When I had trouble finding a decent place to do martial arts training in the Richmond area (or near Sexsmith Community School), I ended up signing up with a Wushu club operating out of the False Creek community centre.  I trained there for 1.5 years before circumstances led me elsewhere.  But during that time, I had a lot of fun.

The head instructor, Bruce Fontaine, has a stunt background having done wushu scenes in a number of Hong Kong films, including Operation Condor with Jackie Chan.  He is an incredibly affable person who genuinely cares about his students' development.

Bruce recently opened classes at a new location in central Richmond.  He offers training in Wushu and Sanshou for both children and adults.  He is an excellent children's instuctor, knowing when to push and when to stop.  The kids all have a great time with him.

Wushu ended up being a bit too theatrical for my tastes, but if you really want to get into a very gymnastic and showy style of martial art.  It's a good one to look into.  And Bruce teaches it very well.  I can't speak about his Sanshou classes though, since they didn't exist when I was training with him.
