Review from Simon K.
Was recommended by a friend who comes here often to eat. Came in and noticed a refreshing spa like smell when coming in the door (I wonder if it was someone's perfume), but it was refreshing.
The decor of the place is great, as it has a zen like feel, from the elevated floor, to the glass panels with the strips of green bambo with a backing of white rocks to emphasize the green. It's a very comfortable place for a place that serves bubble tea, but also serves some pretty good food.
Located in the plaza on Alexandra and Hazelbridge, this place doesn't look like much on the outside, but when you enter the place, it's a whole different story. The first of the chains 3 restaurants so far, I have heard about this place, but never came to eat here till now. I was pleasantly surprised at the food.
The seating area is very spacious, and not crammed, like some other restaurants. The table even has an electronic buzzer like button if you need to call over the server, or just want the bill.
I ordered the spicy beef hotpot, and it came quite quickly, probably because I kept talking to my friend, and didn't notice the time of day. A little presentable pot, topped off with raw spinach, and served with a side of satay sauce (for dipping) and white rice. I must say this was real good, for about $10 and your done, this meal filled me up, as they had enough vegetables, beef, and spice (as I was sweating).
I hope to come back again to write a follow-up review, but with this first experience, I'm coming back. -

Well Tea located on Hazelbridge in Richmond is a bubble tea (BBT) shop offering a large selection of tea drinks and meal choices...
Rice, noodles, snacks, hot pot sukiyaki, etc...
The space is large with tables and booth seats... Well lit with Chinese music playing in the background (as with most BBT places)
Deep fried pork in red fermented sauce in noodle soup $7.95
What is red fermented sauce? It is basically red fermented bean curd preserved in rice win and other seasonings used to add flavor and for braising. The deep fried pork marinated in red fermented sauce is rich in flavor with a crunchy exterior and juicy tender center. I wanted to substitute for vermicelli (instead of egg noodles) but was refused because it wasn't on the menu.
Funny how I swear I saw that as a choice if I ordered a mix-and-match soup noodle. Clearly my English is terrible! Or perhaps re-learn Chinese. Anyways, some things are not worth arguing about.
Fried Pork Steak with black pepper sauce $8.50
This meal set comes with a plate of fried pork and black pepper sauce, rice and mini side dishes. The pork itself is well seasoned and isn't too dry much similar to the above just seasoned slightly different. The unfortunate thing was Amy found a long piece of hair in her pork... That was a bit of a turn off to say the least!
BBT are all around the $5 point and sizes are generous.
Lychee Green Tea
I like how it wasn't super sweet and doesn't have that artificial flavoring or sour after taste.
Wheat Germ Milk Tea
A well crafter wheat germ with actual wheat germ flakes... I enjoyed the thick richness of this drink that wasn't just powdered base.
Well Tea is a great hang out place especially after dinner, when you don't feel like consuming alcohol and/or you have nowhere to go. I'm sad at the fact that they also opened one at UBC and another on Seymour downtown after I left... But for all your working folks streets of downtown Vancouver and need something new to try, this is not a bad choice! -

I only came here for bubble tea. So here is my view of this place. The tea's are not bad at all.
The place can get pretty busy in there. Since the service isn't that great I'm sure you can walk in, get your drink and sit. You'll sit there for a long time before you see somebody. You have to use the stupid button to summon a waitress. So if you dropped a drink on your cool hot pants and you need a towel, you'll need to press the button. Spill hot soup or tea on your crotch and it burns like you have a STD? Press the button for service.
Order is wrong? Press the stupid button. The servers are probably not aware of what's going on that you probably could walk out without paying. Not that I never have done that but do I really need to press a button to get my bill?
Drinks for us came in one at a time. So by the time you get yours, your friends might have already have their drinks done.
ON the positive side the free wifi is awesome. Great to surf porn on your phone when sipping on some bubble tea, or Facebook.
And last but not least, my brother tripped on a piece of metal window frame that has some kind of bamboo art in the floor or something. I saw acouple people actually trip on this, maybe this should be fixed... -

I love the free wifi here. Its the coolest thing for us AT&T roaming travelers. It feels my 3G is coming back alive!
The drinks are average at best, yet the shave ice is nothing to write home about, but I guess this is the norm in Vancouver cafe. Even the waitress admit the food here is pretty "so so"
Thanks again for the free wifi! -

