Review from Eric B.
I was here back in October 2006 as part of my Earthwatch trip (Climate Change at Arctic's Edge) at the Churchill Northern Studies Center under Dr. Pete Kershaw. Pete gave us 1 day of in our 10-day project, so we made good use of it by going to town and later going on a Tundra Buggy. We also visited Miss Piggy (the old downed plane), Cape Merry, the Eskimo Museum, and the exhibit at the VIA Train Station.
The town is pretty easy to walk around and on this day near Canadian Thanksgiving it was windy, snowy and cold. Never go to Canada without having your layers handy.
The Wapusk General Store was a great place to pick up a few gifts for the folks at home. It's kind of at the edge of town, but the neat looking log cabin invites you in.
The owners also run Wapusk Adventures, which I hear is Churchill's largest dog sled tour provider. This includes the 'Ididamile' dog sled experience.
