    The small town pub can go one of two ways. It can be solid with good food and drink specials, some classic features like pool table or darts staying true to the pubstyle in terms of decor...a bit kitsch but cozy and comfortable. Or it can simply not give a rats arse. People will come cause there is no where else to go. We were pleased that the Wheatsheaf was the former.
    We stepped into a halloween themed decked out pub with great beer specials, a yummy french onion soup and free pool on mondays!! Given it was thanksgiving monday there weren't too many people but maybe that was a normal thing. We got our suspicious looks being a group of 10 but were welcomed and accomodated.

    So if all ferries to Van from Nanaimo are full and you need to kill a few hours grab that iPhone and find your way to the Wheatsheaf. You won't regret it.
