Great for when you want drinks and feel comfortable in your casual clothes.

Pints are so cheap here! I recommend coming here on a nice sunny day and enjoy the patio.

I came by here during a rainy Westfest night to meet up with some friends for a drink and a meal.  Whispers is pretty easy to find and it has a lot of room in the place.

My friend gave me the back story on Whispers and told me it was one of the original pubs in Westboro which is pretty cool!

The pub wasn't packed but did have a good amount of people in it.

Anyways I ordered a burger and we sat around having a few drinks.  One of the things I did notice is that our service kind of sucked.  It wasn't great but it took forever for the waitress to get around to get us some more drinks.  This might not have been the waitresses fault as they might have been understaffed but seeing as it was a "Westfest" you figure they would have been staffed properly.

My burger was ok.  It's pretty much what you would expect from a pub.  I'm not sure if I'll be back anytime soon but if I'm in the area I might give it another try.

As close as you're probably going to get to "Cheers", the notorious Boston bar, in Ottawa.

There always seem to be a lot of locals and Whispers has a lot of character.  The bar area is cozy and offers you a view of couple of TVs including the trivia TV -- my favourite!

Located in trendy Westboro this restaurant pub is very laid back.

I'm a big fan of two items on their menu -- just their simple nachos and also their fajitas.  They actually have a fajita night on Saturday which I've never checked out but I can recommend it based on the fajita I had on one Sunday I was there.

The bartender Julia can make pretty much any drink and when trivia started to take a downward spiral one evening on the weekend she even recommended a good shot!

The upstairs is now open when they have live music which expands the place a bit but you'll still find you might have to wait for a table if the patio isn't in use as it is a popular hang out.

For non smokers who want to enjoy the patio I'd suggest the one at the front of the restaurant on Richmond instead of the one on the side as the smoke can linger on the side patio.

Easily the best place in Westboro to watch a sporting event, especially a Sens or UFC event.

Whispers is a great place to sit back after a long day of work.  It must be the place that a lot of people use for this, since when I went on a weeknight to meet up with a friend, it was hard to find a table!

It is one of the few more relaxed restaurants/pubs in the area, so the prices are decent.  The atmosphere is very pub like and a bit loud, though there was a game going on the night that we were there, so that could have been part of the reason.  They are definitely prepared for the sports crowd, with more than one large screen for viewing.  The selection of draft beer is good and it included more than one of my favorites.  We got some appetizers to munch on, as well as a few drinks and spent a few hours catching up with each other.  The service was good and there was no pressure for us to hurry, even though there were people waiting, so that was really nice.

Surrounding Whispers is a lot of establishments that many people see as snobby. It's a nice change of pace from the surrounding neighbourhood that can be a touch stuffy.

The place is big, with two sides on the inside and two patios outside. You'll generally find a seat without too much of a wait. The inside looks like your average bar/pub and a bathroom that is small but sufficient.

The bar is pretty big and the beers offered range from Stella to domestic brands, all at an average price. The same goes for the food, average with an average price. Don't come here for a gourmet meal, but if you're looking for a quick drink and some munchies, by all means stop by. An added perk is the interactive trivia they have. You can play against people form across North America, and if you do well you will win the ultimate prize: bragging rights.

The downside to Whispers is the heat. In the summer and even toward the fall, it can be extremely hot and stuffy inside. My advice to everyone is take a left when you walk in. It tends to be cooler on that side, which may make the difference.

If you're in the area, stop by and see what you think.

A great pub atmosphere, friendly service, and good wings and tacos await you at Whispers.  A pillar of the community sports, Whispers sponsors lots of kids' sports.  This fact alone makes it a fun place to hang out as its service is friendly and relaxed.  Decent selection of draft.
