Review from Culinary S.

We started enjoying their culinary delights at their first location, which was much smaller but every bit as good. Having had enjoyed success in the Saskatoon food scene, they moved to a larger location very nearby. The new location has a great vibe, incorporating fabulous and funky decor playing with tasteful and classy "junk art".
The menu changes about every two weeks so it's hard to review specific dishes. The menu features local products and includes a very good, strictly Canadian wine list.
Part of the vibe is the chalkboard menu which they bring to each table and explain to you, encouraging questions from their diners. They always leave it with you for a while so you can contemplate your choices.
They almost always have gnocchi on the appetizer menu; however, they change how it's served, using different sauces and toppings. They often serve it in a crispy style, however, that's not a hard rule.
Dan, the owner and chef, knows his flavour combinations and is fearless. There are some unexpected combinations in his dishes but regardless of how odd they sound they always taste fantastic.
The meats are always tender, never overcooked, and richly flavoured. One of the highlights is the free-range, locally sourced chicken. We normally don't eat chicken at a restaurant, but it's so well made here it's often hard to resist. What truly amazes us is the texture of his chicken; he never overcooks it. Somehow Dan's pinpointed the point at which chicken is just no longer pink on the inside, then he immediately removes it from the heat leaving it fabulously moist.
Desserts are equally outstanding. In our experience creme brulee and lemon tart are always on the menu, for good reason; both are outstanding.
One thing we really appreciate about Weczeria is that their portion sizes are perfect. Diners can enjoy a three course meal without feeling bloated or leaving behind delicious food on their plate. -

Saskatoon, SK
Weczeria (I was told it's pronounced va-cher-ee-a) is one of Saskatoon's finest restaurants. I was there with some colleagues for dinner and ordered the gnocchi appetizer and it was the best gnocchi I've ever had. It was soft and had quite an interesting soft, almost gummy texture, unlike any I had tasted before. I ordered the Pickerel for dinner and it came perfectly cooked. In both cases the presentation was excellent. The service was also great, with our server coming to check on us regularly enough without interrupting the conversation too often. The two reasons I would not give this restaurant a fifth star though are: 1. The price. Although the food is delicious if you came really hungry you would still leave hungry, so despite the high quality I would say the price is a bit steep. For one person with an appetizer, entree, and a glass of wine expect about 60-70 dollars. 2. When we attempted to order wine our server left twice and came back to tell us that both of our first two choices were not available. Although they did make up for this by giving us our third choice (a more expensive bottle by 10 dollars) at the lower price of our second choice, nevertheless, I feel like they should have known if two types of wine were not available and adjusted accordingly. My guess would be that there were more than just those two that weren't available.
Overall though, as far as service and food quality go, this is one of the best Saskatoon has to offer. I would say it comes a close second to St. Tropez, only because St. Tropez has slightly lower prices and better portion sizes with roughly the same quality of food and presentation. -

What a wonderful restaurant with a wickedly hard to pronounce name. Outside it is easy to discern the resto by seeing the bold W sign. It was the only restaurant open on a very cold Monday and I am so glad. It is warm and cunningly decorated inside. They have light fixtures comprised of branches with jars with greenry as the light bulb. They have their menu on a chalkboard, which they prop on old chairs in front of your table because it changes daily according to freshly sourced and local produce. I wanted to eat everything on the menu but I resisted because I knew that I had to have dessert, which I spied another table ordering. So I contented myself with the duck with wilted spinach and potato parsnip mash. Heavenly succulent duck meat with velvety mash. Bliss in a plate. For dessert, I had the sinfully rich flourless chocolate cake. My server was lovely and helpful. All the servers are very helpful and agreeable, not to mention quite attractive. I have every intention of eating here every night. Note that they do cater to vegans but you have to give the 48 hour notice along with the reservation. Maybe tomorrow oxtail ravioli. Yummy!

This restaurant is a breath of fresh air in a culinary wasteland. Their menu changes quite frequently, which is excellent, as you are assured something different and equally excellent every visit. This is not the type of place for people who like to eat the over-sized portions of food served in many chain restaurants. However, if you appreciate quality food, and like to savor every bite, then you will certainly enjoy your meal here. This is one of the very few Saskatoon restaurants that lives up to national standards when it comes to stellar food.
They don't have a lot of seating room, so it is best to make a reservation (although I am not sure if they accept reservations for Friday/Saturday evenings).