3.5 Stars.
The service is pretty standard for a bubble tea place, but the atmosphere is by far the best part. Bright and colorful. We came around midnight and got the slush, mango green tea, and a condensed milk toast.
My slush was pretty good, but I ended up trading with my bf who claimed that the mango green tea he got was too tart/bitter. I loved that they used actual fruit in our drinks, as opposed to the powdery junk you get sometimes. We didn't get any entrees, but saw that a couple seated close to us got hot pot.
If I lived in Richmond, I'd be intrigued enough with this space to come back and try the food. -

It's a good place to hang out, have some tea and Taiwanese food. The service is hit and miss. Depends on who your server is. The food is good, not great. We had a bowl of beef noodle soup ($8). Again, it was good, but not great. The noodles were firm and the portions decent.
We also ordered a kimchee hotpot. Maybe they shouldn't use iron pots, because the soup wouldn't boil. So it took awhile to cook the extra plate of meat we ordered. Their hotpot selection is limited, but it's good.
I also had an ice caramel bobba tea. Man.... it was good. I just wish they come in a bigger glass.
I'd come back here again. -

Honestly, this bubble tea place has the best drinks and food among all the bubble tea restaurants I have been to so far.
I have been here a couple of times. As well as my own drinks, I try my friends' drinks when they order too. So far, their drinks have never disappointed.
So why the low rating? Food isn't everything... Service counts when you're running a business. They probably don't understand that.
The service during the times I ate in were nothing exceptional. They take your order, give you the food, and give you the bill. They have these buttons on the tables so you can press it for service, because like most asian restaurants, they won't come talk to you unless you ask for them first.
What was really bad was when I ordered my drinks to-go. I sat there for 20 minutes waiting for two drinks to be made when the place was not busy.
I don't know how much work or time its required to make a cup of bubble tea, but I'm pretty sure it does not take 20 minutes. The employees were talking and giggling instead of making the drinks. Some of them even stared at me while I was waiting. Instead of feeling like they acknowledge the fact that I am waiting, I feel like they are giving me the "why are you sitting in our restaurant?" stare.
After waiting for such a long time, I went over to the counter to ask if my drinks were done... To find that they have already finished making my drinks but they didn't tell me. So if I didn't ask them, they would have never gave me my drinks?
Despite the quality of the drinks, I probably won't be back for a while because of the quality of their service. -

Ok... if your coming here thinking that your gonna get top notch service with a smile, always seeing if your ok, if you need anything, etc etc, well you WON'T get it here!! turn your car around and head to Bubbleworld!
They got a button on each table to let the server know that you need something.. wow talk about not interacting with your guests... oh well, it seems to work.
This place was recommended by a friend of mine (Maggie L) so i decided to check it out with some of my boys! Great place to chill and shoot the shit. Food was good, and the boba wasn't bad as well. overall a clean esablishment. Its the service that pissed me right off! it was like they didn't care about their customers well-being. I even saw a few servers texting and playing games on their freakin bedazzled cell phones totally ignoring peoples call buttons.. and when they finally get to peoples tables, they're all rude about it.. SERIOUSLY?!??! Service is key to a successful buisness. not only food.. just sayin..
im at a loss for words now..... -
Review from Edward L.
Came here based on the recommendation of my friend (I had picked another place initially).
Parking was decent today, but there has been many an occasion where the lot is completely full and you have to illegally park at a nearby lot.
The decor is quite nice. The interior is clean and classy, and I do like the glass floor inserts with the bamboo / brass pieces.
The food was average. I ordered a "Spicy Thai" soup which tasted nothing close to anything I had in Thailand. Maybe they got my order wrong, as it tasted more like the cream broth you'd find in a ramen shop. The beef was a bit dry, but the pork blood came in nice large chunks.
The salty peppery chicken wasn't bad in terms of batter, but the pieces were quite small (ie more difficult to stab with a fork), and there was quite a bit of fat mixed in.
But the dealbreaker was that NONE of their drinks contain real fruit! Most places will have a selection of both powdered / real fruit, but this place only serves 100% powder. I'd prefer not pay $5 for a glass of powder. So, today I had water. However I have had the drinks here before, and if powder's your thing, they are quite tasty.
Another thing to note: service is quite lacking here. It's not actually bad (the staff weren't rude or anything), but I ran out of water several times and actually had to flag them down, and the place was only maybe 1/3 full. It also took several minutes to flag down the staff for our bill. They kept huddling (and socializing) at the far end.
Bottom line: the food isn't bad, but there are better places to choose from along Alexandra Road, especially if you want service. -

