I find it so difficult to find a stylist that I like and trust. When I find a good one, I'll stick with em for years and years and... well, anyway, when Jen at Vivid moved to BC, I was a bit distraught, but she mailed all her clients a sweet note saying goodbye, offering 15% off for your next cut, and introducing the other stylists.
With that offer, I asked for someone who could rock my short hair (I had let Jen chop off over a foot of my locks on a whim), and booked an appointment with Melissa. This girl is legit. None of that "well let's just see how you do with a compromise of what you really want done to your hair and maybe next time I'll cut it how you actually want" crap. Do I wanna hawk? Go for it. Shall we shave the side? Done. Growing it out now? She magically helps me avoid the awkward stages, with regular (complimentary!) cleanups.
Everyone's friendly, the receptionists get to know you by name, the waiting area has baked goodies and someone always offers you a coffee. I only recently discovered they have their own parking on the west side of the building - silly me, I was going a few blocks east to find street parking!
Let's hope Melissa doesn't move away now - I love what she's done with my hair, and I'm happy to be staying at the same salon.
