I had a terrible experience here. I've been going to the same salon in Port Credit for a long time, but after moving downtown I wanted to try something new. This place was in my neighbourhood and looked nice so I thought I'd give it a try. I went to my appointment just hoping to re-touch my highlights and maybe add in some low-lights for winter.
My stylist (I can't remember her name unfortunately..) seemed extremely unqualified and just generally aloof about the entire process. She asked me the same questions repeatedly and ignored all of my mandatories (i.e I did not want all over colour, did not want anything 'warm', did not want to go dark). She did all of the above to me. She died my entire head one warm, copper colour. I was mortified. She could tell I was visibly upset by the outcome and immediately became defensive telling me she "didn't have much to work with" and that I shouldn't be blonde in the first place. From there, she went on to try convincing me my hair WAS blonde, although my best reference for colour would be a penny. She refused to fix my hair on the spot, telling me she had no time. I left in tears after paying nearly $250 for colour alone.
Later that week (and with the persuasion of my colleagues) I called the salon and asked for a refund. They begrudgingly agreed after putting me on hold for nearly 10 minutes. I went in to the salon to retrieve my money and they were less than friendly. The associate told me the manager wasn't in and that I'd have to come back. I said absolutely not. She finally reimbursed me the full amount, but not before chatting with the stylist in front of me (who again, was extremely rude). I left feeling uncomfortable about the whole situation and lack of respect offered to me. I will never go back and wouldn't recommend the experience to anyone.

I've been to multiple salons but this one was not particularly one of my favourites.

I did end up with a great cut, but didn't get what I asked for in colour, and my stylist was late for the appointment.

The people at the front desk were nice and they have plently of appointments available however I was expecting "one of the best salons in toronto" and I certainly did not get it. Not to mention you are paying top dollar.

I go to W regularly and have never had a bad haircut. All their stylists are great and consistently do a good job while being friendly and warm. However, I had an appointment at 3 pm on Saturday. They called at about noon and said they had to push it back until 4. It worked with my schedule so I agreed. When I showed up at 3:55, they told me they had to push my appointment back until 6. When I asked if there was anyone who could take me earlier (considering they had already pushed back my appointment) they said no and were rude about it. They were able to fit me in at 5:15, but it was super annoying to be continually pushed back and given poor customer service. In the end, the stylist was apologetic and did a great job, so it all worked out.

terrible experience. i figured since this place has good reviews, i decides to get my hair done at this place. Turns out when i had my hair dyed... No colour showed up and i wasn't satisfied & left to pay $110. Christine the colourist told me she could not get my hair in any shade lighter. But i have dyed my hair before and it went to a lighter colour. This is the biggest rip off and wish i had my money back.

A reformed 'salon slut', i used to visit a different place for every haircut, and then several years ago I met Trancis at W and everything changed.  A Senior Stylist, Trancis has incredible talent, and he has that unique ability to bring your personality out in your hair.  If I'm not exactly sure what I want, I give him free reign, and he never disappoints.  I usually book evening appointments, and it's not uncommon for Trancis to crack open a nice bottle of red to sip on while he does his thing.  And sometimes his adorable little Chihuahua Elvis is at the salon.....too cute!!

The salon itself (decor, vibe, etc.), is ok....I think it needs to be refreshed, personally, but the stylists are definitely what keep people coming back, and referring their friends.  The rest of the staff will all treat you well, too.

I usually have to book my appointment a minimum of 1 week in advance; sometimes more if I want a particularly busy day and time slot  like Friday evening.  Trancis is a popular guy!

Bottom line: I have awesome hair, and if you want awesome hair, too - visit Trancis!

For the past week, I have been researching for a new hair salon and I'm extremely happy I settled on this salon!

(Note: My hair has been cut by Top Cuts several times...every time was not a complete disappointment, since I knew the price I pay is what I will get... but they never grow out nicely.)

This is the first time I ever went to a pricey hair salon and I can clearly see the difference.

My stylist spend two hours doing my hair (including wash), but it amazed me to see how precise she was! She was very skilled with her techniques! I brought in a photo of a hair cut I wanted and I knew for sure, it won't look exactly like it, since my hair was very thick. In the end, it turned out really well...not exactly like the photo (of course), but fitted to my faceshape and hairtype!

