Wow! My wife got some gift certificates here, so we decided to make an adventure of it and make the trek here. We were not disappointed. The view is breathtaking and the facility is top class. As a surfer from southern Cali, I was excited to see a decent break from our room window. What a place, can't wait to come back. Maybe I can hide in one of the broom closets and stay behind...

Wow.
I've done my share of high-end places, but the Wickaninnish Inn is something really special. Yes, it is a beautiful building, great kitchen, well-cared for, in a spectacular setting, but what really did it for me was how completely genuine every single staff person was. Everyone on the property just seemed really happy to be there and happy to have me there to share the experience with them.
I've never had a hotel experience that really gives you that "coming home" feeling before. It was magical. -

Although I would have loved to stay here overnight, we did have the opportunity to have breakfast here.
If you're looking for delicious food with great views, I highly recommend the brunch. It wasn't crowded at all, and we were seated right away.
Then...we waited to get noticed. Which wouldn't be so bad, but due to the emptiness of the restaurant, I was surprised.
Got the peach/apple/strawberry juice to start, along with some coffee. I got the lemon buttermilk waffles, he got the fish and chips (it's brunch, why not?)
The waffles, although not lemony at all, were very delicious. The rhubarb and walnuts were a nice touch. He seemed to enjoy the fish and chips, and I can vouch for the fact that the chips were amazing.
The views are what make this place. It was absolutely POURING outside, but watching the waves was awe-inspiring.
What took out a star was the service. Our waitress, while quite nice, did not have much of a personality, and was kind of slow in taking our order, bringing our food, and closing us out.
I'd recommend this place, however, and strongly suggest a stop here for brunch.Comment from Sandy S. of Wickaninnish Inn 5/29/2010

Wow, having read the reviews, I'm wondering: did I miss something?
My guess is that my aversion to The Wick stems from the fact that I don't drive a gold-coloured Lexus. If I did, I am certain that I would have loved this place. However, I'm more of a black German auto sort of fella. And, as a result, I'm wondering if I actually visited the same place as all of the other reviewers...
Arguably, The Wick is trading on a name it built over the course of the past decade or so. No doubt in 1996 it was THE place in Tofino. World-class food. World-class view. World-class accommodation. Today, it is one of a handful of excellent alternatives when you head up island.
So why three stars? Quite simply, given the price you pay to stay here, it doesn't deliver; particularly the much vaunted restaurant which I was utterly disappointed with. That's not to say it isn't a nice experience spending some time here. Rather, it's a question of whether or not you've had a chance to compare The Wick versus its peer group in the area.
Is it a nice place to lay your head? Yes. Does it offer a spectacular view and passable food? Yes. Heck, you can even test drive a Lexus hybrid to replace your current planet-hating ride.
If this sounds like the sort of place that you'd like to spend $600+/night to stay at, you're in luck. Otherwise, I would suggest you do a bit of research before you hit the road. I can think of at least two places that, in my opinion, are on par with The Wick at a fraction of the price; however, they don't offer complimentary access to Japanese luxury cars. -

5 stars all the way. This place blew my socks off, looney toon style. You just need to go there and experience it to understand it.. did someone say honeymoon?
You stay classy, Tofino. -

Once upon a time I use to sit out on the deck and look down the beach to the rocks the Wik now lives on. Now I sit in the Wik looking back down the other way thinking I should have bought that place when it was offered for 250k.
The Wik is all and more than you want, need or expect. The cost of admission is worth the pleasure. I go and am only levered off the premises to have a beer with old friends down at the Blue Heron in town. Everyone owes themselves a 3 day stay at the Wik once in their lives, or as regularly as your bank account allows. Winter is great and much cheaper than the high season and there is much less chance of having fog till noon, take it from someone who lived on this beach for 5 years.
Can I give it 6 stars!!!!! -

Yeah.. I gotta go with the crowd on this one.... Staying here was one of our best experiences ever.
If you have a bucket list and want to stay in paradise... this is it. Located on what seems like the edge of the world, Wickaninnish Inn was the premier vacation my wife and I have ever had. Pricy, but breathtaking.
The town of Tofino was so cool..... I can't wait to return. -

My husband & I love, love, love the wickaninnish!
It has been a while since we have stayed there, (much too long for my liking!), but we have stayed at the wick 3 times in the past and wish to make it four very soon.
Each time we absolutely love it and never tire of anything having to do with the inn or the area. It is located in an amazing area with some of the best views on earth.
It is definitely a special place and one of our all time favorites.
I would recommend booking a room in the original building
on the top floor for the very best views. Just looking at some of the pics people have posted on yelp makes me sad (yet happy at the same time), I want to be there now!
A good time to go is spring or fall when the weather is a bit
inclement....it just adds to the ambiance and romantic feel of the area!
Hope when we go back, it is the same as we remember it! -

