Their Tomato Basil soup was amazing. I came here to catch a bite in between meetings in the area and I will be back for sure.

My boyfriend and I went here for lunch today and ordered the apple bacon-chicken BLT sandwich, the tomato basil soup and fries. The sandwich tasted okay, but I thought there was too much mayo and not enough lettuce. I am a huge fan of bacon, but I have to say there was a little too much of it. A perfect BLT to me is having the right amount of each component.
The tomato soup was inedible. We both tried it four or five times, and really wanted to like it, but could not eat any more. It tasted very acidic and was like a punch in the throat.
The fries tasted like fast-food fries, and were over-salted. -

A lovely lunch spot with a friendly staff and nice ambience. We had the brisket sandwich which was very moist and flavorful and served on a soft, warm, yummy roll. The individual brisket pieces were very small which made for a bit of a mess. We also had the chicken BLT which was well prepared and quite delicious.
Our only suggestion would be to completely fill the little cole slaw cups. It can't cost more than a few cents to do and it would look less stingy. -

Great lunch place in magnolia. I don't come here very often, because I don't live near, but whenever I can, I do. Sometimes there isn't any parking on that block, but there usually is somewhere close. The food is always good, especially the bread pudding.

My husband and I eat here on average about once a week and is one of our favorite restaurants in Magnolia.
Why it gets 4 stars.
Star earned for classic American food. Their menu is small and simple. Mostly soups, sandwiches and salads. Sometimes you just want a straight forward satisfying meal and that is what Wheeler Street gives you.
Star earned for quality. Everything we have ever eaten here has been simply perfect. Not too heavy. Especially when you have things like chili, toasted cheese sandwiches, french fries and hamburgers on the menu, it is easy for them to become a bit heavy and greasy. But not there food. Perfectly seasoned, fresh ingredients prepared well every time. Also love the seasonal, limited time options.
Star earned for taste. Everything we have had so far has been simply delicious.
Arugula w/lemon vin. : Delicious!
Chili with beef and black beans: Spicy (in a tasty way, not man this is so spicy I can't taste anything else) and delicious.
Tomato basil soup: Thick (but still soup like) and rich with fresh tomato and basil flavor. YUMMY!!!
Roasted Corn Soup: Addictive. My husband and I fought over it.
Wheelter Street Burger: Ah perfection! Simply divine. Oven roasted tomatoes??? My husband hates tomatoes on his sandwiches and burgers normally but he lives this. The flavor is just amazing. Fries are excellent as well.
Grilled Cheese Sandwich: Crispy, crunchy, toasty, cheesy, slightly sharp and really yummy. The use of Yukon gold potato bread adds a whole other dimension of flavor to this classic sandwich.
Slow Cooked Beef Brisket: My recent favorite. The beef is flavorful and tender. The amount of raw onions are just right. Enough for flavor but doesn't over power the meat. The horseradish sauce is creamy, rich and seductive.
Even their coleslaw (I hate coleslaw) is decent and their homemade tarter sauce is excellent.
Star earned for for friendly staff, quick made to order service and reasonable prices for the quality of the food. Love these guys. Also love the cook books I can browse through while I wait for my order.
I want to give them the full five starts but can't. The only reason I can't are their hours. 11am -7pm??? Not open Mondays???
Come on guys!
Well I am sure you have your reasons. Oh well we are still fans! Love you guys!!!!!! -

Great food and great spot. I would have given the place 5 stars if it wasn't for the gum chewing from the cashier.

Kind, friendly service everytime. My husband and I love this little spot, and the owners are simply wonderful. She is super patient when we bring our hyper two year old in, and is the type of person, that on a quiet day will chat with you about anything. We just adore her!
Now let's talk about their food. MY GOODNESS, simply wonderful. I strongly recomend the burger, which just melts in your mouth! It is so so good. The brisket sandwhich is another one of our favorites. The brisket is tender, and flavor is to die for. We've had some of the soups before, and they do hit the spot on a nice cold day.
We are lucky we happen to live close, because this is always a good spot to bring guests to. Also their decor is lovely. Love the food, love the people, and love having the pleasure of being regulars. -

Amazing. Just Amazing.
I tend to only review places that I really liked. And I REALLY loved this place. The boyfriend and I took a trip up to Seattle and were going around to different parks. This place was near one of the parks we went to. It's kind of located in this alley way so it's really easy to miss if you're driving on that main street.
The woman who helped us at the counter was patient and sweet, not rushing us at all. I settled on beef brisket sandwich with coleslaw whereas my boyfriend got the fish and chips. My sandwich was SO GOOD. The beef was tender and slightly spicy, and just the right size. And honestly, the fish and chips were delicious as well.
This place is a little gem and you're lucky if you live here because you guys get to have this place more than me. -

