Los Angeles, CA
All I want in a hotel is for a nice room that is quiet. This room is quiet. WiFi is fast. Lots of outlets for my many chargers including extra in the desk area. All of this was a win for me traveling on business.
The bed wasn't the comfiest in the world but the linens smelled nice. Bathroom was clean. Basic toiletries. All good.
I got a terrific rate on the room through our agency but I've seen rooms like these go for double in other cities so it felt like an incredible value to me. Also this is a really lovely part of the city with fun shops and cafes in walking distance and the Library bar made me wish I had a bit more time in Dallas to enjoy the scene. Decor was cute. I liked the striped chairs in the lobby and the silvery gray night tables in my room.
If I have to come back to Dallas I'd totally stay here again. Only this time I'd try to avoid showing up the day 12 tornadoes descend on the city. -

Arrived in town for mother-daughter weekend at my girl's SMU sorority. We've stayed at The Rosewood properties in the past, but both were booked, so we thought we'd try The Warwick.
Beautiful lobby, very nice, amply sized room with WiFi available, prompt valet service and delicious and quiet dinner in The Landmark. Room service was great both mornings and my frustration with an inability to place my order, due to an unanswered phone, was quickly addressed and my order was in our room in no time, with a big apology for any wait.
Have already made my reservation for Parents' Weekend in September. Great location. Great value. -

I would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff is very friendly & I personally like where it's located. It's right down the street from a couple of good restaurants called Eddie V's and Al Bernat's on Oak Lawn Avenue.
I stayed in the corner king suite I believe and had a great view.
The bathroom is kind of small and outdated and I did have a minor issue with the water faucet not giving me cold water but it was fixed right away while I was out at dinner.
I ordered room service one night while I was there and it was decent.
I loved the library bar located in the lobby area. It was nice and the workers there were very attentive.
I didn't get a chance to actually have a sit down dinner in their restaurant but my boss did let me know he had breakfast there one morning and that it was actually really good.
Thank you for your hospitality Warwick Dallas. I enjoyed my stay =) -

The location is it's only saving grace. It's a bit pricy for the amenities, especially since parking is $25.98/night after tax (more with valet tip). The bed was a bit too soft for my taste. The rooms smells a bit moldy. The walls are paper thin, which is fine except most tenants party late into the night. It's basically a failed attempt at revitalizing an old luxury hotel.

An Elite Yelper from Dallas recommended this hotel (Thanks Ariza S.)
and she didn't disappoint.
The service was great , the hotel was clean ,elegant, quiet and had a luxurious feel. The room had a 42 inch plasma TV , they also have a nice thick full length cozy warm and soft bath robe, The bed sheets were soooooo soft - 500 thread sheets- I know I sound like Martha freakin' Stewart.
Walgreens is across the street. Bars and restaurants are nearby.
They also have a elegant piano bar named the "the Library bar" inside the Hotel.
The only downside is parking. It cost $25 a night! I know they do valet parking, but $25 a night c'mon !
Normally the accommodations are expensive, but since I booked thru Priceline, I got a special rate.Listed in: When in Dallas

This is probably the fanciest place I've ever stayed. It was old but nice. You pretty much have to post to park your car overnight so I feel that should be included in the price of the hotel fire the night. It's in a great location, located in Dallas uptown, walking distance to many various places.

Lovvvvvvvvvvve this place. I have stayed in their suites, and I used their banquet room for my wedding reception when I got married many years ago. Every step of the way, the staff went the extra mile to give us true value for your money. While it isn't the cheapest place in town, when we went in with a strict budget, they helped us make the most of every penny. They also gave us a room for the night, and it was lovely.
The hotel has a warm, cozy welcoming feel the moment you step inside. That doesn't change once you enter your room. From the lush, comfy beds to the soft terry cloth robes, it's the little touches that make your stay one of enjoyment.
The food is great, the bar is cozy and it is in a great location.Listed in: Nuptial Bliss

