Review from Stephan W.

I have now done 3 sessions of hot yoga and I am love love loving it. I held off for years because I didn't have any friends practising, but now that my cousin is into it, I finally gave'r a try. Outstanding. Hot Yoga is like crossing an infrared sauna with stretches you've never thought of. Topped off with a pretty effective calming effect.
I've been going to the 8 am class and it was still dark when I started going in December. The room is lit low. Very mellow.
Michael is the absolute best I could have imagined in a Yoga instructor. The dude is the epitome of mellow and gives great instructions. His class has a sweet soundtrack too.
If you are on the fence about trying yoga, consider this your OK! Go to West Coast in White Rock, it's totally low key and pretty welcoming! -

You really have to be able to handle the heat to handle these classes. I've tried it twice now. The first time I almost fainted because my body was overheating, but the second time was a bit better.
Personally I'm not a fan of hot yoga, because, while it has its benefits, I find that in that extreme heat, you tend to overstretch your muscles and then are sore for more than a few days after. This could lead to serious injuries!!
In terms of this White Rock studio, it is gorgeous, and very condusive to yoga. The instructors are great, and really encourage you to listen to your body and work at your own pace. -

A few friends of mind started going to the downtown studio this past summer. I resisted since I thought hot Yoga is really stinky and miserable. The winter came and I found out I didn't like running in the cold and rain. I decided to give hot yoga a try. Now I am going 3 times a week. The studio really reminds of being in Thailand - smell of heat and incense.
The studio accommodates approx 30 students per class. I find the weekends are a bit packed, 20 or more people usually. The really early morning classes are the best, only 6 to 7 people. I am always surprised at how many men are in these classes. I have attended many classes which half are men.
I signed up for the automatic payment plan which my credit card is charged automatically every month. Unlimited classes for approximately $90 per month and you get a 5% discount if you are a student. It is the most economical option especially if you plan to go more than twice a week.
Btw, downtown studio just started offering classes in Japanese.
