What can I say about WF that hasn't been said already? It's amazing. I've always avoided the chain due to notoriously high prices and the fact that I live very close to a PCC, but I stumbled into the Roosevelt location by chance recently and it's Siren song was irresistible. They really do have the competition beat if you're a freaky Nearly Vegan (Negan) like myself. If you're a carnivore this location also has a breathtaking array of choices, not that I'm thinking of switching back but if I did this is where I'd go.
The selection and variety are undeniably the best I've ever seen, for every category I saw on my recent trip, with prices that are equal to my mainstay PCC (which aren't that cheap either, really). I don't often rely on frozen meals, but the freezer selection was so full of 100% Vegan choices, many that I never knew existed, that I actually emitted a whimper of astonishment, to the amusement of a nearby WF employee. Don't even get me started about the beer selection...
.
The hot meal bar is great too, I picked up a fresh tofu scramble and breakfast potatoes that were the equal of any I've had in town. There's even take out sandwich, pizza, coffee, and Mexican food stands that all looked great, so I'm going to be back to try those. And a Jamba Juice! You don't see many of those in Seattle (unlike California where they're as prevalent as Starbucks are here).
For most budgets, including mine, Whole Foods is a luxury but if you're feeling decadent and want the good stuff, this is where you'll find it. -

I love Whole Foods as must people have written. The food is fantastic and the staff are friendly. The food is pricey but for good reason. It's awesome and worth every penny. However, I gave this review only two stars for two bad experiences with "security". I stepped outside with my basket since it was summer and they had produce outside and were cooking barbecue. The moment I stepped out the man cooking gave me a bad attitude and demanded to see my receipt. I apologized, I didnt want to leave my basket inside in case staff thought it was abandoned. As I walked in he followed me to the customer service and rudely told me to leave it there and whispered to the Customer Service staff. As I continued to shop he followed and eye balled me which made me highly uncomfortable. Due to that I was not going to spend my money in there that day.
As many customers as Whole Foods has strangely enough my neighbor was also stopped by security when she had purchased nothing and was leaving and they pulled her aside to check her purse and pockets. WHICH contained nothing. Their reasoning? She kind of looked like a shop lifter they saw once. I felt this was an invasion of her privacy and embarrassing to be pulled aside when she did nothing.
I contacted Whole Foods to complain and they stated it was an outside loss prevention agency and they really couldn't do anything about it. I saw the rude security man again and he was all smiles since I was dressed better without my usual tattoos and piercings showing and didn't seem to care others were outside with their baskets.
I'm still hesitant when I go there, considering the feeling of being watched when I have spent approx. 1000.00 in merchandise over the past two years or so.
Besides THIS guy, the experience is great. But my money now is given to Metropolitan Market which is my smaller and replacement for this particular store. -

Unlike many others I don't think whole foods is that much more expensive than other places, but I tend to get a lot of my stuff from the bulk area which tends to be cheaper. I've compared shopping trips to Safeway, Fred Meyer, and QFC... still can't seem to figure out which is cheaper!
I really love whole foods but you know what I don't like...? The stuck up people that shop there! If you're in someone's way for more than a millisecond, expect an angry shopper to stand in front of you (no eye contact) and get really red-faced. I don't see people smile in this store except maybe a few cashiers that have helped me. Maybe I'm just too sensitive but hey if I'm going to give a store my money, I don't want other shoppers to make my experience unpleasant.
They need a sign that reads "Leave your nasty attitude at the door" when you enter.
But I still come here since I really like their selection and the fact that they have an awesome, super healthy (for the most part) hot food bar. I just try to come during times when I know it won't be super busy like 10am on a weekday or something. -

Awesome Whole Foods! The best part about this store is their Bakery, they have the most friendly and helpful team members....sometimes I'll ask bakery people for help finding products because they are, hands down, much more friendly than team members from other departments. As for the reviewer who said the employees walk around like zombies, you must have been mistaking supervisors for regular employees..... and be careful because, true, these supervisors will eat your brains in a feeble attempt to acquire the brains they are lacking.