A family member and I decided last minute to take a break from routine and get away for a night. Best choice, the lovely Melrose Hotel. And that it is!
This Grand Dame of hotels is simply exquisite. From driving up to the Valet, to check-in, all expectations were exceeded. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and personable, You are made to feel that you are really special and that they are so glad to have you as a guest.
Our Superior Double Double room was beautiful and large, from the foyer to the sleeping area and enormous bathroom. All was in perfect condition, with lovely decor, accents and the most comfortable beds I've ever encountered in any hotel accommodations. We just knew this was going to be the perfect solution to a short weekend get-away.
We went downstairs to the Library, their very special bar. It has been renovated in the last year, according to Veronica, the bartender. She was just delightful, very friendly and happy to provide our desired libations. Beautiful tasteful surroundings, not stuffy at all for such an upscale venue. Such a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. House Merlot and Miller Lite were served promptly. We so much enjoyed just hanging out at the bar and enjoying a nice visit.
There was however one "burp" in the evening. After a terrific early dinner at Louie's we returned to the hotel. My travel companion, being the night person he is, and me being the "don't go out after dark" geek I am, parted ways! Ha! He decided to go next door to a spot on Cedar Springs for some more evening festivities. I opted for a long, hot bubble bath in that enormous beautiful marble floored bathroom and a quiet evening reading. Plan in place.
Took the luxurious bath, and climbed into my fav comfy pj's. Went to open the bathroom door, and the door knob comes off in my hand. Whoops! Then the reality set it. I couldn't get out of the bathroom. No way to open the door. This is a door with a glass door knob on each side, connected by that little cylinder thingy. Dead bolt locked. Can't get out.
A very long story cut very short, well sort of. For over 3 hours, I pounded on the door, walls & bathroom window, screaming hysterically, gaining momentum with each moment. I am semi-claustrophobic and it worsened by the hour as I was trapped in this room. I knew he would eventually come back, but knew also it could be hours. I emptied my cosmetic bag using anything I could find to push through the opening in the door to attempt to get out; my eyebrow pencil, my mascara wand, the stir sticks from the coffee maker on the counter; nothing worked. I even unscrewed one of the towel racks but it was too large for the opening. I finally made a "bed" of the bath towels and bath mat to lie down on the very hard marble floor during interims of loud irrational pounding and hollering.
Shortly before 1000pm, I heard the phone in the bedroom ring; of course I couldn't answer it; DUH, no phone in the bathroom. I started pounding and screaming again on the door, Went to the bathroom window and pounded so hard I shattered the window with my fist. Oops! But our room was too high up for anyone to hear me.
I then climbed on the tub & took one of the hooks off the shower curtain (a lovely curtain by the way) and started using that to push through the door opening. MIRACLE, I was able to push the door knob on the other side of the door to the floor and the door opened. About this time, security was at the door to the room, probably ready to break down the door as I had the security lock on; travel companion had now become alarmed because I didn't answer the door or the phone. Everyone came rushing in to a crazy, wild, hysterical lunatic who had just escaped her prison.
The night manager, Mare, was in that group and was so upset and so apologetic. She couldn't have been nicer and sincerely concerned about my well being. She offered to send up a bottle of wine, move us to another room, as I was raving incoherently. After I finally achieved my mental state to a calmer nature, I declined her offer not wanting to repack and unpack at this late hour.
Okay, the really funny end to this story. Companion has poured me a glass or two of wine, I'm chilling down, so he goes to take a shower. Shuts the bathroom door (which has no door knobs at this point) and he is locked in. We can't get the door open. Is this room cursed or what? I call downstairs & of course maintenance is there in a flash and unlocks him from his momentary incarceration.
Was our weekend ruined? Absolutely not. Aside from the bruises & blood blisters on my hands from pounding on doors and walls, my stiff and sore body from lying on a marble floor, this is merely another chapter in my one day to be written biography. It will add a little spice to the book, don'tcha think?
The Melrose is a gem in our city, & I would definitely go back to enjoy her gracious hospitality (BTW, Mare did COMP our room for the night. Great response) -

