I wish I could do 2 1/2 stars, only because they don't have Mac and Cheese. The chicken fried steak is solid and makes for a great lunch on any day, but the fact that I have to get double mashed potatoes every time is garbage. The gravy is great and the other food is fine too, but there is nothing special until I can put the extra brown gravy on my mac and cheese and I make a point to ask them for it twice a week. Maybe someday they will get the hint.

I wanted to like this place, I really did, but lets be honest - its a very crappy diner.
The service was poor. The staff was weird. The food was poorly made. The orange juice I had was past its prime. This might be ok for a 3am visit, but not for breakfast and brunch. The price is high for the quality. -
Review from Sonia T.
The ONLY thing going for this place is that it is open 24 hours. That is IT.
We decided to grab a quick bite one Saturday, when the weather was absolutely GORGEOUS! We sat outside, on the patio, which looks like it may come crumbling down at any given moment.
The service was pretty good, and friendly, but we were offered some sort of cabbage and hash dish (St. patty's) and were given a taste, being that I nor my s.o had never had it. IT WAS HORRIBLE! It tasted like spam that had been laying our for 7 years. Now, in all fairness, I am not sure if that dish is supposed to taste like wet socks or not, but if so, stellar job!
My b/.f ordered the cheeseburger, which looked like it has been nuked in the micro for 3 minutes, and the fries were cold. I got the shrimp Caesar, and all I kept thinking was for sure someone was going to jump out with a camera for Restaurant Impossible. It was THAT bad. The shrimp looked scary, and vein-y and I think they were meant to be fried. The salad was a sopping mess, with wilted greens, and a bucket of house Caesar dressing. I couldn't eat it, and I was scared to do so.
Honestly, I don't know if the chef was on vacation, and his 5 year old was cooking, but this was one of the worst meals I have had. Being that they have a good looking menu, full bar, and killer location, I hope they get it together! -

So alright it was when the bars were closing for the night--aThursday night at that. Our server was excellent, the food was exactly as always for the old stand-by. HOWEVER, she was the only one, poor thing, in a restaurant full of people. My husbands entree came out cold an hour after we ordered, then mine came out well after he finished (probably another 15 to 20 min.). Aside from one tiny lady with a water pitcher making sure every glass was filled there was only the one server. We blamed it on a management issue not the server.

Blehhhhh. one star over the minimum because service was friendly and prompt. Walked here for breakfast, and what was I thinking? This place is more expensive than D*nny's, but with just as, if not worse, food.
The chicken fried steak should've either been of the higher quality buttermilk battered variety or the frozen Luby's style. I dunno what was going on with mine, but it was expensive. $11 for this? Eggs were undercooked and over-runny (like, the white was liquid, nothing wrong with a runny yolk). -