Review from Jon L.
Having reviewed the other four locations in the area already, the Roosevelt Whole Foods I would say falls squarely in the middle in comparing them all.
The suburban locations in Bellevue and Redmond are larger and have sizable parking lots. I liked the Interbay one the least because it seemed small, but it did have a decent size parking lot. The Westlake location's main appeal is its location, but parking is an issue and it is comparatively small. It seems more of a place to hit up on weekdays.
While the Roosevelt location is comparatively small too, it is in a lively neighborhood and it does have a parking lot. Those two items does make this location very popular. It is crowded and lively. But I kind of like that, even though it can be challenging to manuever around the store.
The beer/wine and cheese areas seemed decent and I liked that one of the staff members asked if I needed any assistance while I was looking at cheeses. Usually at the other locations, this almost never happens.
Their deli section is a bit small, but they still have a refrigerated case, sushi and a hot food bar. The baked goods section is decent with an array of desserts. The selection here is typical of what I find at the Eastside locations.
Although it can be a bit busy, this is a good Whole Foods to visit due to its location and parking. If you live in the area, I don't think it is worth heading to the other locations, the Roosevelt one serves you fine.Listed in: The Grocery List

Very expensive - but you get what you pay for and what you get is super high-quality stuff. Worth it in my mind. Not everything is local or organic, but it is at least fresh and delicious.
Oh, and parking isn't much of a problem when park in the parking garage under the store. I think a lot of people don't know it is even there. -
Review from Lilani E.
Minus one start for parking. Parking makes me want to cry giant tears into my basket full of gluten-free pasta and bag of clementines.
One of the first things I realized when relocating to Seattle is that all road lead to a Whole Foods. This one is great - busy as ever but the lines move very fast. I love that Bartell's is right upstairs, making it an easy, one stop shop. -

I hate when people say its pricey!! well the organic stuff at safeway & Qfc are even more expensive. You are getting quality food not to mention organic!! Their bulk section is amazing!! They have everything from oats to basmati rice and even Bulgur which i find no where except in Mediterranean grocery stores. Quality food and yes i would rather pay for quality even if its more expensive!

Review from Susan W.
So I've been here 3 times now. 1st time hated it!!! 2nd time sort of accepted it. 3rd time started to like it.
I can't imagine ever doing all my grocery shopping here. They truly live up to their nickname "whole paycheck". While yes the quality & variety of items are good, they are not worth double what I would pay for them at Fred Meyer.
If you like shopping with yuppies who drive Volvo's in their Birkenstock with their private school kids in tow you will love WF. However if you are like the other 99% of us grocery shoppers who look at all the sales ads for every store & clip coupons you will not be comfortable shopping here. -

Whole Foods is solid.
When I need something organic, grown only in the warm and gracious sun and lovingly dug out of the ground and put onto individual downy pillows for transport (less than 100 miles away, of course) by smiling little happy gnomes, I head for Whole Foods.
I kid.
While admittedly the more on-the-edge granola types do tend to roam the aisles freely, the more average vanilla-type folks like me can be just as happy loading up on fresh, healthy fare at Whole Foods. The aisles are clean and large, well-lit and the staff is really helpful if you can't find something or just have a general question.
The folks at the meat department are great about offering to order something if they don't happen to have it stocked, as well. Great service! -

Whole foods is overpriced and the people are very stuck up! I've come to the conclusion that it is a plot by the owners of WFs to cater to organic eating, super healthy, educated people that will overspend to keep up their bodies because the employees of WFs are zombies and eat human brains and they need to ensure their customers (future food sources) will provide them with necessary nutrients.
That said, I go to WFs about once a month, when I'm in Seattle or Bellevue and usually check to see if any of my staple grocery items are on sale (and sometimes the prices are okay on those) and then I get some stuff from the hot food salad bar. I'm a huge fan of grocery stores which have hot foods. I've found the food is hit-or-miss at both Roosevelt and Bellevue. Sometimes the rice or chicken is yummy and moist and other times it's dried out and crusty, so this is very frustrating!
A new store is opening in Lynnwood. Will be interesting to see what kind of crowd ends up there! -
Review from Amber B.
It is important to mention that whole foods is pretty much my mecca. If you ever decide to go vegan, it is going to be important that you go here.
They have an amazing buffet that rotates between breakfast, dinner, and salad bar.
Everything I ever need to buy is here. You can't go wrong, it's ALL local and ALL organic. Everything is labeled so clearly I don't even have to read the back of the products - I know exactly what I'm getting. I think it's called truth in advertising.
Anyway, I love whole foods. And I'm pretty sure this is the biggest location. -