This is the 3rd time that I have stayed at The Melrose Hotel. Since January 2007 it is now a member of the Warwick International Hotel label. Hopefully, this change will provide an influx of cash to make some updates to the hotel. However, in the year it has been under the flag, I have not seen many NEW changes.
The hotel tag line is "A Touch of Excellence", I agree only a touch of it still remains.
However, I enjoy staying at this hotel because of its location. It is located in the Uptown Oak Lawn and Turtle Creek area, the hotel is five minutes from Love Field Airport and twenty-five minutes from D/FW International Airport. By taxi or car it is minutes from the Market Center, Downtown, the Convention Center as well as the West End and McKinney Avenue entertainment areas.
So basically the perfect location.
However, depending on when you stay the price does not reflect the quality that you can get at other high end hotels in town like The W or Hotel Zaza.
With that in mind the hotel does host one of the top 10 restaurants in Dallas in the Landmark - but to be honest with so much diversity and food options in the Dallas area, who wants to eat in the hotel!
I did not know until I looked it up but Dallas has the highest number of restaurants per capita than any other city in the US. So venture out my people, venture out!
The Library Bar in the hotel is the perfect spot to begin or end the evening. The service in the Library Bar is always superb.
During my short stay this week, it does seem that they have improved on the staff to guest ration. Every where I was or looked there seemed to be a hotel employee.
However, the creature comforts in the room need to be updated - the alarm clock is from the 1980's - not that I have a problem with that, but it picks up the interference from my Blackberry from across the room. I had to unplug it. The rest of the furnishings seem to be just as old and uncomfortable.
If you are looking for the best location and base this is it - but if you are one to spend quite a bit of time in the room - I would look elsewhere especially if the rate is above $185 per night. There are a lot of other options in town. -

My husband and I stayed at the Melrose for our wedding night. We weren't going out of town until the next day, and we wanted to go someplace special. My company has a discount with the Melrose, so there we were. The price was HIGH, even with the discount, but it's a luxury hotel, so we didn't expect to pay any less. We reserved a meager room by their standards.
When we checked in, they blew our minds! They upgraded our room for free and offered to extend our stay an extra night, since we were there for part of our honeymoon! We couldn't take the extra night, but the room they upgraded us to was amazing, with much more space and a beautiful view. They even brought me a vase for my bouquet so it wouldn't wilt. It just made our special night that much more special. It couldn't have been better.
If you are on a budget (because you blew the big bucks on the room), there's a Walgreen's across the street for snacks, and Mickey's bar a few doors down is a great place for reasonable drinks. The Library was nice and all, but the drinks were crazy expensive.Listed in: Nuptial Bliss

For Dallas anyway.
I have stayed a lot of places in Dallas over the years and this is by far the most comfortable, elegant and downright relaxing hotel in the metroplex.
From the friendly bartenders to the lightly starched sheets, the whole experience is just country house comfort exemplified.
That it has proximity to some fabulous restaurants helps and the feeling that you are not really in Dallas nails it down.
Don't expect hip, bright and trendy, do expect quality, discretion and service and a lot of luxury. -
Review from Kimo P.
For Dallas, this is THE hotel to stay at esp if you are here for a weekend trip. It doesn't surpass my favorite hotel of all time (Lodge of Koele on the island of Lanai, HI) but it has such a classic flair to it that the luxurious vibe it had made it worth staying. Had a deluxe room and it was SPACIOUS! Entrance way was way too spacy and opened up to a small writing desk....bedroom area was what I expected and was very elegent. Bathroom was also huge and appeared old and classy (in a good way). Only complaint is the price of valet parking....WAY too inflated and with wish it was complimentary...but the best plus of them all...LOCATION! Very close to all the bars and restaurants and Oak Lawn making it walking distance to a fabulous night out!

The place is overall quite nice but it's just not my style. My room was well-appointed - I *love* having a vanity table in the bathroom - but everything had just a touch of shabby gentility to it. The closet is very large, but there's no interior light. The shower is fabulous, but the curtain just barely hits the top of the tub, leading to an inevitable puddle (which I hate). The bed is huge and the sheets are nice, but they've been starched or something so they're just so darn RUSTLY. The biggest downer was having to pay for internet access - are you serious?? Um, Holiday Inns have free wi-fi...
I think the place just needs an update and it will surely regain some status. -

Library Bar oozes club glamor - warm woods, luxurious rugs, splendid lighting, soft leather seating and deft drink mixing. If you are in search of a rare scotch or cognac, they have it. A gentile gem in Oak Lawn and a perfect complement to this elegant hotel.

