As we plan our wedding, we hadn't considered it an option to hire a wedding planner. We expect our wedding to be fairly simple (although it keeps getting less simple as time progresses) and we aren't rich. Two things that negate a wedding planner. But, we decided to go and hear the pitch anyway.
We sat down with Visual Concepts to discuss our needs and ideas and get feedback from them. Make no mistake, they are thorough. They brought up ideas and concerns that we hadn't even thought about. And they had a great selection of photographs to back up both their work and visually explain some of their ideas.
The meeting wasn't without it's drawbacks. The lady we were speaking with loves crystals. You could tell she firmly believes that all weddings should use crystals. My fiance doesn't want crystals. Unfortunately, we had to reiterate that several times (a few more times than is comfortable). Just a thought here, but if the bride-to-be clearly states "no crystals", you should probably stop suggesting it.
After coming up with a list of items we'd like to see at our wedding, we went into their small showcase room to look at some floor covers, vases, and other such things. It was a good opportunity to get more ideas and see the quality of the items they carry.
Once we had seen enough, we sat down again as they went over our list to ensure they had everything. I liked this as it showed they wanted to make sure we got everything we wanted (I'm pretty sure she suggested crystals again though, but I could have imagined that). We left with the understanding that a quote would come via email.
Approximately a week later we received the quote. Much to our surprise, the price quoted was about half of what we expected. Still out of our price range, but much less expensive than we thought. It was a great experience and the price was reasonable. My mom will be planning her wedding soon, and I will strongly recommend Visual Concepts to her.
