Review from Brendan M.
North Vancouver, BC
While the other reviewer is probably well within his rights to dish out a horrendous review for the Chop House based on that unacceptable screw-up, I had a slightly different experience recently. Two buddies and I wondered over to catch the third period of the hockey game. We only had to walk 2 minutes and we opted to settle into to cozy lounge upstairs.
After an afternoon of hot tubbing and a few cocktails, we were pseudo-lobotomized at our fire-side table. After ordering a round of beers, we opted for a few items from the menu. A few French Onion Soups which my cohorts devoured like feral cats and we shared the fish and chips with house made slaw and fries and also the prime rib pizza. We were making our own Filet Mignon the following night so none of us opted for a steak. I have had a "trio of beef" there once before and I was quite disappointed with the cut, flavor, texture and presentation of the dish. So, maybe don't get your hopes up for the steak.
The fish and chips were extremely good and the slaw was out of this world. I hogged it all and gobbled it back unapologetically.
Although I wouldn't rank the prime rub pizza too high on appearance and there was not an abundance of beef on it, it was actually very delicious and the three of us inhaled it in under 3 minutes. Now, perhaps we were slightly more ravenous than we thought and may have had a minor case of the munchies, but I can safely say that the Chop House might need some stronger management and learn how to deal with groups a lot better, but it ain't all bad. There are some decent items coming out of that kitchen. -

** Rookie Management lack of planning and accountability..Complete Shame!!
Chop House nothing more then a fancy Pub that is owned by B list sports stars, that lend their name to attract customers.
Our group of 20 decided to go to Chop House because our buddy knows one of Chop House's owners. Mitch Berger personally made the reservation weeks in advance and we thought we were in good hands.
The Whistler Chophouse has no clue about customer service and should be called "The Whistler Pub House" instead. They would rather serve booze then quality food.
* They had no food!!
-no prime rib
-no pork chop
-no NY steak
Its a complete joke they are in business. All they wanted to sell us is alcohol. The manager didn't have the guts to tell us they were out of menu items after taking our orders. The staff just kept stalling us telling us of food was on the way!! Finally a phone call from Mitch Berger explaining the manger was shy to inform our group they were sold out of many entree items. (It was only 6pm and they just opened)
Most of us got up and left after waiting 90 minutes with no food to the table. Chophouse never compensated us for wasting our time. We took taxis from the Upper Village to and from this Hole.
For large Groups better off going to Earls or Keg in the Village!!
