My cousin wanted to take myself and another cousin to brunch - so we originally wanted to eat at Cactus Club Cafe. But, they didn't offer brunch around 11 a.m. so we settled for White Spot.

I had the berry patch waffle (strawberry) with a side of fruit and it was great! I was hoping for REAL maple syrup, but to my disappointment they only had the standard pancake syrup that we get for dirt cheap here in the States.

Nevertheless, the service and food were fantastic! I definitely have experienced a Canadian tradition which I only imagined on my last trip to Vancouver =)

    Only a frogger game away...

The office I work for is still mourning the loss of New Age, walking by like sad, little stalkers, checking to see if anything new pops up. Nada. So instead we are opting to running across Kingsway like frogs in the game of frogger to get a quick burger. After getting our heart rate up, it seems only fair to reward myself with a burger.

Like I've said before... I do this to myself... I stuff myself full of food because they just dish out so much. The burger is a quarter of the platter with the fries occupying half and a ice cream scoop of coleslaw on the other quarter. It's too much. If anything has to be sacrificed and left behind, it will be the fries. If I don't mind using the far crosswalk, then they will all get eaten with a healthy side of gravy.

The burgers have the softest buns... the meat is usually the flattest piece of meat ever, but it's jammed with so many toppings, it's okay. I usually get Chuck's Favourite Burger... blue brie with portobello mushrooms. Wow. Everything getting all gushy with every bite! The last time I was here though, I showed a little bit of restraint and ordered just a legendary... because it came with a milkshake. Ahahaa... restraint. Their hand dipped milkshakes are a little thin, but I love that the vanilla had actual vanilla bean seeds in it... otherwise something went horribly wrong and I just thought they were.

Eat the coleslaw. I always feel bad for it... usually the only thing left on the plate by others... I like it...

Every server I get there is wonderful. Always friendly, always quick... especially the Al Pacino look-a-like.

    Decent option when I'm hungry

I wouldn't call a White Spot a dining destination, but sometimes I'm just hungry and looking for decent food, relatively inexpensive (notice I didn't say inexpensive) and close. White Spot fits the bill. They have a good variety. I've found their food is always good, and generally the service is OK. This location is on Kingsway in the Metrotown area, and regularly becomes a go to restaurant when we don't want to cook, and want something familiar.

By the way, White Spot is something of a tradition on the West Coast. Uniquely British Columbia.

Now why would I review White Spot of all places? They are all pretty much the same and they serve your typical western meals and sometimes minor forays into foreign cuisine.

Well, the reason why I am reviewing White Spot and this restaurant location in particular, is because it holds some sentimental value.  I can't even count how many times me and my family have visited this particular location for a variety of reasons. Usually to celebrate a birthday or holiday, or if our family hasn't seen each other in a while and no one has any particular restaurant  they want to try, this is our go to place! It's fairly inexpensive, has a good ambiance and that old school diner feel to it. It must be all the baby boomers that frequent this place that gives it its character, and I like it!  The servers are friendly and efficient and attentive, all qualities which make an eating out experience phenomenal.

Going to this particular restaurant has become somewhat of a tradition that is being passed down to newer generations in our family. Ask my niece what her favorite restaurant is, hands down she will say White Spot, and I'm pretty sure she is referring to this particular location!

White Spot is trapped in the land of who cares/no real effort here! It is obvious on the face of their servers and in the presentation of their food.

We received several gift cards, key word several for XMAS gifts this year, don't know if they had a two for 1 special or not, kidding!! But, I guess a lousy meal at White Spot versus not cooking for the night when you get home at 9.30 pm since 10 in the morning doesn't look that bad after all.

Went to this location after work last week for take out and figured on keeping it simple 2 legendary platters to go. Food was really blah, no taste, sloppy look to it. Gone are the days when the Legendary Burger with special sauce was something to look forward to.

White Spot is sliding down a slippery hill with no way of treading ground or ever climbing back up as far as I am concerned. Did I get food to take home, yes. Was it good, no. Did it have flavour or any effort to at least look good, no.

1 gift card down, several more to go. Yikes! Re-gift.

Well, all White Spot or White Spot Triple O's are great for the best decent-priced burgers in town (Tuesdays at some Triple O's offer a $3.33 Legendary Burger). Sure, you can say Vera's is better but they are vastly overpriced as after it's just minced hamburger meat. folks.

Love their shakes and the fries leave the skin on. Really, it's all you can ask of a fast food place.

Having said that I stick with the burgers despite their upgraded menu as I've not been super impressed with their Italian dishes although teh Thai ones they have at times are quite good.