Back in the day, the West Gray Cafe was one of the few breakfast choices in this part of Montrose. There are quite a few options around now, but not much has changed at the Gray. You can still get a basic, no frills breakfast. You really can't mess up breakfast, and even though West Gray isn't great, they don't screw anything up.
Prices are probably a little high for what you get, but the neighborhood, she's a changin'. There isn't much atmosphere here, and the service can be painfully slow. But they have an extensive menu with all the breakfast usual suspects--eggs your way, omelets, pancakes, breakfast tacos, grits, hashbrowns, breakfast meats.
There's a main dining room and a smaller sunroom inside and there is outside seating as well. The parking lot is small so it's best to park on the street instead of having to back out once you realize the lot is full.
The Gray is the sort of place that you don't have to worry about showering or even changing clothes from the night before. Especially if you get there before the crowd starts rolling in around 9.30. -
Review from David S.
All the ladies I work with rave about this place's lunches of the day, but they added that ordering off the menu was just "ok". Hmmmm. First off, rarely in my life have I had a happy experience with "open 24 hours" (shades of the Waffle House of college infamy), but it was dinner-time and Sunday, so I threw caution to the wind.
The place is an old house, like so many Montrose restaurants. It's kinda homey and quirky, which I like. It was me and one other guy, which seemed a bit sparse, but I forged ahead. The lone waitress was friendly and efficient, but the menu is a rather strange mix of Greek dishes and American classic comfort food. I finally settled on the Chicken Parmesan.
Oh where to begin? It was every bland, insipid, uninspired school lunch I ever ate, all come back to haunt me. Limp, boiled-to-death spaghetti. A tv dinner, breaded chicken patty (albeit a largish one), and "straight from the can" tomato sauce. No, not flavored spaghetti sauce. Unseasoned tomato sauce. Over it all was a melted white substance that seemed vaguely cheese-like, but tasted of nothing at all. Also a bit of decent garlic bread - sadly, the best bit of the meal. My serving was definitely large and if there's anything more attractive than bad food, it's plenty of it. /-( The food isn't out and out disgusting, but it's sure not good either. The poor waitress looked so apologetic when she came to check on me. She obviously frequently sees the look I had on my face.
Do yourself and your stomach a favor. Go find some decent food. Montrose is full of very good restaurants, but West Gray Cafe sure isn't one of them. Not even if it's 3am. -
Review from Joseph L.
Aside from the $2 domestics during Happy Hour... there's really not a whole lot more you can benefit from by going to West Gray Cafe.
Granted, it is open 24 hours and it is cheap. But I laugh at how well it's juxtaposed with all of the bars on West Gray, as the type of meals you get at this cafe are like cheap hangover food. Go here at 3am on a Sat/Sun and you'll see a bunch of drunk preps who've just stumbled out of PJ's and Cecil's.
And yeah, the waitresses are nice and check up on you, and there is a TV tuned to SportsCenter or Fox News, but the food is beyond bland.
The chicken sandwich, for instance, is a store-bought frozen patty with nasty lettuce on a cheap white bun. The fries are ghetto (and I've never described fries as ghetto before in my life) and stale. Even the coffee - good God, the coffee - is terrible.
I think the reason why you always see people here is because the clientele is a bunch of tipsy bar-hoppers who don't have any taste buds at the moment.
Now, the large, covered patio is a great place to sit and relax... with your $2 beer during Happy Hour. But might I recommend - eat *before* coming here.
Free parking in the lot, and on West Gray *during certain hours*. -

A couple of friends and I wanted to go somewhere for coffee and to do some work one night. This was the only 24-hour place that was around so we decided to hit it up. I think it was a weekday around 10 or 11 PM.
The coffee sucked butt, and the place seemed sooooo dirty. It was dirty, dirty. I can't even emphasize how gross it felt. I've been to my fair share of diners, having lived in NJ, and this diner was mcnasty. I'm talking like, "I didn't want to put my elbows on the table because it was sticky and grimy," dirty.
Not gonna go back. -

Review from Arnel S.
Houston has a dearth of great 24-hour diners, and West Gray Cafe does nothing to ameliorate this problem.
My friend and I arrived here on a Thursday night at around 10pm. The place wasn't packed, which always makes me hopeful that we'll get more attention from the waitstaff. After being told that we could sit anywhere, we chose to sit outside. Big mistake.
We waited an excruciatingly long amount of time before our waitress came outside to take our orders. After our food arrived--just about the only thing there that was timely, it seemed as if our waitress forgot we were there. I guess I could understand that if it were super busy or if my friend and I were the only ones sitting outside, but it wasn't busy, and there were two other tables of people outside. No refills on water and no refills of coffee--I had to walk inside and wait for the waitress to come out of the kitchen to ask for more coffee. And that was after my friend and I had waited a long time after finishing our food and about the same time we really just wanted the check to go.
I ordered the pancakes. Out of all the breakfast foods in the entire world, pancakes hold a special place in my heart. And it broke my heart to experience such terrible pancakes. They left a bad, indescribable aftertaste in my mouth after each bite. Needless to say, I couldn't finish the plate.
After an experience like this (and similar ones at other 24-hour diners in Houston), I'm almost tempted to drive to Austin after a night out (they've got awesome 24-hour places). Yet I keep hoping I'll find a terrific place one night/morning. The only thing I've found is my bed and sleep. Sweet, sweet sleep. -
Review from Farrah A.
It had been more than two years since I first went to West Gray Cafe, and after my last time there (and believe me when I say "last time"), I remembered why I avoided the place.
The location, homey atmosphere and service are all great ... and they serve grapefruit juice, hence the two stars, but the grub is one big FAIL!
Calamari tastes like store-bought Gordan's Fisherman frozen food, breakfast tacos are something you can make at home, and this past time I came, the hollandaise actually scared me. It looked like Grey Poupon. I'm not one to judge food by looks, so I tried it ... and it was awful.
I don't know how trusting a restaurant can be that serves an interesting mix of burgers, dumplings, pot roast, spaghetti ... I'm guessing breakfast is their nack since the morning crowd is pretty busy, but I'd steer clear of the hollandaise. -

