Family run and very friendly with a good menu selection, fresh food and (a good sign, I think) clean washrooms. Easily accessible from the Lansdowne Canada Line station with good free parking.
The pho is reasonably priced (the small size is almost enough but the large is still manageable).
Be sure to try the young coconut drink. -

Should be closer to a 4, quite clean and booth seating, yay!
Good size portions, just the pho soup was alright. But cool that you can create your own pho. Tendon, beef balls, and tripe.
Iced coffee was good, a bit more condensed milk than normal.
lots of parking here but then again, this is Richmond.
Great that they take both credit/debit. -

I used to come here a lot back in the day. Still a great joint with a huge menu. this is my usual order whenever i'm here....
Rice rolls with Chinese Ham- Deeeelishious
Lemongrass Chicken and pork chop on rice or noodles- perfect hangover entree
Pho- ANY!- secondary Hangover Entree
Ice lemon Tea- yes please!

One of the better Vietnamese restaurant in Richmond area. The decor might transport you to kitschy 1980s HK movie, but nevertheless it is decently clean.
The service is typical Chinese establishment: less words and efficient.
The pho is pretty decent with more "creative" options but I usually stick with the basic beef flank and tendon. You have to ask for the Asian basil leaves and cilantro (especially for to go).
The fried dishes tend to be too greasy, which is unfortunate because it makes them taste much less flavorful.
Visa and cash only please. -

You probably would never notice West Lake if you hadn't been told specifically about the well hidden Vietnamese resto. Even with the knowledge though, you will most definitely have more troubles finding parking when you arrive. Situated in the midst of an open air plaza with a poorly designed one-way ridden parking lot, high traffic is part of the price you'll be paying for dinner.
The glossy, book of a menu features appetizers, salads featuring meats and exotic fruits, pho, bun (rice noodles), rices, as well as hearty family style mains. Despite there being a "vegetarian" section, many of the options here come with meat/seafood or at least their sauces. The fried tofu, rather than being crunchy on the outside, is served age dashi-like, extremely soft in the centre and delicately coated in crumbs. The spicy stir fried noodles, which is very much like a pad thai, is fully flavourful and extremely generously portioned. Baked oysters in garlic sauce come attached to their own half shells. A fruit shake is a thick and creamy must to wash (or push, rather) everything down with.
The space is surprisingly large and consistently filled with mostly Chinoise families. The seating options range from spacious booths to large round tables for parties of 8 or even more cozily. There are many places in and around the city to get better pho, but if you've got a big group in tow, West Lake is a cheap and cheerful place to try a bit of everything family style . That is, as long as you take the Canada line or at least car pool to avoid the initial frustration of parking. -

Not bad - portions are smaller then expected but good noodles and it is the traditional viet spring rolls... they have set meals - great price!

Opened and currently run by Chinese people, West Lake Vietnamese Cuisine isn't the place to go when in search for an authentic Vietnamese meal. Despite the extensive menu, there were little to no options for vegetarians, unless you include the mushrooms drenched in garlic butter an option--a true Vietnamese delicacy, no doubt.
Most of the menu centres around meat and seafood but from appearances, all the dishes ordered lacked the freshness that distinguishes Vietnamese cuisine from Chinese. Everything was pan fried, deep-fried or stir-fried. Even the pho was comprised primarily of oil. Absent were all the fresh herbs, such as kaffir leaves, lemongrass and basil, that lend a lightness to their dishes. The accompanying dipping sauces also lacked variety. The only thing that looked tempting was the soft-shelled crab. Covered in the batter, that dish seemed to the be only redeeming dish in the eyes of my brother, who also has very discerning tastes.
