I was scheduled to move from my apartment in Ottawa to a new place in Nova Scotia, and this company was suggested to me by my relocation company, partially because of its competitive rate.
These guys were supposed to show up the day before my move-out day, early in the morning. The plan was that they would come in and pack everything the day before, then return for anhour on moving day to load the boxes into the truck and haul it away. On "packing day" I sat around anxiously waiting for them to show up- nothing. So I kept trying to call their office to ask about the delay, but could not get an answer. Eventually it was evening hour, Westmount's head office was closed for the night, and still no one had showed to pack my stuff. (I considered doing it, but by that hour there was no place open to get packing supplies). I spent the last night in my apartment worrying that I would not be able to move out in time (had to be out by 5 the next day so that the new tenants could move in). Very stressful, which wasn't good considering I had to drive halfway across the country in a couple days...
I called first thing the next morning, and they said that they were unable to come again! They had to go on a wild goose chase to find another company to move my belongings. VERY incompetent. -

I thought I was doing them a favour by packing up equipment in it's original boxes (which I save because I move regularly). Beware, if you put something in a box, Westmount won't cover it under their insurance policy.
In my case, a simple move from Ottawa to Toronto, they destroyed a computer display and a printer (both of which were in their manufacturers boxes and had previously crossed the Atlantic twice without incident).
They also destroyed (I mean completely smithereens) a bookshelf, and many of the boxes were severely damaged. Obviously some kind of crash occured.
The insurance only covered the bookshelf, and I lost over $1000 replacing the computer equipment.
Would never use this company again. Completely unprofessional. -

I did two moves with Westmount a few weeks apart. While the first move went very well in all respects, I was very disappointed by the second.
In both cases the actual moving crew was professional and did a good job. They took care with the items being moved as well as the walls and flooring, and everything was well protected with pads, runners and so on.
The problem was with dispatch and their communications about arrival time. The move was originally promised to start between 8 and 9am. I was called the evening before to expect the truck by 11am instead. By 11:45 there was still no truck, so I called and was told it would be there within the hour. By 1:30 there was still no truck and no phone call to update me. I called and was told the truck would be there by 2:30 which is when it finally arrived.