I'm extremely happy with this experience and will for sure return back!

I've been going to W for more than 10 years for cut and colour, and can't say enough about how much I love that place. I have had different stylists/colourists over the years but they have all been wonderful, and I can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience. Walter and his team are skilled and attentive but also have fun. For those looking for a high-quality cut and/or colour in an unpretentious, fun atmosphere, W is the perfect find.

I've been to W a couple of times and both times I was pleased and impressed. On one occasion I felt particularly interactive and chatty, and this worked well with my stylist, Rodrigo -- he was a wealth of information, I recall, and offered to lend me some books on the subject at hand. On another occasion, I was moody and not open to conversation. The stylist (I forgot her name!!!) was wise enough not to pry. It was all business.

Oh, did I forget to talk about the hair? Well, I consider the salon a full body experience, sooo...deal with it:)

Rodrigo specializes in curly cuts so I went to him on the recommendation of a friend. I recall liking the outcome but wishing for something, dare I say, more adventurous!? Same with the second stylist I saw at W.

I appreciated the professionalism and treatment at this place. Both stylists gave me really sleek, sharp cuts that made me look quite fancy if I do say so myself. I would go back but I've found someone who I think is a little bit more funky with a sleek edge (Mas'oud Houshmand, the apple of my hair's eye)

I tried out W almost a year ago on the advice of a coworker...basically I was looking for a fun place to get my hair did that wouldn't break the bank.
    snip snip snip
    SUCCESS!

I'm now loyal to Nina, who is an absolute darling and lots of fun to chat with. Always been happy with the cut/colour (especially since I usually walk in with no idea what I want).

The only downsides? I usually have to wait a while...not sure if they book me too early or what. Once they were like 30 minutes late and it really sucked. Also, the uber-loud dance music can be a little obnoxious...then again, I usually leave wanting to party, so maybe that's not a total downside after all?

    Okay,

So I've been to W Lifestyle now twice and both times it was amazing.  Working in the beauty industry myself I take any and all opportunities to sing the praises of this salon.
They are all totally sweet and helpful, and my hair has never looked better.

Hum. I have to scale my rating back down a bit. My last haircut didn't give me the WHOA-STAND-BACK wow factor, so probably not returning again, mainly because of the price point.

I have been getting my hair done at W Salon for over two years now. Before then I would go to a variety of barbershops in the city and would get a variety of haircuts because of my inconsistency. But my friend hooked me up with my current hairstylist and I couldn't imagine myself going to anyone else -- she is amazing, funny, sweet and I look forward to seeing her. I am sure some of the other people who frequent this salon are also very loyal to their hairstylists as well. The location is convenient and the girl who takes my appointment and takes care of me when I arrive is also wonderful. It costs me three times as much as it used to be to get a haircut (compared to old timey barbershops) but I look like a million bucks!

If you are looking for a great hair cut for under $50 this is THE PLACE. NINA is amazing and know exactly what she's doing. This Queen St. salon is surprising laid back and non-intimidating, given the tres hip location. Definitely worth checking out, and speaking from experience (I've had many a bad haircut!) you won't be disappointed.

Just got a 2nd haircut at W Salon, so I feel like I can officially give a good and fair opinion of the service and quality, which are both ranked high. My stylist knew exactly what he was doing - what risk to take and what not to.  I have crazy, thick amount of hair, and he rolled up his sleeve and got to work. Not too chatty and focused on work, which I appreciate. Especially since I went after a long day of work, wasn't really into the whole talking ordeal and just wanted to chillax.  By the time I was done, my hair was smooth, silky, and shiny. My stylist was happy with his work, and I was a pleased and content customer.

I walked in with a MASSIVE knot in my hair left over from Bonnaroo and from then just built up. I asked to get a wash and blow dry, and someone to comb my hair out... The receptionist immediately booked me with Peter. Within a half an hour Peter was tackling my hair and uncombed what I thought was impossible to do. I may have lost a lot of hair along the way but it was straight and beautiful once again! I really liked that he cared not to hurt me, and cared to make me feel comfortable. No salon chit chat, no attitude or misplaced, over the top friendlyness. Just Him, the brush, and the task to make it as easy as possible for me. So good!