This was by far my most memorable stay in a hotel in my entire life. I stayed here June 30 - July 2, 2002. I remember that because I had a job interview in Dallas the Monday morning after my best friend's wedding on June 29th and I drove to Dallas in a tsunami the next evening.
Top notch hotel. The valet parking guys were extremely nice, and were very good about giving me directions to places I needed to go. The bed was comfortable and I loved the terry cloth robes left for the guests to use during their stay. I think I paid $100 a night off of one of the discount travel / hotel websites.
If I had friends coming into town for the weekend, this is where I would tell them to stay. -

Stayed here for two nights for a recent work function - had a nice mini-suite with lots of room to do yoga and set up my laptop to work between meetings. The bathroom was spacious (AMAZING in a hotel these days) and the bed was comfortable and nicely decorated. Everyting appeared very clean and modern too, which is nice.
Cost was $125/night, I think we got a screaming deal because there were 30 of us. IMO, that was a great price for the room I got. Oh, it had a huge huge TV in it too, in case that matters when making these decisions about where to stay. I didn't have time to turn it on.
Used the gym which opens at 6am the two mornings I was there- it was clean and had a nice area for stretching and weights- they had three treadmills, a stationary bike and a few other machines, making it cosy but not crowded.
Location-wise it was very close to everything we needed to do, there was a nice breakfast place within walking distance, as well as a Starbucks (thank goodness, we had meeting after meeting and it was all fueled by coffee). It was also pretty close to the airport, and they had a courtesy shuttle who took us to the local restaurant for dinner.
Staff was unfailingly friendly and seemed to genuinely be kind, again not something you see much when traveling. I would stay here again if I found myself in Dallas, it was a good experience. -

Recently stay at the Melrose this past weekend. I like the hotel. Great service, very nice bed and sheets and it's smack dab in the middle of gay Dallas.
What's even better is the free car/shuttle service to nearby attractions. Sure save me and mine a few dollars when getting to dinner.
I recommend. -

Lovely. Simply lovely. The Warwick Melrose is the only place I stay when in Dallas. It is a member of the historic hotels of America and makes you feel like you are staying at a rich aunt's home rather than a hotel in the middle of an urban area. Built in 1924- it is sophisticated comfortable luxury.
You are warmly greeted when you arrive in the the lobby with the tiled floors interspersed with wood parquet flooring. They direct you to the elevator and then on to your room.
The rooms are over sized with a bar area, bedroom and sitting area, desk with large workspace, flatscreen TV and a marble bathroom complete with a "sit at" vanity, pedestal sink and high end toiletries. The beds are made with 300 count sheets and designer duvets which make going to bed on a business trip a luxurious experience. The only down side is that they still charge for wi-fi in the rooms.
I love the sumptuous fabrics as window coverings and shower curtains, the neutral carpet and the great views out of all of the windows (there were three large windows in this room alone!) Service is spot on and the staff goes out of their way to accommodate your needs. Room service came within 15 minutes and the staff was quick to pick up my tray when I was done.
Rooms can be expensive here. We have a corporate rate of $177 per night but I noticed the rack rate for that room was $295 on their website. But given all my choices in Dallas, and the proximity to the business that I have to do while there, the Warwick Melrose will get my business every time! -
Review from Claire D.
This is a really nice hotel. I have never slept in a more quiet room or in such a comfortable bed in a hotel before. We didn't get a chance to try out the food in he hotel bit we did hear it was good. The men running valet were Super helpful with directions and suggestions on where to eat. Our only complaint was the darn shower! The shower curtain wasn't long enough and even the slightest adjustment to the nozzle practically flooded the entire bathroom. I guess if you're ok wasting your towels to mop up the floor or standing in a corner to catch all the water it's ok but otherwise...maybe call the concierge and ask for extra towels ahead of time.

I know the hotel industry from the inside: I worked my way through college and grad school in hotels. The Warwick Melrose is impeccable in its cleanliness, service and attention to detail. I worked in and managed some awesome hotels, but The Melrose far outshines any hotel I've ever seen.

The Melrose is an older hotel which was returned to its former glory via an extensive renovation a few years ago. Overall, it's a very nice hotel. The lobby is very gracious and the staff extremely friendly. Rooms were a nice size, including the bathrooms. Some things were a little worn (bedspread, crack in the bathroom sink, etc.) but overall it was in good condition. Location in Dallas' Uptown/Turtle Creek neighborhood was convenient to downtown and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. I'd stay at the Melrose again, for sure.

Went to a conference at the Melrose Hotel and it was delightful. It seems like they've renovated the hotel recently and it feels very upscale. The location is terrific - near many of the best restaurants, the uptown area and, if it's your thang, the gay bars, restaurants and shops. I think it also a better value than many of the hotels in the area.