We've been here 2 out of 5 nights and I can't help it - I have to tell you now this place is 5/5 stars!
I'll start with the service, as it's exceptional. Personal notes left by the people who clean your room, restaurant service that makes you feel like you're a regular when you've only just arrived, spa service that treats you like a star, and front desk staff that always seem to be quietly observant in order to anticipate your every need.
The location here is stunning. STUNNING! Perched right on a rocky shore, we listen to the waves each night from Room 312 (do make sure you get a room on the 3rd floor - better views up here). Eagles fly by with their catch dangling in their talons and surfers can be seen running into the waves to catch a set. Another perk that I appreciated -- you get whiffs of freshly baked bread permeating the salt air on occasion.
The spa is attentive without being overbearing. Do book a couple's massage if you can - you'll enjoy being in the Cedar Sanctuary with the sound of the waves at your footstep. And also be sure to check out the Rainforest Steamroom - it even has a window to the outdoors (not that you can see much through the steam, but it does add ambience).
The food is great in both buildings. This morning we had pastries in the cafe - we're talking chocolate croissants that would make the French jealous, along with other goodies. The Pointe Restaurant also is fantastic.
Perks you'll appreciate at the hotel: free bikes, a Philips Senseo coffee maker with local Caffe Umbria coffee pods (it's that new fangled coffee maker that looks like an espresso machine but actually just brews one cup at a time - seriously good), a two person tub with a picture window looking out to the ocean, a fireplace that lights with the flip of a switch, free wifi, beach access. Well, you get the picture. Everything you expect, want, and more. Yeah, it's remote (hey, we came all the way from SF!), but it's worth it. Stay in Room 312 and you can read the notes from all the others who've stayed here and loved it. Including me. -

There is no place more worthy of 5 stars than this.
I had always dreamed of Tofino, and The Wick (as the locals call it) with its spectactular beachfront property, our beautiful suite, and impeccably attentive staff turned my dreams into an unbelievable reality. Every detail has been carefully and tastefully thought out. You will not need to worry about a thing.
Luxurious and sexy, rugged and refined. Designed for great lovemaking. It should almost be guaranteed.
Pamper and treat yourself and your partner - you deserve it. Worth every Canadian penny!
(Also, be sure to try the House-Smoked Arctic Char with Lemon Cream Cheese on a Toasted Bagel for breakfast - we savoured every divine mouthful.) -

We've been lucky enough to travel all over the world and stay in some wonderful locations and some not so wonderful but this was amazing. We loved everything about it. From the gracious welcome when we arrived, to the beautiful room with the amazing view and the staff who are just excited to share their enthusiasm for the Wickaninnish Inn. We brought our two dogs with us (they are like family) and they were treated like the special guests they are.
Dinner was lovely and the spa was relaxing and thoughtful as it should be.
We will be returning again and again and again.
We LOVED it. -

Our stay at the Inn concluded a family vacation in British Columbia. We sent our (adult) children home and headed for two days alone at "The Wick." I know grown ups shouldn't jump on beds but oh this place...We were in the beach building which is the newer addition and I might recommend the main building but I had booked on line with Kayak and saved a bit so there wasn't a choice. Rooms are amazing comfortable spectacular views and great sitting, fireplace areas. The word romantic is not exciting enough. Long beach walks and bald-eagles catching their daily bread. They have a beach cook out in the summer on Wed. and Fridays that we did not not know of and were already booked at the Pointe restaurant. (amazing). We had a couples massage which takes place in a cedar cabin next to the ocean. The natural decor of the inn including a coffee bar made out of a driftwood tree trunk is noteworthy. I found it also impressive how stealthy the housekeeping crew was. No 7:00 a.m. bang on the door, "HOUSEKEEPING". No sir. No cleaning carts click-clacking down the hall. Not here. Mr. Clean ninjas armed only with a simple basket appear out of no where when you are least likely to be in the room.
This place is not for the faint of wallet ($500/night), but well worth it for a special treat. They have a storm watching season in the winter that has got me thinking... -

The place is first class all the way. We stayed in the chesterman beach suite overlooking chesterman beach. Great rooms with twice daily turn down service. The hotel offers a two hour free demo ride with a new 2010 Lexus. Applicable for each Canadian license. Also a huge bonus was the romance package. While your at dinner they light candles in your room sprinkle rose and orchard pedals up the stairs an over your bed and in your full hot bath. A tray of truffle chocolates top it off. Great way to end your evening with the misses . Five star down to the tee. The best part by far was the couples massage at the cedar spa . Done in a small cabin on the ocean front the doors open allow you to listen To the sounds of the crashing waves. Don't miss this incredible experience

No way in hell could you ever give this less than five stars! The view, good lord, THE VIEW from each room! RIght smack on the ocean, waves crashing almost into your room. All the bells and whistles one would expect from a place of this quality. On top of the view.... the service, the bar and the food all ROCK! I wanna live here.

This is the most amazing resort I have ever been to. First of all it's set in gorgeous Tofino and right on the water. How much better can that get. The staff are very courteous and the rooms were so cozy. There is a spa on site and also a wide variety of amenities. Depending on what time of year you come, you can surf, watch storms, whale watch, hike and more. Definitely worth the trip!

Review from Scout S.
Our room had panoramic views and was fully equipped with everything possible. The bed was the highest quality and was beyond comfortable. The shower was great with excellent water pressure and love the double tub with a view! It is right on the ocean and it is fabulous to hear the ocean lull you to sleep and feel the breeze. The beach is very private and full of interesting sea life such as star fish, great shells and crabs. The staff is so helpful and pleasant. The hotel is right off a bike path to town and their are cruisers on a first come first serve basis. We attended the crab cook out and it was fun and delicious. The Pointe Restaurant at the hotel is rather amazing and it was really cool when they called to see if we had any special meal requests! We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there many times...the duck confit benedict was crazy good as was the local caught halibut at dinner. We caught a coho salmon and the chef prepared it for us! This place is expensive but well worth it...I really didn't ever want to leave this paradise!
