One word: Safe.
I come here for take out bubble tea usually and have done the sit down once. The service is as others say, but I never go to bubble tea places looking for service. It's never been super memorable for any reason, but it satisfies the bubble tea or beef noodle craving as well as any other place (and yes, there's the downtown premium that's been cited by others... well, you gotta satisfy the craving). The menu is probably the same as the other Well Tea and is about equivalent to Beefy Beef/Bubble World. Unless another bubble tea place pops up closer to work, I'm gonna keep coming back here and I am okay with that! -

I had heard about this place from a couple of people and decided to go the other night. We ordered bubble tea and some food.
The staff was very friendly. In a place where you have a buzzer to call over the server, you'd think it's be very industrial, but everyone was friendly. The bubble tea is more expensive but it isn't your cheap bubble tea either. It tastes better than the typical bubble world. The food was good. We ordered some rice noodles with pork (not sure the proper name for it), marinated bean curd, spring rolls, and the spring onion omelet (which has flour in it). All of it was good although too much for two :)
Overall, I would go back and recommend it to others! They do close at 10 and they seem strict about that...they will turn off their open sign at 9:30pm. -

Got a take-out order a few weeks ago as dinner at the office. With so many choices on the menu, I had a hard time making a decision.
In the end, I decided on the Beef & Green Onion Stir Fry set menu, which included rice and 3 vegetable side dishes. It came nicely packed and easy enough to eat in front of a computer. Flavour was alright. Nothing too terribly exciting. The Fresh Taro Milk Tea was actually quite nice.
I highly doubt I'll actually go have a sit-down meal here, but Well Tea fulfils its purpose as a nicer take-out dinner. For that reason alone, their take-out menu is now thumb tacked onto my cubicle wall. Till next busy season, Well Tea, next busy season... -

Only been there for lunch twice and neither trips were memorable. This place is however one of the few places downtown with bubble tea so I'm back for their bubble tea. They had a 2-for-1 a few mnths ago so that was awesome! Selection of bubble tea extensive enough for me but more of a to-go place than a sit-down as I wasn't very impressed with their food (if I can't remember, hence not outstanding :-)). Yes, you do pay a premium for bubble-teas there (at least $5) but beggars can't be choosers!! Hehehe.

I'm the type that would rather die than eat alone at a sit-in restaurant but Well Tea is actually not a bad place to do this. They have tables meant for 1 positioned in the cozy corner of the restaurant. Service is responsive and speedy thanks to the service button thingamajig on each table. Even though the waitresses predominantly speak Mandarin, they have no troubles understanding Cantonese; OR just speak English. Portions and food quality are eh-okay, I've had better, but then again, it is Downtown and Well Tea is probably your best choice for bubbletea in the area. 4/5 Stars.

Why don't more restaurants have a doorbell at your table? Isn't it like every place in this city... when it comes time to order, or to pay the check.... no one is to be found? Look no further.... pay for your beef on rice and tapioca tea concoction by the ring of a doorbell. Someone runs to your aid !!
Food was pretty good, very cheap. Not so busy when we were there...
"Tip" tell them that you saw and advert in your elevator, get a free tea with your meal.
Enjoy! -

One of the few bubble tea places downtown.
Prices are a bit more than elsewhere (some $1 or so), but this is what I'd call the "downtown premium".
In terms of decor / food quality, it's pretty much identical to the other location in Richmond. Which means it's decent.
One thing that made me chuckle was the fact they use napkins from other restaurants. They're not the 1st place to do this but it's still funny nonetheless. -

To the owner/manager of Well Tea on Seymour, I have two words for you, Customer Service. Or should I say lack there of.
My friends and I used to be a huge fan of this place, but now, unless something changes, I doubt we're ever going back. There is a total lack of customer service. It's as if the customer is expected to cater to every demand of the management, not the other way around.
We went there today to have some bubble tea and one of my friends wanted to come, but didn't want to have anything. They told him that there was a per person minimum and that they had to order something or leave. Let me just add that the restaurant was practically empty when they told him this too. That was issue #1.
The second issue was when it came time for the bill. We all wanted separate bills. They refused to separate it saying they only do that for tables of 4 or less. Again, the restaurant was empty at the time.
The final straw was when some of my friends asked them to split a $20 bill so that they could pay cash since they wouldn't separate the bill. Yes, you guessed right, they refused to do that too saying that it inconveniences them having too many $20 bills!!
So, in conclusion, I hope that the owner/manager reads this and changes their business strategy or else they will probably find themselves out of business soon.
Those bubble tea and Taiwanese cuisine lovers out there, if you want great food AND excellent customer service, then try Dash Cafe on Pacific Boulevard. You won't be disappointed. -

