Very good! Wicked serves up a tasty Intelligentsia roast in a cute cafe with a charming homespun vibe. Visitors have a choice of a bar with tall chairs, cozy armchairs, or a big ol' table.
The most unique thing about Wicked to my mind is the liege waffle. It's $3 and I don't know what's in it, but it's incredible. It goes from being a light, fluffy thing on your fork to some delicious kind of coffee cake thing in your mouth, absolutely sans syrup. I don't know how they do it! I'll probably have a heart attack on the spot if I have another.... tomorrow, for brunch. For instance. Mmm.
Stop in for a cappuccino and take it on a stroll across the Granville bridge!

Good coffee (Intelligentsia! yesss) and cute rockabilly baristas. Decent paninis, and delicious-looking waffles. But the vibe here is a little weird. The place looks cozy and homey, but the patrons are all about business. I worked here for about an hour and it just didn't feel right.
Good place to stop in for a coffee and a snack and be on your way.

I have been going to this cafe for the past few years, one or two times every month, out of convenience. Before I list some of Wicked's drawbacks, I must state that the owner(s) and baristas take their tea and coffee very seriously. I respect this and am fairly loyal because of this.
However...the crowd always seems to be comprised of curt business people, haughty hipsters and tech geeks. Weird mix. There are also the regulars who simply lounge around because of the free wi-fi. The food is very average: dry muffins, tiny selection of cakes/pies and dry waffles. Why waffles, anyway? One more peeve...they only put out cream and skim milk for their beverages. This is bad for tea drinkers, and I like 3% for my coffee.
This cafe could be so much better, and should be more than simply "convenient". If they obtained some good baking (see Solly's and Grounds of Coffee for some hints, guys) and changed a few little things, it could be outstanding. The icky, loitering regulars really do bother me though...good thing I never hang around to enjoy my beverages.
This place can make a mean mocha. Very tasty, rich drink-- a coffee that reminds you what coffee should taste like. My large mocha was $5. Not cheap, but I'm used to good coffee costing that (oh, the pain).
For dessert (because a mocha is more like a main course ; ) ordered the caramel shortbread bar. The bar was super cold and felt like it was thawing out. From tasting it I am guessing that is the case because the shortbread tastes stale. Ew. Cute little place though, good place to read and has a quiet inviting feel (people sitting inside and out-- and it's March).
I am such a fan of this cute cafe. It is cozy and non-pretencious and only a block away from work. If you are looking for a jolt whether it is the morning or afternoon, Wicked is a place you need to try. The coffee is good and it isn't watered down. Their sandwiches and pastries are also delightful. It's pretty simple... good coffee with a casual feel. You feel comfortable and you enjoy your drink. What more do we want?
Needed a place to kill an hour so I fired up yelp and chose this cafe due to it's 4 star rating. Needless to say I wasn't too impressed. The place was busy. Yet that's still no excuse for the staff being rude. I asked if the wifi needed a password and barely recieved a reply. The 2nd time I asked, shre answered me with some annoyance. The chili was ok, but the matcha latte i ordered was more tepid then hot. I'm pretty sure it was foamed with a fork. On the plus side I grabbed a seat outside where i didn't have to listen to blaring music. Maybe i caught the place on a bad day. Sadly first impressions only happen once
Great coffee (they use Intelligentsia)! A bit hard to find a seat though, as they were really busy (which is a good sign of course)...but overall, would def come back.
4.5 STARS
Great place for a Coffee or Latte!
If you can find a seat - it has a good atmosphere - cozy with a good vibe.
They are using intelligentsia coffee - which started in Chicago. Artigiano was using these beans before they started their own (now 49th Parallel)
Latte was smooth and flavourful. They actually have Demerara Sugar in bulk...a BIG plus for those who enjoy a sweetened latte or coffee.
Baked goods looked good and original. Had a "Mars Crispy Bar" - Mars Bar meets Rice Krispy - it was good.
Service can be a little slow during busy times - but it is worth the wait.
Wicked is a nice place to visit.

I really like the roasted bean flavour here, and so does alot of others, as the room is always buzzing most mornings. They offer wifi which makes for more custmers to hang around... its a pleasant room with big kitchen table in the middle that everyone sits at, plus theres a few soft couches in the window, the room has a cool family feel to it... The only issue I have is they do not serve long shots (for flavour issues) but after many attempts in getting a misto the way I like it seemed near impossible, the only way was to ordered a triple shot, which makes a much larger and more expenisve drink... So be it then, we agree to disagree... But love that roast bean here and the cozy atmosphere.

