Whistler Bungee, British Columbia's highest and most pristine year round bungee jumping site, located 15 min south of world renowned Whistler Village Resort, off HWY 99.
Experience bungee jumping in the beautiful wilderness of the Whistler Resort Valley nestled between old growth forests and rugged basalt column cliffs
Feel the exhilaration of jumping from a 160 foot ( 53 metre ) bridge spanning 300 feet over the glacial fed Cheakamus River.
Whistler Bungee has an unblemished safety record and it's jump masters and operators have over 17 years experience.
I had the pleasure of jumping at Whistler Bungee during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. I took advantage of a special offer for Security Officials - $70 total. If I recall correctly, it was 50% off.
My bungee jump with Whistler Bungee was my first jump. Despite the heavy discount, it was an astounding and exhilarating experience. The staff at Whistler Bungee provided superlative client service. They were friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. They play a big part in each person's jump being a memorable experience. Their enthusiasm and encouragement was definitely contagious with all the jumpers.
Consider jumping with Whistler Bungee. You will be very hard pressed to find a more beautiful location, with superior customer service.Listed in: Whistler stomping grounds

On a sunny afternoon, my buddy and I decided to drive up to Whistler. He's from out of town so I thought, hey, why not take him to the 2010 Olympic venue, maybe we can grab some ice cream while we're there.
Oh, ice cream, we did not have.
Before I knew it, I was signing on the dotted line and walking across the fated bridge. I am actually afraid of heights, so I was literally grabbing onto the rail as I walked across. They strapped me in, I tried to turn back, the girl who was working nudged me off the ledge.. so finally I had no other choice but to jump. It wasn't as high as I expected and I've actually had more intense adrenaline rush before. The scary part is mostly just waiting for your turn to jump and seeing everyone freak out. All the workers are super calm and friendly, eating oranges and hugging each other. It was quite a contradicting sight. All in all, It's good fun and very safe, if you ever wanted to bungee jump in BC, this is probably the place to go.
I never did get my ice cream but as a consolation prize, I walked away with a video footage of me swan diving off a bridge. I guess I can accept that. -

The first bungee jumping experience should be one to last in the memories of a lifetime, and Whistler Bungee definitely made that come true. I'm from Southern California visiting Canada over summer break with my family and this was something that was top of my to-do-list.
The staff was very very friendly and made me feel comfortable with doing something way out of the ordinary. They joked around when it was time to joke around and at the same time, were very serious and specific when it gave to giving instructions and rules. Whistler Bungee has a all time safety record, so going into it, I wasn't very nervous. However, it was still nice that I was comfortable standing at the edge of the platform waiting to jump off knowing that there was a group of experienced staff who knew exactly what to do.
The only downside was the price ($180/person), but in the end, it was well worth it! -