I wish this place was better. It's right next to work, has intriguing, pop inspired decor but it is Meh in a big way.
First big disappointment was not being able to access the bathroom. I was given a three digit code to enter the ladies room WTF? and after several tries, I gave up and went to Tim Horton's around the corner AFTER dinner.
I ordered a bowl of shrimp wonton soup with noodles. The broth was salty and lacked depth. The wonton were so-so, and the noodles were thick and gummy. I was starving so I ate a good portion of it but I'll be skipping this place in future. -

I recently went there for lunch for the first time. I was seated just around 11:30am so it was not busy at all. However, the fact that the restaurant was only one-third seated did not prevent the waitstaff from getting my order wrong 3 times. Patrons after me received their orders. I walked out & made sure they knew why. It was one of the most annoying restaurant experience I've had.

It's not great but it isn't a bad place to get a quick lunch around downtown if you're trying to get away from the massive international student crowd.
My minced beef noodles wasn't memorable but my Taiwanese mate seemed to think the food is all right. I wouldn't go back in a heartbeat 'coz sushi is my thing.
2.5 stars not 3 as the washrooms were subpar. -

If it weren't for the deep fried chicken nuggets, I wouldn't come back here again. I came here with 2 friends on a Friday afternoon around 6, and the place wasn't very busy (there were quite a few empty tables), the waitress was extremely flustered when she took our order, she kept asking us to repeat ourselves, even though she spoke perfect English.
We ordered 3 drinks and the chicken nuggets to share.
Ten minutes later our food came. Another 15 minutes later, we still hadn't gotten our drinks. When we buzzed the waitress to come by, she came asking if there was anything we needed, although I thought it was pretty obvious. She reported back to us that they were making our drinks now. What on earth were they doing before?!
Anyways, my friends' drinks arrived, but by the time we were done with the food my drink was still nowhere to be seen. We asked the waitress to go check on it, and she again came back saying they were just starting it now. I was fed up, so I told them to cancel it. We were pretty much done anyways.
The last irk was when we got the bill, we pressed the "$" icon on the call button, but the waitress just came by asking what we needed. What's the point of having a 4 different buttons?
I'm here for the food and the decent bubble tea, but if another place opened up downtown that started serving the chicken nuggets, I'm outta here. -

It's a great location and it has fantastic decor, but I'm just not completely sold on Well Tea.
Granted, if you want bubble tea and you're smack downtown it's definitely a viable option. They've got a large selection of teas and slushes all for a decent price. However, service was more abrupt than friendly and it took a while for our bubble teas to come out - much of this can be blamed on how busy it is. Still, quality of bubble tea isn't the greatest - the consistency of their slush left chunks of ice at the bottom of my cup. It ain't hard to work a blender. They're also really stingy about sitting in the restaurant with a to-go cup; while waiting for all of our to-go drinks, some of our friends had already began drinking theirs and were promptly informed of the policy.
But enough complaining - this was the first bubble tea drink I had coming back from TO and man, it was better than anything I had over there. So, while this won't be my first choice for bubble tea while downtown, if I'm too lazy to travel down Robson to Bubble World then I'll come back around.Listed in: T

I was very excited when I found out about Well Tea as I've waited a long time for a Taiwanese food + bubble tea restaurant to be opened in Downtown Vancouver.
The restaurant was very clean, modern, and the service was great. I would even say the service was better than some of the similar restaurants in Richmond that I've been. The food and drink were very tasty and came very quickly as well.
On the issue of needing a passcode to use the bathroom, its no different than needing to be buzzed-in in order to use the bathroom at some fast food restaurants, so I don't know why people would complain about it.
Overall, I'm very happy with my experience there and will definitely return become a regular. Hope they are staying for the long haul! -

The rating explanations when you're writing a review on Yelp says it all. "Meh, I've experienced better."
I've been to the BCIT and UBC locations and I'm not at all impressed with their bubble tea. The texture is a very rough slush; I was drinking small chunks of ice here and there. I asked if they could do a milk slush and they said they don't do that. But my biggest complaint is the pearls - both locations had smaller, harder pearls rather than soft and chewy but firm centre. Pearls really make or break the drink and both times I've gone it's been terrible.
Definitely the last time I'll go. If I absolutely need bubble tea downtown then I'd just go to Bubble World on Robson (I hear good things about the place across the street too). My favorite place though is Dragon Ball. -

I'm so happy there is finally solid bubble tea in downtown! I tried this location out for lunch and it was really good value. The deep fried black pepper chicken thigh was pretty good and it came with rice and side dishes for $7.45. It got pretty busy around noon, but service was better than most bubble tea places. The completely renovated the space and it was clean, comfortable and modern. The menus for drinks and food are the same as the Richmond location. Overall, I'm going to be back!
