Review from Jennifer K.
Markham, ON
I have to give Wanlee Xin a 3.5 stars rounding up to a 4 stars because it is one of the best Hakka (indian, Pakistan Style) restaruants I been too.
It is a relatively small restaurant located in the same plaza at T&T Middlefield. They have a great selections for lunch specials starting from $4.99.
I decide on the Chilli Chicken with rice that comes with pop or tea, wonton soup and spring roll ($5.99). As usual I request it as extra spicy.
I have to tell you this is the only place that make it so spicy with tons of fresh chilli all chopped up! Those green things in my photos are chilli..not green bean :)! The portion is huge.. I can only finish half of it...The chicken is soft and tender and not too oily, not like someplace that has it overcooked in the deep fryer. It is also served pipping hot fresh from the wok!
The wonton soup and spring roll just standard but is a nice touch.
The waitstaffs here are nice and friendly... yes they do smile at me.. :) The service is so fast, great place if you in a rush.
They accepts Visa, Mastercard and Interac for under $15 there will be a $1 surcharge. -

Wanlee Xin Chinese Restaurant is a good restaurant. for people who are in the neighbourhood.
These are some of the best dishes:
the rice noodle dishes (flat, white, soft, wide noodles)
fried rice
egg omelette (egg foo young)
beef or chicken dishes
pan fried dry shrimps or seafood with chili (spicy)
eggplant with garlic sauce
the noodle dishes
pakora (spicy balls)
fried rice cake (rice cake are small oval shape rice flour pasta)
mixed with chicken, etc
spicy chunky beef noodle soup
hot and sour soup
I haven't tried all their dishes so I can't comment on them
They offer fresh lobster
They have a new paper take-out menu with some new dishes
- example: curry pad thai (fresh soft, white rice noodles with chicken and shrimp, etc)
If you want SPICY food, tell them that you want spicy food
and also tell them what spice you prefer
(example: red chili flakes, curry, garlic, etc)
If you don't want spicy food, tell them that you don't want spicy food.
The dishes that I didn't like were:
- Cantonese fried noodles
(usually Cantonese fried noodles uses light yellow EGG NOODLES
but this restaurant uses some kind of white noodles
- looks like LAI FUN noodles?.
The dish tasted okay - just don't expect to see the usual Cantonese fried egg noodle dish.
The chop suey noodle dish.
At other restaurants, chop suey noodle dish sort of resembles Cantonese fried egg noodles with a fried egg on top.
This restaurant uses some kind of white noodles ( LAI FUN noodles?) and no fried egg on top.
The dish was alright but don't expect to see a fried egg or light yellow egg noodles.
I didn't like their sweet and sour fish
- the sauce was a bit bland
- the deep fried fish fillet should be crispier
The decor of the restaurant is VERY PLAIN
This restaurant would be more popular if they had more attractive looking furniture.
There are booths and big round tables.
A lot of the customers get take-out food from the restaurant.
This restaurant offers free delivery for orders over $30.
10% off take-out orders over $20.