Miss Farrah and I needed some grub to hold us over until and throughout our evening event. After calling a few places that had just closed, Farrah decided on this place, mentioning that she really hadn't been here in quite awhile.
Well.... She remembered why. The food was passable, but nothing special. I had a breakfast taco with bacon - sort of like a b'fast burrito. It filled me up and didn't' taste bad, but it didn't particularly have much great taste to it either.
Our server was great - very sweet and attentive, and I enjoyed being able to sit outside. If I lived a few blocks away, maybe I would stop back now and then to figure out a dish I really loved. However, as visitor, there was nothing that really grabbed me and made me want to come back or tell someone to go out of their way to stop in.Listed in: Texas Travelin', Houston Spots...

This place is guh-ross (gross). I made the mistake of taking a big group here after a baseball game and it was really embarassing.
I'm all for independently-owned, slightly off-beat places with lots of soul, but West Gray makes me want Denny's, IHOP, I don't care - just as long as they use disinfectant. This restaurant smelled when I went there, I'm not sure I could ever identify it, being that I am not homeless and I bathe regularly, but it smelled like a dumpster.
It is open late, woo hoo, and the food was pretty forgettable but not bad.
I give them two stars for being open late (I'm sure if I were bombed I wouldn't notice how gross it is) and also for the awesome waitress who scolded and picked on my brother-in-law throughout our meal: "Theez one is trouble, no?" She had that stoic disdain, I didn't argue with her. -

I actually want to give this place 2.5 stars, but because they were so nice about us hanging out for three hours, I'm willing to bump them up.
They have their own parking lot which is a pretty big deal in this area since I hate parking on the street. We walked right in and seated ourselves to the spacious porch. There was also plenty of seating on the inside for those muggy months.
Our server was incredibly nice and added tidbits here and there into our book club which was fun. He brought our ordered food promptly and was around enough so that we could order what we wanted and get refills when we needed.
The reason for the lack of stars is due to the awful food. We ended up with a sampler platter where the feta cheese was the best thing. I'm not sure how the pita ended up so mediocre, but I was incredibly unimpressed. The spinach dishes were bland, the meatballs were boring, and the lasagna was just inedible. Our calamari was incredibly overcooked and chewy with the marinara seemingly straight out of some frozen container. The owners are Greek, but there was plenty on here that didn't seem to fit the genre of food. Plus, there was no hummus which is what I was looking forward to the most.
Sure, the place is open 24 hours, but I'm not sure that's enough reason to come back anytime soon. They don't have wi-fi, but since students aren't always the best client or tippers, I can understand that. Seeing as how we were there for three hours and saw a total of 12 or so customers, I'm curious as to how it could hurt the business. Perhaps they're better off in the evenings, but I couldn't imagine that the awful food would keep people coming back regularly except for the 24 hour service. All in all, I feel like I'm being very generous with my rating and don't plan to go back anytime soon. -

One of those place that you should park and make a u-turn cross the street to Barnaby's, because they probably serve better food. However, this place does has its perks (i.e. 24 hour restaurant, decent selection of breakfast and lunch items and a nice patio area).
We decided to stop by because we were feeling like having a "breakfast for lunch" kinda day. We place our order, mine being the typical American breakfast (eggs, bacon and hash browns) and my boyfriend ordered the corn beef hash. Now this place isn't the cleanest of establishments, and I wouldn't be surprise if it never won the Blue Plate Award for Cleanliness, but the food presentation was half ass aka sloppy! The food was so-so, probably on par with the run of the mill Denney's or IHOP.
Oh well, chalk one up to experience, because I will not be experiencing West Gray Cafe anytime soon. -
Review from David N.
Decent 24 hr joint. About the same type of food as Denny's but a bit better.
I had the country fried steak with poached eggs, a bisquit, and hashbrowns. The breading and the meat of the chicken fried steak was pretty good the only bad part was the gravy. It was quite bland.
My friend had the corned beef hash. It was overburnt.
Service was good and prices were decent. I would probably not come back since there are so many other better options in the area.Listed in: Houston: Late Night Eats, Best Breakfast