TITLE: Johnson Excellent Bungee Adventure: How I Received a Jane Austen Novel.
I did a couple of jumps a few years ago with Whistler Bungee - I enjoyed it and recommended to my buddy who wanted to tick off a few items from his bucket list. So happened, I also accompanied to film his jump.
The booking office is in Whistler village, but the jump site is 3 km off the Sea to Sky. As Dave G. noted, the dirt road is quite treacherous with monstrous potholes - unless you have a worthy truck, I would recommend driving the extra distance from Vancouver into Whistler so they can shuttle you to the site. If you decide to lump in some offroading with your bungee jump, there's a small parking lot on-site once you've managed to pilot down the one lane road servicing both incoming and outgoing traffic.
Once on site, it's a quick hike to the bridge and you'll be signing your life away with various waivers in no time. They also set up some viewing areas off the bridge - so it's great for spectators. They used to have the 'traditional' bungee harnesses (bound by your feet) - but looks like it's now all the center harnesses which free up your arms and legs, so you can flail your limbs like a ragdoll as you scream like a little bitch.
Here's a few pointers for first time jumpers:
- bring someone to video your jump - if not, they will sell you some pretty well-done still photos for about $40. Or grab a spectator you can trust with your camera - there's usually plenty of people around
- think about whether you want to jump forward (i.e. forward dive) or backwards (I recommend doing a 'Jesus' fall). I've done both, and counter-intuitively, it's much scarier and exhilarating to jump backwards (the staff agrees with me) - you feel like your stomach will burst through your chest. Even though I'm pretty sure I'm the only person that heard it when I Jesus-jumped, I'm pretty sure my sphincter slammed shut with a mechanical clanging sound. And the best part, the photos as you fall backwards will clearly show your face in base abject terror.
- it's about ~$120 for your first jump and you become a 'lifetime' member and a souvenir t-shirt is included- all following jumps are about ~$80 - so it's cheaper if you jump both ways.
- I would strongly recommend yelling out a line before or as you jump. My buddy had a line in mind, but with the anxiety and the staff doing a hard countdown (I suppose to prevent people from freezing), he completely forgot and just went silently when they yelled, "GO!".
I took my cue from Geronimo and Leroy Jenkins. If the harness failed on my jump, my famous last words would have been, "Alright chums, let's do this: JOOOOOHHNSOOOON CHAAAAAN!" That would have been a pretty boss death. I ultimately chose that line since I figured it would have been much easier to explain to my mom at my closed-casket funeral rather than "Hey girls - look at me!"
Anyways - highly recommended and it's cheaper and more fun and visceral than skydiving. The staff is hilarious and very professional. My buddy noted how confidence-inspiring it was they were using duct tape to repair some non-mission-critical equipment and the staffer decided to add duct tape to his harness, "just in case".
As my buddy was settling up the bill and picking up the photo CD, we had to ask why they had Jane Austen and a book on the study of the female anatomy on the office desk. They explained someone left the books here a few months ago and forgot to pick it up - and they asked if we would like to take it.
So, in addition to the souvenir shirt and photos/videos of his jump - my buddy got "Jane Austen - The Complete Novels". Nothing commemorates a bungee experience better than 18th century English gentry romance novels. -

Beautiful location... amazing experience. My fiance and I both jumped last January on a vacation to Whistler. It was exhilarating. Staff was all wonderful and we got some great photos.

My friend and I were determined to bungee jump. We had had a lot of friends jump, and we wanted to be part of the cool kids club. We never found time in the winter (although they are open 7 days a week year round) so we went on the last day of my visit in July. I had sprained my ankle two days before while snowboarding, but I was bound a determined to go.
The jump site is about 10k away from Whistler Village. They have a contract with a local taxi service to bring people from the village at no fee to the participants (although tipping the driver is appreciated). My friend, a couple random other jumpers and I jumped into a yellow taxi and away we went.
The bridge wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be. Still bigger than any bridge I had ever jumped off of, but still, relatively small. I was a tower diver for a lot of my life so heights don't really get to me. That was, until I was standing at the ledge looking down into the rushing water and realized I was about to die.
"1....2....3...Jump." I stood there frozen. The guy helping me looked at me again. "You can do this. Ready? 1....2....3...JUMP." Still no go. Finally I scream "LET ME DO IT WHEN I'M READY." "1....you can do this.....2.....you used to do running jumps off of 10 meters and you were fine....3.....GO!" I jumped off, but instead of just jumping I did a double back flip. I had asked if it was OK to do that before hand and they said it was as long as I was in the chest harness. As I couldn't do the ankle harness because of the sprain, I was game. I think the back flips actually made it less scary. I'm used to jumping off heights flipping so this was just another day in the office. That was, until all of a sudden I felt the pull of the rope and was pulled out of my tuck. For the next minute I just hung there as I was slowly lifted to the platform.
My friend went next and we were both high on adrenaline. So much so, we forked over more money we didn't have and did it again.
If you've never bungeed before, I would definitely recommend this place. It was fun, safe and...did I mention fun?Listed in: Active Whistler