My husband and I stayed here for our fourth anniversary and our experience was wonderful. We stayed in one of the corner suites and it was actually bigger than our first apartment. With five large windows throughout the suite our views were great! Everything was extremely clean and aside from the normal soaps and shampoos you get a lot of other little free items that just make your stay more convenient. The pillows and bedding were very comfortable and smelled great. When I rang the desk to request more pillows they arrived very quickly which has been a big problem with other hotels in the past. We had drinks with friends at The Library, which is the hotels bar. The Library is a great atmosphere, dark and smoke free with live pianists and singers who give this bar a homey and inviting feel. It has been written up in Maxim Magazine as one of the best bars in Dallas and it lived up to our expectations. They have a diverse menu as well as a whole selection of drinks they have concocted their selves. We shared the shrimp cocktail which was great! Not fishy in any way and the shrimp were enormous. To drink I had the Spicy Texan, which is vodka and bloody mary mix with Tabasco and lemon juice. It was really good but an acquired taste. My husband had an amazing drink which is called The Winning Mark, one of The Library's original recipe drinks. It has Maker's Mark whiskey, Creme DE Cassis, Chambord and fresh lemon juice. Shaken and served straight up with a twist. Amazing!!!
After drinks we ate dinner at The Landmark within the hotel, it is very quiet and is lite very dimly but not too much so. The music was wonderful and together it made you feel as if you were transported into another time period. For appetizers we had the Five Spice Calamari and Lamb T-Bones. The lamb was great, tender and not gamy, complimented perfectly with mint and pears. The calamari was done a little differently, mixed together in a bowl with Asian greens and a sweet Thai vinaigrette, it was wonderful. For our entrees we both ordered the Las Lomas Ranch Angus Fillet, it was very good. The meat was not the most flavorful and tender I have had but it was still very good. The steaks were accompanied by potato pirogi, roasted forest mushroom and a cabernet demi glace. This all went very well together and the mushrooms and demi glace were amazing! For dessert we shared the Creme Brule and the Adult Cupcake. Not being a fan of creme brule I wasn't sure about the choice but this particular one won me over. It was creamy and velvety but not too sweet with strawberries, raspberries and blueberries in a glaze over the crispy candied top. It was one of the best desserts I have ever had. As for the Adult Cupcake, we had been seeing the enticing dessert featured in the elevators all day and were excited to try it finally. It is a creamy chocolate cake with ice cream, a chocolate ginache poured over topped with an obviously homemade whip cream, chocolate syrup and a cherry. It was heaven! I would recommend this hotel and it's counterparts to anyone, whether from out of town or wanting to experience the wonders your city has to offer. -

Nice place to stay, especially when you score a room for $125/night on Hotwire. I arrived at 11:00pm after a long business dinner, so can't really comment on the service, but the room was spacious, well-appointed, and the bed was comfortable. Room service arrived promptly in the morning, and the scrambled eggs were just how I like them. All in all, this adds up to a great stay while on a business trip. Hope to stay here again on future trips to the Big D.

Review from Peter B.
New York, NY
If you are in town for Board Exams, you might try staying somewhere else. My wife took her exam here in November. Let me list the service deficiences she experienced on the eve of the most important exam of her career thus far:
1) The first night my wife stayed in the hotel, she was put in a room directly under some suite with hard-surface flooring. A party in that suite roared on late into the night, with footsteps keeping my wife awake for hours. She called to complain, and the front desk said "yes, yes, there is a party being held in that suite tonight." My wife asked to either have the party shut down or to be moved to another room, to which the front desk rudely (with vocal attitude) said that there were no other rooms available. Magically, however, they found her another room. It shouldn't have been this hard, and the hotel knowing full well that physicians are staying with them prior to these important exams, they should never have put my wife in a room under the party suite.
2) She wanted to get her hair done to look professional during her exam. Instead of referring her to a high-service salon, and making a reservation for her, the concierge told her that the "gay area" was just down the block and that she should be able to find a place to get her hair done there. Shocked, she walked down the street passing tattoo parlors, and decided to investigate a salon herself on her phone. Upon getting the treatment she was looking for, she told the salon manager what the hotel concierge had said, and the manager was surprised because the Warwick had her information and should have been in a position to refer my wife to her salon, or to others. This experience was inexcusable.
3) My wife is vegetarian. While one might not expect great vegetarian options in Texas, a hotel that hosts countless physicians from all over the US should know better than to not offer vegetarian options on its menu. The night of my wife's arrival, she wanted to order room service, and had a look at the menu. She confirmed with the kitchen that, yes, the only option was to order minestrone soup and a cheese sandwich. Strike number one. My wife verbally confirmed that the minestrone had no meat in it. When the soup and sandwich arrived, both were luke warm. Being that she was hungry, however, my wife put her spoon in the bowl of soup only to find a big chunk of bacon. Not only is my wife vegetarian, but she is also Jewish, and has never eaten pig in her life. She immediately called room service to ask them to remove the tray of food from her room. They never came, and my wife put the tray in the hallway.
There is absolutely no excuse for a hotel that caters to physicians coming to Dallas for their board exams to exhibit these severe deficiencies in service. It's worth the extra money to stay elsewhere versus taking the risk that these experiences, or worse, may happen to you as well before your exam. -