Found this place while driving to the garden center next door.
very cool place with very nice people. They gave my puppy a huge au jus flavored sno-cone so he could cool off while he was tethered outside.
They also gave me a free steak sammy that another customer decided he didn't want.
Had the chili and mac'n' cheese. Both amazing.
Thanks Michael! We will be back soon. -

Perhaps it is too soon to write a review, I've only been there once. But first impressions are important and Wheeler Street makes a pretty good one. I can't think of anything negative to say about the place. Friendly service, good food - perhaps the only caveat is limited hours - will probably never make it there with my hubbie but it's a good go to for a quick lunch with my tots. Fresh and tasty. And word to the free cookie for checking in there - it was delish.

Ive only had the cheeseburger. This was the 2nd best burger Ive had in Seattle (El Gaucho was my fave); it was simply marvelous. Fries were also delicious and perfectly crispy.
Staff is also extremely helpful and friendly. I will definitely be back. -

Great little family-owned spot. I had the chipotle smoked pork shoulder sandwich (special) which was fantastic. Looking forward to trying more of the menu.
I honestly wish this place was on the main drag (McGraw) so that more people could find it. That said, it's probably only a matter of time before the food quality means a wait for a lunch table. -

Wheeler has everything I like in a lunch cafe. Great food, prices, atmosphere and people. The staff is always friendly and the menu has food for all of our family.
My 2 year old loves the hot dogs and the fries, and they have one of the best burgers in Seattle. It's simple, but everything is fresh and delicious. -

Can't say enough good things about Greg and Carrie's place! I haven't had anything that wasn't yummy enough that I would want to have it a second (or third) time.
While I'm at it, props for working hard to create and maintain a super friendly true old neighborhood feel. (unlike that nasty gross Rudy's place)! -

Just an additional THANK YOU to fhe great folks at Wheeler St. Kitchen...a truly NEIGHBORHOOD restaurant! When our building was on fire this weekend in Magnolia...they not only came down to check on us...but brought us back to their restaurant (while we were in tears) for some free soup and wine to kill the pain. Thanks - you guys are the best!

GOOD FOOD FAST!!
A limited but good menu with choices to serve most any taste . Have found the portions tend to be smaller than what I would expect from the prices but are satisfying . I would suggest to the owners to kick -up the portion sizes a tad. -

Went here on a cold day and ordered a French Dip Sandwich. When I got the sandwich (which was very tiny) there was no au jus. I asked and they told me that they weren't selling enough of it to make it worth while to make. Paid like 8 bucks for a sandwich that was small enough to fit into the palm of my hand.
Went back a few months later thinking maybe they weren't quite up to speed yet as they had just opened. Was dissapointed again and will never be back. Drive a little farther and go to the Melt Cafe if you are looking for a sandwich. -

Friendly, casual atmosphere. Great family owner eatery. Even better comfort foods, including very good soups. Local artist's work on walls. Highly recommend.

This is the first time I have ever written a review. Food was excellent and service was even better. They were extremely sweet to my kids and family and even offered them (charge free) delicious chocolate chip cookies. It made their day and you just don't see that these days. I highly recommend this local treasure.

The one place you can eat in Magnolia and be sure your getting something tasty and made with fresh ingredients. The menu is simple; just good salads, soups and sandwiches. This is a quaint, fresh, clean little place with good food and good service. If you have taste buds, care about what you're eating and what you're paying, you'll understand what I'm saying...To me, it's really better than most places in the area, by a lot. Several people were coming and going while we were there so the word is getting out!

3 stars for portion size, price and the front door across from garbage cans, but some folks like that out -of-the way feel. 4 1/2 stars for the food - I had the pork shoulder- yummy..... but there are so many other awesome sandwiches to crave in N. Seattle such as Paseo's, Melt Cafe, Kiss Cafe and Fremont Grinders. Love a good sandwich! Good Luck!

Very very very good simple quality food. I had the burger and it was like nothing I had tasted before, in a very very very good way. For the quality of food and excellent service I think the seating area could be more intimate or interesting. However, this isn't substantial enough to reduce the score to 4 stars. Great service and EXCELLENT food. Isn't that as good as it gets?!