Long lines at checkout.
Great selection of stuff that I have not been able to find in another grocery store in Seattle.
Dolmas in the chef's case (yum).
When they start stocking morcilla, this place will have 5 stars.
Note: Skip the Maryland Crab Cakes - a little old tasting. -

I kind of love this store.
Unlike many Whole Foods, this incarnation blends in nicely with the neighborhood. True the parking lot is a cluster-f of maximum proportions. And its a bit cramped, but its got a great vibe. Its filled with college professors from UDub, and prissy hippies and various locals.
But somehow, its warm in here. Its pleasant and reassuring. A jalapeno bagel perhaps? Or mushroom and grain soup? Rainy days and the Roosevelt Whole Foods are just perfect.
Yeah
I kind of love this store. -
Review from Sameer K.
It's a whole foods. I like that they have all sorts of things besides food, and they have things you don't really find other places. They have a lot of good fruit, and gluten free options.
It's predictably clean and easy to navigate. Things are whole foods priced, but at least the necessities like milk and fruit are reasonably priced. -
Review from Karim V.
First off, I must say that Whole Foods has been my favorite market for a loooooong time. I LOVE this place and the joke about "whole paycheck" is lame...don't shop there if you don't like the prices!
Sooo, this location rules. The employees are always helpful and it is easy to find items. The produce, meats, baked goods, and cheeses are always fresh and ready for use. The thing that stands out is the demeanor of the employees; you can tell that many of them truly enjoy working there and it makes for a more pleasant shopping experience.
And if you like cream cheese, the whipped cream cheese by Whole Foods is AWESOME. Just sayin. =) -

With mama and papa in town, we made a quick stop at Whole Foods so that they could purchase the cereal they like which is actually CHEAPER at WF. I wasn't aware that anything could be less expensive at a Whole Foods as compared to a Safeway or QFC, but I was wrong. Anyways, this location has everything any other WF would have and is clean and full of friendly people. I wish I could afford to shop here more...
**Good sized parking lot and plenty of street parking in the area. -
Review from Deanna J.
I can't come to Whole Foods and fill a cart, as much as I would like to! But I will come here to get my special vegetarian foods and to buy a few items I can't find anywhere else.
Parking in the garage was easy, which is always a relief!
Big store with a great selection, especially for desserts, wine, beer, cheese, and veg food. I also noticed some things I haven't seen at other local Whole Foods.
You get can items on sale, which is always a nice surprise in justifying spending $52 on a bag and a half of groceries.
If you're in a food rut and need to get inspired for meals, Whole Foods is sure to give you some creative ideas. Just go through your cart before you check out and put a few items back-save you $10. -

I am a curmudgeon when it comes to Whole Foods. Being from Texas, I remember when it wasn't a trendy destination for people, instead a place to buy healthful things and tasty treats. Hippies and alternative folk like myself worked there and shopped there, it was different is all.
Yeah, yeah... I know. You can still get those things but how times have changed. It's gotten a little more corporate and a LOT more expensive. It seems like that people want you to know that they shop there or Trader Joe's. Anyway, enough of my kvetching...
Produce is lovely though they should really get more local stuff than they do. Bakery is massive as is the prepared food section. Back in Houston, the WFM near us made its own bread goods and their Texas-sized Ciabatta was a glorious thing to take to a party.
There's a Jamba Juice inside and a coffee bar. Parking in the garage is free and they have a lot that can be a pain to maneuver when they are busy. Just park in the garage, there's a lift to the store itself and stairs, if you prefer. -
Review from Anton Z.
Whole Foods makes me incredibly happy. We normally shop elsewhere for cheaper prices, but in the end we always end up at WF for the specialty foods we love. Location is just the right distance from home and between other neighborhoods we go to.
A few highlights - meat/seafood collection is fantastic and fresh, bulk section is great with fresh peanut butter, tasty baked goods, and a great cheese selection (and they'll help out if you need something specific). -

