Undoubtedly one of my favorite places in this area thus far.  Is it because of the beautiful scenery with bald eagles fling through a gorgeous blue sky?  Is it the rocky cliffs that you can climb while listening to the sound of waves crash against the cliff walls?  Is the view of people playing on the beach, in the water, on their boats or on the cliffs?  Is it the green fields where people enjoy their BBQs and laugh with their family and friends?  For me it was sitting on the cliff eating a slice of chocolate cake with the wind blowing through my hair and the love of my life sitting beside me.

    And as always, Have Fun!!!

Whytecliff Park is one of my very most favourite places in Vancouver. I absolutely love it here, I just find it so peaceful, especially sitting out on the rocks overlooking the little bay watching seals and scuba divers play in the water. I love it so much, in fact, that this is where my boyfriend*ahem*FIANCE proposed to me a few weeks ago. Perfect. :D

This is a great spot for picnics, lots of nice open grassy areas. There's not really any hiking, per se, but there are a lot of little trails winding through the rocks and trees and it's always fun to crawl around on the rocks figuring out your own path. The little beach is rocky, not sandy, so it's not great for lying around sunbathing unless you're up on the grass but I'm determined to go swimming here this summer, finally.

The park is located right at the end of Marine Drive in West Vancouver and that drive is one of the prettiest you'll find anywhere. It's great for scooters and motorcycles, all twisty with great views. Just beware, there are a lot of cyclists on the road, in the summer especially, and it's pretty narrow so you have to be really careful going around the corners.

Incredible location for SCUBA diving. Whytecliff rocks with a kick ass view, pristine COLD water, and loads of sea critters to marvel at.
I just wish I took my PADI course during the summer. DUH! October is flippin frigid.

I've never scuba-ed, but I like this park for regular swimming. and jumping off the cliff. and picnicking. and tennis.
It is always full on the weekends. Weekday in May was nice and empty, but I would guess summer-vacation time weekdays may be a bit fuller.

The small rock island as seen in Peter S.'s photo is connected to the mainland by a bunch of rocks, when the tide is out. Be careful if you walk over... when the tide comes back in, you'll have to swim. Or call your friend nearby who has a boat (we met some people in their 50's who were stranded, and that's what they did :P Good for them)!

We usually jump off that rock into the water. There are some different platforms of different heights that accommodate jumping!

We once saw a couple in their wedding dress and suit jumping off a cliff on the right of the beach. Their photographer was in the water. What a nice wedding story!

There are many picnic tables, and also a rentable covered area. And tennis courts. And a playground.

This is one of hidden gyms in West Vancouver. I say hidden because it's easy to get lost, if you are not familiar with the area or don't have a GPS, which isn't that big deal, it's not as if you are in a dense forest. It's a great picnic spot, with cover benches, and the children play area in it. There are tennis courts for the elders. The actual Whytecliff rock is just short walk and has breathtaking views. I haven't done that yet, but there are a not scuba diver here all the time. If you lucky you might be able to catch glimpse of seal pups on the rocks. If you are planning a picnic, remember is a popular and best spots might already be taken a good day, so arrive early.

One of my most favorite places in Vancouver. It's so beautiful and peaceful. There are grassy areas for picnics, rocky areas for climbing and exploring, and the little island (accessible by a rock path at low tide) is too cool for words. I could sit out on one of the many rocky ledges and gaze out at the ocean for hours.

Families with small children should be careful though, there are lots of steep, rocky spots where one slip could be disastrous. It's not a good park to let little ones run free around.

One of the easiest dive sights in the lower mainland, nice sloping shell sand bottom and a great wall on the point for advanced divers, and only advanced divers, the memorial in the anemone garden tells the storey of divers not prepared for the wall and the consequences so be warned. Dive Safe.