It's hard to resist the temptation to go back to West Gray Cafe. It's convenient, cheap enough, and sometimes you're driving by at 3am and need pancakes AND french fries.
However much I'd prefer to support the independent business, though, service and food are both better at Denny's, 59 Diner, El Rey or other late night options.
Despite the quaint neighborhood, dining here feels like you're at a highway truckstop. Nothing is bad, simply mediocre, but without the exorbitantly cheap prices to make up for it that you find at so many Mexican places.
In short, I can't recommend it, but I also cannot warn you against it. Like the unloved cat that serves to keep mice away, it's simply there, because sometimes its needed. -

All I can say is that it is a great greasy spoon in Montrose that's an alternative to House of Pies or Bibas for late nights.
It's owned by Greeks and located on what I call, Greek Row. It's next door to Byzantio and Bibas which are also Greek owned (can you say mafia)?
It is pretty dated inside but it's open 24 hours and a great variety of food. They have classic breakfast items all day, burgers, liver and onions, Greek food, and a touch of Tex-Mex as well.
It can get a bit busy at times but there is rarely a wait even after 1am on a weekend.
I have been there many a night for hours drinking coffee, laughing with friends, playing chess, or studying back in the day. No one cares if you stay 5 minutes or 5 hours honestly.
If it gets crazy, don't expect great service for there's usually only one server for this big restaurant.
Always yummy food and damn good generic coffee! -
Review from Gilberto V.
Houston, TX
Average place, average food, and a recently installed new hardwood floor and matching chairs and tables are part of the game at the West Gray Cafe. Do not go beyond the breakfast menu, in all seriousness, because things like their spaghetti and the burgers are far below average.
In short, it is just as is - average. Eggs, average. Pancakes, average. Bacon, average. Sausage, average. Saving graces are grits and iced tea. That really does not say very much, sadly, but it is what it is. If you are looking for a quick fix of breakfast goodness, not really looking for Barnaby's or One's A Meal quality and certainly not concerned with anything but speed, this is the place to go.
The latest issue, which docked it one star, is the absence of a waffle. Yes, you read that right. A cafe without a waffle. I am not sure at what point a cafe decides that waffles have no place, but as soon as I sat down this Sunday I noted that the menu no longer had the one thing I looked forward to here - the waffle deuces. One waffle, Two Eggs, Two Sausage Patties, Two Bacon. Sadly, in its place was the standard Breakfast Deuces - no, not a throw-down gang hand symbol, but rather the sad red-headed stepchild of the Waffle Deuce replaced with a silly boring pancake.
They do have a nice selection of hot teas, but no hot tea will save the lack of a waffle. It turns out the old waffle iron broke (yes, I asked) and the owner felt no need to replace it. What twisted logic is that? Honestly, a cafe with no waffles? That's like a topless dancer without glitter paint. That's like a Whole Foods vegetable selection priced below Fiesta. Horrid.
At one point in the past, this place would have warranted four stars. But now, it has slid down to two. What next, they get rid of the griddle? Watch out West Gray Cafe, your status is slipping off faster than a Memorial Heights Senior High Prom Dress in May. -
Review from Jack H.
One of the main things the West Gray Cafe has going for it is its 24 hour service. Once One's a Meal moved out down the street, I'm sure this place saw an influx of late night breakfast customers, and when Bibas moves back in, they may see a proportional decline.
The West Gray Cafe does have a quite varied menu, but as far as I can tell, it's all pretty mediocre. The chicken tender baskets and burgers you can get elsewhere, but again, if you want them at 4 in the morning, then you'll probably be here. Breakfast seems to be a brighter spot though, and that's primarily why I'd patronize them in the future. Get your fried eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes all right here, and often on the same order.
Sitting out on the patio eating breakfast, whether its on a cool Houston spring morning or for people watching after a late night of debauchery, the West Gray Cafe makes an agreeable spot.Listed in: Diner Breakfast, 24

I live only a few blocks away from West Gray Cafe, so the fact that I don't eat there more often should tell you something. Basically, there are only two reasons to go there:
A) You just drunkenly stumbled out of karaoke night at PJs and you need the liquor-sponge of fries and some sort of mediocre meat product.
-or-
B) You didn't wake up until everyone else has stopped serving breakfast (or you don't like waiting 45 minutes to be seated for brunch) and you MUST have french toast and bacon.
Pros: the staff is generally very nice, it's open 24-hours, it's almost never crowded, breakfast whenever, it's not fast food or iHop.
Cons: depressing atmosphere, sloooowww service (even though it's never crowded), mediocre food.
Sometimes I'm glad it's there, but mostly "meh" -
Review from Daniel L.
I came here on a work-lunch one day. I pretty much fell in love with being able to order pancakes for lunch. I am easily amused. The pancakes were great. It was not crowded - which was nice to be able to have a conversation at normal volume.
If you work downtown you know you need to drive a fair piece to procure pancakes at the closest iHop.
iHop? No thanks.
Denny's? No thanks.
West Gray? Hell yes. -