A perfect Latté!
Great lil place to catch up with a friend or hide with a good book. I had a chocolate pistachio cookie for my breakfast appetizer, mmmmmmmm.

"No, I don't want to talk to you. I came here with my laptop to sit alone in silence and enjoy my delicious coffee and I'm not going to be social and I'm not moving."
I'm pretty sure that is what every patron of Wicked Café is thinking. But that's fine with me! The staff are nice and make reliably wonderful and artful lattes. I can't help but notice that every time I'm in here or walking by that the café is full of computer-accompanied loners. You can feel comfortable settling in to get some work done -- you won't be the only one glued to your electronic world!
As the weather warms up, the Wicked customers will too -- their wee street-side patio is usually buzzing with caffeine duos, sometimes even *gasp* trios!
I don't drink coffee so maybe coffee drinkers should skip this review. However, I am a tea drinker and I really love my tea!
Their tea selection is pretty good an when there are not a lot of people in the cafe, its a great place to read a book or catch up with a friend.
I used to live 2 blocks from this place and it was always nice to see the diversity in the customers. I was told by friends that their coffee is pretty good and apparently they do cool designs with their lattes so check it out if you're in the neighbourhood. Otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way for this spot.
How terribly sad! I have loved Wicked's coffee on Hornby. What I got yesterday on 7th, was a bitter, watery thing with no depth or body. So, I made a sad face and asked politely what might have happened. They politely made me another.... of the same. Then asked how it was. I was honest. They added a shot.... I accepted it, but did not enjoy the drink at all. The big guy doesn't like to complain. He spilled his out.
It put me off WIcked. I certainly will not return to this location.
JJ's has never let me down. Maybe I'm just a JJ's girl.
Sure, there's a Starbucks (or two... or three) around the corner from my apartment, but I love nothing better on a sunny (or rainy) Sunday morning than to buy a copy of the weekend paper and head just east of South Granville Street to The Wicked Cafe.
Small, cozy, and usually crowded (but in a good way), I try to get there early so i can get a comfy seat by the window (when patrons snag a table, they usually settle in for the long haul, so don't count on loitering around in wait of a space to clear).
Things that keep me coming back to Wicked? The carrot cake (mmm... cream cheese frosting!) and the Big Latte. I heart the Big Latte. Also, if I'm not lucky (or early) enough to get a spot, I just get my order to go and am perfectly content to window shop along South Granville.
PS: Check out the photos I posted of some of the latte art the baristas at Wicked can do for you -- lovely!

Wonderful espresso when I need a fix and am in the neighbourhood, the confections go up and down in quality they are back up these days.
Wicked Café is tucked away two blocks south of Broadway in the South Granville area. Although it's less high profile, this café competes quite well with the big fish of Vancouver's coffee scene like 49th Parallel, JJ Bean and Caffé Artigiano.
The espresso is excellent, and the coffee here is from Intelligentsia, one of the best coffee roasters south of the border. The baked goods and desserts are good and escape the standardization of some coffee shops, and I like the cute mini waffles and lemon bars. The ambiance is stylish but laid back, ideal for laptop nomads to take advantage of the WiFi.

The best coffee ever. I frequently have work on South Granville and we always get our coffee from Wicked....I've never been disappointed....and the sandwiches are the best as well.....esp the one with figs and brie. Makes my mouth water to just think of it. I'm very particular about my coffee and this places gets my nod.
If you spend any amount of time around the Broadway/Granville area, you know that there are any number of chain cafés to fulfill your need for caffeine. What you might not know is that Wicked Café is tucked away at Hemlock and 7th, and it offers a nice little antidote to the franchise. The coffee is consistently good, and they have an array of paninis and sweets to choose from as well. I like the paninis a lot, and though I've never had the sweets, they look fresh and tempting. They even have waffles on the menu. This place has a relaxed but funky vibe with art on the walls, a communal style table in the middle, and lots of interesting looking people hanging out doing work, reading the paper, or just watching the world go by. On warm days, you can sit outside and feel happy that you are contributing to local café culture.