My two girlfriends and I come here often for ice kachan.
That's the only thing I come here for. Green bean, grass jelly, condensed milk.
Now I don't live in Vancouver anymore, I miss this place. It's big and clean enough, comfortable place.
Cash only. -

Love the interior of this place. Its clean with modern furnishings and good lights. The bubble tea is good too. Ordered one of their house speicals the last time I went. I forgot the name of it, but it had peach, orange and some sort of kiwi in it. It tasted a bit like the watered down orange punch that McDonald's sometimes serves at first, but after I stirred it a bit, it wasn't too bad. I think it was just a bad choice. I've had their other more "normal" bubble tea and haven't been disappointed.
In general their food is okay - nothing great. If I want good taiwanese snack food, I usually go to Pearl Castle. Despite that, I'm a HUGE fan of their tempura fish cake. Its fried well and is seasoned well. Yum!
Their shaved ice plates are delcious and huge. Got one with condensed milk and red bean (there was one other item on it, but I forgot what it was).
Service was good, but a bit confused. The servers seem like they don't have a strong grasp of English and Cantonese is pretty much a no go. Otherwise its a good experience and I'll definitely be back. SHAVED ICE!! yummmm -

A good place to hang out and chat.
Lately, I've only had their lychee green tea with grass jelly (as I am still battling with my grass jelly addiction). Sadly, their grass jelly misses the mark. It is fresh, but the texture are just too flimsy.
Their lychee green tea has pretty good flavor, not too over sweetened as most places. -

wow, this shop is everything a quickly boba shop isn't.
clean!
$4.50 for a huge bowl of shaved ice, red beans, taro, and condensed milk. incredibly delicious.
so clean!
the other shaved ice bowls though, with passion fruit, lychees, syrups, were all too sweet. too much syrup! my friend finished his large bowl, and there was a pool of sweet syrup leftover at least an inch deep, wow. dont get me wrong, their ice bowls are still good with fresh fruit and all, but wouldnt hurt much to ease up a bit on the syrups...
clean!
plenty of seating, maybe 60+ people, clean bathrooms, and service was exceptionally courteous and understanding. 8D -

i love coming to this place to chill and hang out... this place has a nice atmosphere and the seating area is super comfy... and it has very delicious food and drinks...
when it's cold outside, i like to get the hot oolong milk tea... conversely the ice cold version when it's summer time... and when i'm hungry, i like to get their chicken / pork chop fried rice... i believe it's $8 or so for the rice, but it taste so good and it's filling... their hot pots have large portions and tastes delicious... -

on the menu, it says you have to wait at least 15 minutes for a bowl of beef noodle.
when you order, the waitress with horrid english, also reminds you that it'll take 15minutes for a bowl of beef noodle.
but oh my god even if i had to wait 30 minutes, this was the best home-made style bowla beef noodle i've ever tasted. brought me back to the days my momma still made beef noodle. -

This is one of my favourite places for bbtea food. It is a clean establishment and I absolutely love my stapes: sukiyaki beef hot pot and the bbtea drinks vary but my staple is macha slush with pearls or passion fruit green tea. The strawberry / blueberry slush or hot almond milk tea is good too. The AAA beef with tomoato hot pot is good too. Those are usually the only dishes I order. It is a good price for a huge portion. They used to give a lot more meat when I first came, but it is still really filling. I love pressing the button for service. The service experience i have had is very consistent and good.

Went to the place about 9:30 pm for a cup of tea, also ordered pan fried radish cake and Taiwanese-style chicken nuggets. We waited for about 15 minutes and noticed the table next to us who came later than us were already receiving drinks, so we asked the waitress and she told us: it's a busy night and I will check on your orders. But of course she did not check for us. 10 minutes later, we asked another waiter about our orders, he came back in 5 minutes and told us: we messed up your order and have to restart it for you, by the way, we are out of radish cakes. At this point, I was about had it, so I got up and left. First of all, they forgot my order, second of all, the waitress lied to me when she said she was gonna check on our orders, finally, it took the waiter 30 minutes to tell us that they are out of radish cakes? We sat there for 30 minutes and did not even receive our cup of tea. It was a terrible experience.

My first time at Well Tea, and the perfect day for it too! Great selection of bubble teas and icy beverages but would have liked to see more teas without 'milk' in it. I had the ice with mixed beans, green mango and grass jelly (my hubby chose...bleh) but aside from that, it was good and refreshing on a hot hot day! My boys had lichee rose frost which was good and strawberry milk bubble tea with pearl. Good for large groups. Will go again...
