Love this place. Okay, it's Waves so I'll have to get over the fact that they have average coffee, uninviting decor and very mediocre food.
BUT this location is definitely my favourite. The staff is awesome here (this location is family owned and operated) and it shows! I always feel welcome and it's in a great location with lots of natural light. -

This is my 2nd time at this Waves Coffee House. The first time, I didn't care for their coffee, and then this time I ordered a Soy Matcha Tea Latte, and I love the fact that it was unsweetened! It tasted quite nice, and I was happily seated in a comfortable armchair next to a fireplace. I noticed that this Coffee House has two "boardrooms" so to speak, and I actually found that to be quite a great idea for people meeting for projects etc.
I stayed there for the better part of the late afternoon, working on a few things, and found it relaxing, until I realized it was 530pm and it was like a giant wave of people flooded the place, and what seemed like a large conversational meetup. It was okay because I was leaving anyhow, but I was overwhelmed at how many people were there, and also, how it didn't seem to be too crowded still.
I guess the daytime is a better bet if you need some concentration, and peace to do some work. It served well as my "office" when I needed one. -

The service here is bizarre. There are three people working although one girl looks as though she is just wandering around aimlessly. I made my order, small non fat latte, was asked if it was for here or to go, they took my payment and then I was virtually forgotten. And so was the lady in front of me. It's not even busy in here at the moment.
I admit I am a Starbucks loyalist and don't like coming to other coffee houses and this just solidifies my thoughts. I've worked in coffee houses before as well and the level of service just ins't to par for paying over 3 bucks for a small latte. If I were you I would head to Starbucks that is up the street on Robson. I'm not coming back here. -

I had to come here to kill some time because I had an appointment at a nearby bank. The coffee was quite good and the service wasn't too bad. It's quite typical of what to expect from a chain like Waves. I like that they offer free WiFi and they serve coffee in mugs for customers who wish to enjoy their coffee at the location.

Yet another coffee shop that pours more foam than milk! Why? I'm paying for 16oz of liquid, not 10 of liquid and 6 of foam. The sizes at Waves are also smaller than you'd think (if you get a drink to stay in) so if you get a flavour syrup that smaller pour will be substantially sweeter with the number of syrup pumps that go in. I'd stick to the take out cups too since they actually seem to be the right liquid measurement - the stay in mugs are too small. Not conducive to getting your money's worth.
The music is spot on though, great 80s tunes! Fabulous! The meeting rooms are also a bonus at this location in case you need to sit down with a group. They do charge for the rooms but the price is minimal and it covers drinks or goodies purchased. -

Feels like starbuck but it's not ha! I don't drink coffee so can't tell you if it's better than others but I like it and this is my review! Great and friendly service and free wifi but that's typical.