My parents came to visit and stayed here (last time they were at the Mansion, so I was cringing). In the end, this was a GREAT place. Room was very nice, prices are awesome and the staff was excellent. Annoyances were parking and staff 'knowledge of concierge stuff' (could not answer many of my questions). Restaurant was good as well, but not sure I'd get that excited over it. Given the price we got, I cannot say enough about the value for such a nice property and quality room. It is old, but location is excellent for any budget conscious traveler looking for a full-service hotel.

Review from Peter T.
Brookhaven, PA
I had planned a trip to Dallas to visit college friends and was looking for a luxury hotel in a great location. On paper, the Warwick Melrose Hotel looked like the perfect place. It is a restored historic property conveniently located in the Oak Lawn/ Up Town part of Dallas and is within walking distance to various shops, bars, clubs, and restaurants. I found the hotel charming albeit not as "grand" as I had imagined. I wanted to love this hotel but, unfortunately, my stay was marred by a series of bad experiences.
First off, the valet only parking can be frustrating if you are only getting picked up and dropped off by friends. There is no short-term self parking so if your guests want to check out your room or visit you then they have to go through the valet. The valet is supposed to be free if you do not park it overnight and get the ticket validated in the hotel. Consequently, I was very surprised when I was charged more than $40 in overnight parking fees. Whenever I was picked up by friends, they were never parked for more than half-an-hour and we always got the ticket validated. One time, we where in and out so quickly that the valet still had the eyes in the car. I disputed the charges at check-out and the front desk attendant was able to remove them.
I wanted to believe that the parking debacle was an honest mistake or just a fluke but when I returned home I noticed another mysterious charge on my credit card. I had a $16 charge that I could not account for so I called the hotel to inquire about it. I was told by the front desk manager than in an audit of my mini bar items were found to be missing. I know for a fact that neither me nor my friends had taken anything from the mini bar. The manager told me that the mini bars are audited everyday and that the items went missing on Sunday since they noticed it on their Monday audit after I had checked out. Strangely, that Sunday I got a call from housekeeping asking if and when I would like my room cleaned. I told them to come back around 5pm as I would be gone the majority of the evening. Coincidence...I think not! Needles to say, I was and continue to be livid about this as I had left a generous tip for housekeeping. The hotel would not remove the charge and told me to dispute it with my credit card company. So I called Amex and they were gracious enough to do just that. Gotta love Amex!
To continue with my rant, some friends and I went to check out the hotel's Library Bar on a Saturday night. The service and entertainment were great but the drinks were pretty awful. I ordered a vodka tonic and one of my friends got a vodka coke. The vodka they used tasted horrible and was barely drinkable. I had to let the ice melt before I could bare to finish the drink. For $8, I expect my drink to be decent if not great.
Overall I would not recommend this hotel. Yes, they have nicely decorated rooms and beautiful oversize bathrooms but you can get that at other hotels without all the hassles of this one. I've stayed at both higher and lower end hotels in comparison to the Melrose and have never had these problems with improper charges.
Pros: Location, oversize bathroom with vanity, room service
Cons: valet only parking, bogus charges and having to deal with them long after your stay has ended, insufficient lighting in bathroom, loud street noises.