These might be the best hash browns I've had in Houston - surprisingly grease-free with solid crisping. I did have to add borderline obscene amounts of salt to my food for flavor (hash browns and grits), but it's another plus that this place gives you the option of a low sodium diet. Nothing special about the food, just good, solid, cheap, late night food.
If you are popping in at wee hours like I was, be prepared to deal with obnoxious drunkos. -
Review from Albert N.
West Gray Cafe is another acceptable location for late night dining along (wait for it) West Gray. It's a casual, laid back place, with standard diner food and a few Greek specialties mixed in.
The food is better than your typical 24 hour chain place, and it's got way more character and soul.
Staff is friendly, and you're not hurried out. Outdoor dining is an option, and the front porch is very nice when the weather cooperates.Listed in: Old School Houston

Houston, TX
I've only been to this place during the week when everything else is closed and I don't really feel like dealing with a crowd of people. The service is usually pretty good and the place is OK. There have been times when the smell of cigarette smoke seems to infuse the inside dining location. Also the decor isn't the most up to date so sometimes it feels like you've stepped back a decade or so. I try not to venture into the bathroom because it can be quite scary. Part of me wonders, if the bathroom looks this bad, what does the kitchen look like?
The food is OK. I've never had anything besides their breakfast so I can't vouch for the rest of their menu. The chicken fried steak and eggs are tasty, but not the best. The corned beef hash is sometimes a bit too salty, but it'll satisfy a late night craving. The house salad is nothing more than bagged mix of iceberg lettuce and carrots with a good serving of dressing, so you might want to ask for the dressing on the side unless you like drenched lettuce.
There's really not much more to say about this place. The hours are convenient and so is parking. Just stick to the breakfast menu and maybe the fried appetizers, because really if you mess up simple deep fried foods then that's just trouble right there. Don't take my word on the appetizers just because I haven't tried them but if you venture to the route let me know how it goes. -

Apparently I had already written this review. I might have consumed some beverages of the alcoholic kind which in turn caused me to forget wrting this review.
We showed up at around 2:30 am and there were all sorts of different people there. I remember some woman with shiney silver spandex pants. Not sure what kind of party she went to. But im sure it was awesome.
The one thing I know from having lived in Houston for my entire life is that most diners have pretty damn good chicken fried steak.
Another thing that I know from having family from Spain/Mexico is that everything tastes better when accompanied by an egg. I merged these two philosphies when I saw that they had chicken fried steak, 2 sunny side up eggs, hashbrows, and a muffin. It was the greatest merger and aquisition I have ever been a part of.
I think the wait time was somewhat significant since I dont think there were too many people there but the waitress did mention that they were understaffed at the time.
Total cost of the meal was around 12 bucks. Not bad at all considering the amount of awesome food I ate.1 Previous Review:

The "Open 24 Hours" on the sign should clue you in that West Gray Cafe is best visited when traveling from Drunktown, USA. That said, my only experience here is at 6 PM on a Sunday evening.
The interior is about what you would expect from a 24-hour diner. The only real point of interest is a large collection of foreign money on one wall near the restrooms. Speaking of restrooms, they were clean and well stocked with soap and towels.
Though they serve breakfast 24/7, I opted for the grilled chicken pita with fries. The portion was huge (see photo under business details), and the fries were crisp and hot. After receiving my meal, I asked for a few extra tomatoes, and my waitress happily obliged. The pita was simple yet hot and fresh, and it wasn't at all greasy like you might expect from an establishment of this sort.
Nothing to see here during non-vampire hours, but I rate West Gray Cafe a solid option for your late night cravings. As always, your mileage may vary. -

The only reason you would come here is because it is a 24 hour place and Bibas moved a couple streets over and you aren't exactly sure where.
Very generic food, including burger's, sandwiches, and breakfast goodies. For greek food, i would recommend the sampler as it encompasses most of their menu. I wish there was more to say about this place but it is so forgettable that this ends now. -

