i read the last review, and i had second thoughts about eating here. the only reason we wanted to come here was it was close to our hotel and we felt like having brunch.
unfortunately, they took off the brunch menu and the flatbread special (which i wanted to order) because their delivery was delayed. we were seated anyways and we ordered other items from the menu. we waited for 20 minutes for our food to arrive.
my son complained his burger was cold...not a great start. the rest of the food was not bad. service was suspect. it wasn't very busy, but the server was not around enough, even to see if we needed more coffee or water. my 2-star rating is what they deserve..... -

White Spot is a BC institution. A family favorite with a casual atmosphere and consistently decent food. Best known for the house burger and Triple O sauce. Not upscale by any means but an affordable place to eat if you want to take your grandparents out for dinner.
The White Spot at Whistler bears no resemblance. Staff at any Whistler restaurant are transient and food quality and service can suffer as a result but not if the restaurant is well managed. One would think that after 100 years in business one could not possibly screw up the simple food and service at White Spot.
Our last, and I mean last, meal here was truly awful. The service was terrible from hostess, to waiter to manager. The burgers were burned and indelible. I ordered "short ribs" and swear to god received two pieces of beef jerky covered in gravy with about a pound of mashed potatoes. Our complaints to the manager were a waste of time. She apologized but offered no replacements or refunds. At the end she gave us a coupon for a free appetizer for our next visit. I am surprised White Spot is still in Whistler. Hopefully a company like Cactus Club will take this space over someday as it is getting harder and harder to find affordable family restaurants in Whistler. -

White Spot is generally a reliable place to get some decent comfort food. There seemed to be something awry at the Whistler location as it was a restaurant with hungry people and no staff. Took 15 minutes for a host/hostess to arrive.
Guests seemed to be self managing the staff-free entrance, all wondering if someone would show up, take a name, provided a seat.
Finally, when someone did show up and seat us, we were presented with a dirty table in a half empty restaurant. Had enough and left the restaurant. On the way, a customer with two children warned waiting guests at the door that food was very slow to make it to the table. -

THIS PLACE POISONED ME!!!! I ordered a breakfast sandwich at 9am on February 26, 2011... an hour later I was seriously queasy. 30 hours later and I am still recovering from full-on food poisoning. Way to ruin my vacation and my weekend. If you want to spend the whole day puking your guts out, scraping along the floor, and all night in a restless, muscle-cramping sleep, this is the place. Manager, check your food/kitchen. Inspectors, check this place. I've been here once before but will never go again. Disgusting!!

Great value priced meals for the whole family!
Whistler White Spot delivers on a great casual meal at an affordable price.
They have a central village location that makes for an easy walk, if you are driving they have their own parking right in front. This is a huge deal if you are travelling with a group of kids and don't want to hike the whole troupe through a 15 minute village walk from the day lots.
The prices are probably the most affordable in the entire village and they offer excellent quality, portions and taste.
My favorites are the Dippin Chicken and Burgers. Great milkshakes and cesar salads as well.
The other reviewers may have had their expectations out of line for what White Spot caters to... it is not your typical Whistler Michelin Star restaurant, nor does it carry a fixe price menu starting at $100/head. Hell, you can feed you entire family here for $100 and leave happy!
The GM Melissa Talaro also deserves a commendation. I ordered take out one night and the sauces for my dippin chicken got messed up - she promptly fixed the issue and did so in a way that I just had to write this review and will keep the Whistler White Spot on my list of casual fav's along with Opa and Splitz Grill. -

I understand why they call White Spot the Dennys of BC. The food is predictable (and somewhat better than what I recall from eating at Dennys some 15 years back), but I must say that tonight's experience is the type that will turn me off from this chain for good.
Now, the White Spot just opened up in Whistler a few weeks ago and one would think that a) they'd be very keen on making good first impressions and b) they'd be all ready to impress the world during the Olympics.
Apparently they were content to wear their dour faces and show us quite possibly the worst Whistler has to offer.
We will get one thing out of the way: the food was okay. The burgers were decent and the fries were actually rather good.
But the problem was getting the food in the first place. From the time we arrived, nothing in the service department was any good. The hostess apparently suffers from some facial defect as she was unable to smile. That's never a good first impression walking into the restaurant. We had about a ten minute wait before our table was ready. This is where it just got worse. The waitress took 3-5 minutes to come by and quickly took our order and the one from the table next to us, who got sat about the same time. Off she skedaddled into the kitchen. Eventually, another waitress brought our drinks (the very complicated diet coke and glass of water). She was actually nice. The folks next to us got their dinner fairly promptly, although their drinks from the bar arrived at the same time as their dinner. Meanwhile, we waited. And waited. I am guessing, as Hungry Stomach Time moves much more slowly than Frantic Waitress Time, that we waited about 20 minutes longer for our food. The waitress was nowhere to be seen. Check that. She was seen at other tables, just not at ours. Perhaps we had developed leprosy since she seemed intent on avoiding us. After checking, no...we were stigmatizing disease free. My wife finally got fed up and went to the hostess stand to find the manager. The nice other server was going to go look, but finally our food arrived.
Our original waitress eventually came and gave a half-hearted apology. She admitted she had forgotten to put our order in right away and then the cooks messed up my wife's order, so it had to be remade. Then the waitress informed us it wasn't really that big of a deal because hey, it was just seven minutes. So really, it was our fault for being hungry and having the nerve to come to that restaurant to have a meal to take care of that problem. She offered a free dessert, which is always the cheap way out of a sticky situation.
We declined and asked for a discount on the bill. We got a dinky 15% off for our trouble but no apology after that.
The manager never could be bothered to come talk to us.
Needless to say, that was an awful first impression for a restaurant that just opened up. I can't picture a situation that'll have me darken their doorstep again. That was some First Class Rotten Service, delivered with a shrug and a grimace.
