, then Wicked Gravity has all the climbing equipment you need to go "mano-a-mano" with the mountain.
He was singing about mountain climbing, right?
I'm sure he was, as I'm sure that if he were alive, he'd be singing the praises of this cool little independent climbing equipment store in Bowness.
Wicked Gravity carries carabineers, clothes, boots, harnesses, rock shoes, and ropes. All the mountain climbing equipment you need to increase your chances of returned intact after your mountain adventure.
As an added bonus, Wicked Gravity houses a mini rock-climbing wall you can use to test your gear. Better to be safe than sorry, after all!