Good parking. Not a great way to start a review, but thats the best feature. The dinner food isn't that great, but not terrible either. Don't be in a hurry here, you're most likely going to have a little wait for the food, especially on a weeknite.
Good place for your group gathering if you want to talk and drink, and you have plenty of time. Have had a few bike nites. Sit on the patio, or indoors if it's hot.
Never many people here, it seems, except perhaps the late nite crowd after the bars start shutting down. Good for breakfast!
Imagine, I ordered a Greek salad once, and it had no olives or Feta!
All in all, still gets a three for being a decent place to hang out and chat.
I think if they'd update the decor just a bit it would increase their traffic. Just my .03 cents worth.Listed in: Top Restaurants

Findings:
1. Ambiance: The lighting is good for reading, some of the tables are a bit creaky but overall the place is very well maintained.
2. Parking: They have their own lot, usually very empty. I've never had trouble finding a spot.
3. Price: Price of this 24h diner is similar to IHOP / Denny's.
4. Food/Drink: They occasionally have drink specials and happy hour but their food is consistent and standard for a 24h diner. It's good if you're hungry. If you're a foodie, this place might not cut it.
5. Staff: Staff is very friendly and attentive. Go there often and you'll see regulars.
Impressions:
1. Overall, this is an *excellent* study spot (I come here regularly), and that's probably its best quality. To be honest, I have never seen more than 5 people in the entire cafe at any one time, even though it has a capacity of 140 people. This makes for a great quiet atmosphere to get a cup of coffee and get some work done. The wifi is fast and free, the outlets are on the walls, and the staff encourage you to stay and get work done, continually filling your coffee cup.
2. The large open areas are great for groups and I've noticed the staff cater to groups well.
3. They also have a patio which a few people take advantage of.
4. It loses one star because I feel like it won't cater to people looking to meet other people (even though it's a cafe) due to its low attendance (for some reason). Additionally, the food is pretty standard. Again, it is a 24h diner, so I was never really expecting much. -

A Greek-owned establishment, West Gray Cafe serves gyros and diner food punctuated with friendly, quaint service and a relaxing atmosphere.
Most of their business is done on Saturday and Sunday mornings, but, being open 24-hours, they also serve the late night crowd. Unlike other diners, West Gray does not chase away bookworms or students looking for a late night place to study.
Also, various interest groups in the area have made arrangements with management for a place to conduct small meetings and/or get-togethers. -

Get the cheese sticks!!!! They will cure any hangover!
Aside from the drunk frat boys obnoxiously flirting with my female partners in crime, my experience last night at West Gray Cafe was excellent. Being a 24-hr food establishment should clue you in to the quality of the fare, but when you are drunk and craving cheesesticks, the short drive from Montrose or Midtown is worth it.
I think the thing I like most about this restaurant are the regulars. I've only been here twice, but each visit, the madam of the house has been very friendly, and you can tell that some of the clientele come regularly based on the familiar small talk initiated by the owner! I love the atmosphere of places with "the usual crowd"! It kinda reminds me of all the horrible sitcoms where groups of friends live their lives hopping from one food or drinking establishment to the next.
Our food was fine. I got cheesesticks for my inebriation, and because I was feeling particularly gluttonous tonight, I also got the biscuits with sausage gravy. THESE CHEESESTICKS CAN CURE ANY HANGOVER!
Maybe its just me, but when I have a couple cocktails, I always crave CHEESESTICKS! -

If it's late at night and you're looking for a place to go eat in town, West Gray is a solid, cheap option that can deliver a satisfying meal for $5 to $10.
Basically a short order place with some gyros and a few other more special items.
Large portions and nicer during the day time. Not too greasy, either.Listed in: W.A.R. Zone

How does this place only have 3 stars so far? Probably because most of these clowns who have reviewed it so far don't take the WG Cafe for what it is: a very solid 24-hour diner, and the closest thing you're going to get to Waffle House inside the loop. Now if you're looking for a classy place to take your date on Valentine's Day, WGC is a horrible choice. You would be better off taking her to a classier establishment like Red Lobster. Simply put, the WGC must be taken for what it is, and when viewed on those terms, it's a very solid place to eat during odd hours.
I would downgrade my rating to 3 stars if we're talking about eating during *normal* hours. This, however, is the solution for when it's 1:45 AM at the Doghouse Tavern, and those CS-ers say they don't have time to make you a pizza, so your next best alternatives are to either go home and eat Graham Crackers or go enjoy a solid breakfast at the WGC.