I love myself some whole foods market.
The food is always fresh, and the service is amazing. The staff will open just about anything and let you try it. If you don't want to buy the whole bunch of celery, they will break it apart and sell you what you want. They make their own sausages that are delicious. The granola is SO good here too. I really cannot emphasize enough, this store is filled with wonderful food and products. I only wish I could afford to buy everything I need here. Its a tad on the expensive side.
The main thing that makes this location special to me is the Jamba Juice. Thats a super bonus! -

Checked out with a sandwich and the cashier asked if I had a stamp card. Whaaat?! Stamp card for sandwiches? Upon seeing my disappointment since I regularly get them she gave me 3 extra punches. Awesome customer service!! Wish I remembered her name :( Also great service from Joel(beer guy) for ordering a specific beer my husband enjoys, it arrived within a couple days.
They also have stamp cards for: coffee(includes drip!), cookies, breakfast burritos and pastries. Seriously? LOVE it.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Whole Paycheck? Ya... it's true. But where else can you be assured that you are not buying genetically engineered produce or cloned meats? With the new labeling laws (gmo's and clones no longer require labeling), it just feels good to know your food wasn't grown in a petri dish.
There are a lot of other reasons to support your local WF, such as how this particular store has thrown over $350, 000 back into the local community. They've partnered with FareStart (great program for those in need), they offer educational health classes, cooking classes and wine tastings. The people who work at this store are very informed on the products they sell, and you can get quite an education by chatting them up.
For wine, cheese and bread- definitely Trader Joes. If you haven't been there yet, you will either cry or laugh deliriously as you gaze upon their ridiculously low prices.
But for when you want to put your money where your heart is, WF is a great way to go.
Plus, free treats for the kiddos! Great for bribes, and significantly cuts down on crying time.Listed in: The Locavore, Dining At Home

I heart whole foods. Anywhere, Seattle, Bellevue, DT.
Always high quality fruits and meats. Their food bar has some tasty food, especially the butter chicken and the make your own sandwich stand. Good selection of wine and cheeses. Wines range from cheap ($9) to expensive. Tons of organic and gluten free products.
Service is always great too. The employees always seem to like their jobs. Plus, if you have questions about a wine, cheese, or product, there'll be someone that can answer your question for you. And there's a Jamba juice and wells fargo inside.
Try the blueberry sour cream tart in the bakery section. It was SOOOOOO good.
Love whole foods. Don't love paying so much to actually buy the food, so I come here once in a while to treat myself! -
Review from Angela B.
I give it 5 stars for the food, and 1 star for the price, which averages out to 3 stars!
Seriously, if the food wasn't so expensive, I would shop here more often. They have really good prepared foods, produce, pizza by the slice, bakery items and more. They have tons of organic and gluten free products! But since it's so pricey, I'm choosing to shop at Trader Joes instead, although they don't have nearly as much selection.
anyways, this is a huge store, with an eating area, a classroom (they offer numerious free classes on food/cooking stuff. I've been to one, and got tons of free samples), and a parking lot across the street as well as a parking garage below the store. -

