Review from Brianne K.
Victoria, BC
I took my boyfriend out to Sooke to rent Hobie kayaks and we had a blast!
Allen gave us great suggestions about where we should pedal around and thoroughly explained how to use the kayaks. He outfitted us with everything we would need including a banana to snack on! I felt completely safe the entire time even though I'd been nervous going into it and my boyfriend still felt like he'd had an adventure. We're both from the prairies so seeing sea stars, seals, crab, eagles, and even boats was pretty exciting for us.
Excellent fun and we plan to do it again! -

Woohoo! Truly as good as it gets!
To start, Allen, the owner, was genuinely nice and extremely helpful.
We rented 2 Hobie tandem inflatable kayaks for the full day in Sooke.
Allen delivered them out to our rental house in the East Sooke and dropped them off our adjacent dock in the Sooke Basin.
He set everything up, provided life vests for all the adults and multiple kids (aged 6-10), and we had a full day of safe but insane fun! Got to see some seals and plenty of wildlife. We're not big outdoorsmen, but we handled the kayaks w/ ease w/ Allen's quick lesson at the start of the day.
When in Sooke, I would DEFINITELY recommend renting these Hobie's from WC Outdoor Adventure Rentals. -
Review from Patricia L.
We rented a hobie kayak (you pedal with your feet instead of using a paddle) for a few hours. The person who helped us was very friendly and helpful. He taught us how to steer the kayak and then went over the days conditions and where we could see wildlife. Please don't be like my bf and watch YouTube videos thinking that you are going to go to Sooke and kayak with killer whales...because that is totally unreasonable. That is a once in a lifetime occurrence (i.e., highly unlikely). However, we saw tons of seals, otters, and birds. Sooke Harbour is a beautiful place to kayak and it's also a great workout! Definitely a great place to spend a beautiful sunny day.

Review from Michael S.
Allen was great! We rented an inflatable tandem kayak for an afternoon on Sooke Harbour. Allen spent about an hour with us, going over places to kayak, making sure we were comfortable, giving us instruction, and was just super friendly. He even loaned me his jacket because I'd forgotten mine!
The boat itself was great. It was pedal powered, and a great workout. It was super stable and we felt completely safe. We kayaked among the rocks, through the kelp beds, and had a picknic on the spit. We then kayaked out to the abandoned tugboat grounded in the harbour. We had a great afternoon and highly recommend it.