I don't actually do my grocery shopping here, because its too expensive and pretentious for my liking. I guess I am a bad person and care more about price than organic. So Sue me!
My boyfriend are here almost every other weekend though for some of their hot prepared food. Back in CA I use to go to Whole Foods to catch up over breakfast with my grandma and aunt, so I have fond memories of their breakfast. So When I moved here, I had to get me some more whole foods breakfast. While it is not as good as the one in Fresno, CA(the breakfast burritos aren't very good) and they don't have a few items that I also like.
But what they do have is quite good. I love the biscuits and gravy. the bacon may be some of the best I have ever had. When ever I am craving some bacon, we head over here. They also have good bagels from local bagel shops, including blazing bagels. My new favorite thing is the bagel pizzas, which is half a bagel, eggs, and some other toppings. There are usually 3-4 different kinds to choose from. My favorite is the egg, bacon and cheese. Very yummy! Also, very inexpensive, for the most part. A lot of items are charged per pound(about $8 a lb I think), but if you are only getting a little food, like me, its quite good. I Like this option because most breakfast places give you too much food.
Plus, there is a jamba juice inside!Listed in: Cheap Eats, Breakfast

No one knows this but the Whole Foods buffet is the best restaurant in the entire city of Seattle! You go in there, load up on a shitton of intensely satisfying gourmet deli food and then get the fuck out! So easy, you don't have to tip anyone or wait around for service. Plus you can sit in the seating area and scope out all the crazy yuppies and commentate on their out there fashion sense. Or, if you time your trip correctly, you can sit there and throw shit at the pervy chomo's who come during Roosevelt's HS lunch hour! Fun!
Btw, for those of you ranting about how the staff are "uninterested in customer service" have you ever worked in that field? Because it's horrible. You were probably the jerk first. Say thank you and smile and whoever is helping you will remember your kind face for the rest of the day because it is THAT RARE. -

We like this Whole Foods, and have been eating here more recently than the downtown store.
This one seems to have a more relaxed feel and the salad bar also seems to have more choices that we like. A greater selection of nuts, tahini, etc. It's interesting how different Whole Foods approach their customers.
Like it! -

Ode to Whole Foods
Oh my, this place, so spacious and clean
where I've never encountered an employee who's mean;
where the aisles are wide, and the offerings many,
where freshness prevails, and things cost way more than a penny;
it's true, I'm afraid, when they jokingly say,
"wholepaycheck, more like it", and most walk away;
but sometimes you've got to just treat yourself right
so come stop on in here, and pick up a bite;
a salad, a soup, a hot tasty meal
organic, or vegan, there's often a deal
food so pretty, a picture you'd take
a bakery section offering cake??
so even though I'm not quite elite (hear that YELP??)
Whole Foods Market is still super sweet!!!! -

I'm like a morbidly obese child in a candy store when I go to Whole Foods.
Same price range as Safeway but infinitely better. Whole Foods is not as expensive as everyone thinks and it's still well worth the quality. Plus everyone is super nice! And they have the best salad ever, Field Greens & Spiced Nuts. It's logic-defying how many leaves they can fit in one of those packages. -

Parking is easy, cashiers are very friendly, and the produce is very good, as expected. The employees working in seafood are usually very friendly.. though during one visit I had an employee behind the seafood counter argue with me about the size of a serving of salmon...I asked for "two servings, about 1/2 lb" and he kept insisting that 8oz. was one serving and I should be getting a lb!
Aside from that, the isles can get pretty packed and keep an eye on your produce/bulk items as they scan. I once had about a lb of white mushrooms scan in as organic bulk coffee and was charged $14! I saw this after I got into my car, of course, but customer service was very pleasant and adjusted it no problem. They said that happens frequently with the mushrooms and some other bulk items, so beware.
Yes, Whole Foods can be pricey, but that all depends on what you buy. I actually get better deals on some packaged foods here than other grocery stores. I usually come for the produce and tasty soups and olive bar! -

We all know what Whole Foods is, I don't feel any need to review the store.
BUT, I would like to note that I got drip coffee today at their cafe and it was nice. Not Zoka, Vivace, Stumptown nice, but often enough you get coffee at some random place, because you're in a hurry and want caffeine so you can maintain that, and you get some really garbagey tar drink that's hard to choke down. This isn't that. I wouldn't mind getting it again.
I would also like to note that I got an espresso drink a year ago, and haven't had one since. -

Economists are predicting that the price of bread, eggs and just about everything are going to rise rapidly in the very near future.
To make those prices seem like less of a blow to your wallet, shop here and only here for one month.
Hahaha! Just kidding, of course. Doing that would cause most middle-class average Americans to go near-bankrupt!

I don't find myself in Whole Foods very often. It's not in my neighborhood or in my price range. Recently, however, I ended up signing up for a cooking class offered through Whole Foods with some coworkers.
Cooking and I, well, we just don't mix. Mac & cheese, grilled cheese and frozen meals are in heavy rotation around my house. I only wish I were exaggerating. Pathetic, I know. Seeing as how I've lived off this menu through college, it's starting to get old and boring a few years later (actually, it was old and boring in college, too). I mean, you can only enjoy tater tots so many times, before you're ready for a little something more. That something more presented itself to me through a $40, 3 hour class, which promised to teach the art of preparing at least six soups and several breads and crackers.
The class was held tonight. And, I survived! I was pretty nervous when the class began. The chef was talking about stocks this and stocks that. She mentioned vegetables (at least I think they are vegetables) that I've never even heard of. So, as a novice, I was worried what I had signed myself up for. And the recipes, oh the recipes. They all sounded delicious, but they also all sounded difficult. I forced myself to be up to the challenge. And before I knew it, I was actually enjoying myself. There were 12 of us packed into the small cooking room, but the chef managed to pay attention to all of us. Also, Chef Shannon had a great sense of humor, which is probably essential, but also made things fun.
I left the class with a dozen or so recipes and the desire to actually try them at home. I think the class is definitely worth the money and I hope to make it back to give this cooking thing another go. -

I don't give a lot of things 5 stars. In fact, I give very very few things 5 stars, but when I do, you get a long review. Sorry. This grocery store rates a 5 with me because they cover my basic needs as a customer, and then consistently go above and beyond what I expect.
Freshest food possible (all fish is Sashimi grade-1) and tasty to boot. The prepared foods are good I've heard but I don't really go that route. I have bought lunch there though- $8.99 meal deal that is filling and yummy (Pot roast, carrots, mashed potatoes, cauliflower au gratin mmm). Quality products aren't cheap-if you want cheap go to Food4Less and get discounted stale crackers man.
Their 365 Brand is darn cheap too, comparable to Trader Joe's generic brand but natural and just as good as the expensive stuff. Their specialty area is just that-special. Prices are a bit high but it's for the rare and unique items anyway, not normal fare.
The staff is incredibly knowledgable and genuinely nice. Whenever I have a question about a product they answer it, and I don't mean "is this good" "yes it is" type stuff. I mean, I've asked them where something is made and I received an entire rundown from where the wheat was grown to how the bread was baked and then transported type answer.
I actually know quite a bit about this company-the profits do not go to Texas but to the employees & community. My friend works at Whole and I happen to know that nobody (not even the lowest of the low) gets paid less than $10/hr and everybody gets gainsharing & benefits. Really really good benefits. They consistently donate 5% of their profits to the community in which they reside and donate time and energy to cleaning up the environment at a city level.
So stick that in your hippy pipe and smoke it. -

I'd ride my bike here if I had one, but parking is a sinch. You can park in the building or across the street in the private parking lot.
I came here the other day to pick up some snacks for our job's weekly meeting. I don't get why the hell we need snacks while we discuss our patients, but I guess it makes it more bearable.
I love this store, but I hate how it drains my wallet.
I didn't realize we had an unspoken competition of whom bought the best snacks every week, and apparently I fucken rocked it with my mad snack choosing skills.
A bag of some vegetable chips, Hawaiian onion chips, organic corn chips, baby carrots, rainier cherries, raspberry/strawberry mix and a six pack of unsweeten mandarin/kiwi pop for 34 bucks!
I rocked the snacks and Whole Foods rocked my wallet dry. Not cheap, but I will be coming back on a full stomach.
This is a well stocked store. I took a stroll while I chose my snacks, and the produce section (my favorite) looks exceptional as expected. I recommend not buying organic; overpriced for something you can't be truly certain it's 100% organic. Run-off? Yeah, that's what I mean.
