I needed some advice on consumer video cameras for a work project (note: I am not a videographer, nor do I have the desire to be one. However, video projects always seem to find their way to my office). I wasn't getting the professional advice at London Drugs or the big box electronics stores, so I called Vistek. One of their sales people spent close to half an hour helping me over the phone, and the service got even better when I visited the store. They helped me find a camera in my price range that would be compatible with the editing software I have at work. Though I could have saved $50 at Future Shop, I went out of my way to buy a camera at Vistek, and I will from now on. The guys know their stuff. Not only did they give me the technical advice I needed, they helped me to be a little more comfortable when working with video.

To put it simply, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME SHOPPING HERE!
Vistek is over priced. In most cases, just a little research will have you shopping at a better store with way better prices.
The manager has seems to have no desire to improve his stores customer service and his own attitude towards it is something he should be embarrassed about. Business and the dollar come first in his books and a happy customer is way down that list.
I could go on and on but they are no longer worth my time. I will never shop here nor should you.
(Try McBain one block away or Cine AV if it's for video needs. Even Black's is better. Or Don Camera. All much better options.) -

Before you go to a small speciality shop or off to a big box electronics store, come check out this place - or at very least do yourself a favour and go to their website and do a price comparison. Part of my job is to find the place with the lowest prices possible on printing and photographic equipment and time and time again I find myself going with Vistek.
The store itself is a few blocks north of Grant McEwan on 109th Street - the staff are friendly and helpful and again, you'll be doing yourself a favour as far as the prices are concerned - the store is more focused towards the professional as far what they stock, but if it's higher end gear you're looking for, this is where you want to go! -

A high end store for people who care about their photographic work. I came in to browse and was astounded by the selection of gear and accessories that ranged from camera bags to lenses to paper and display materials. There is a lot of staff milling about and they are knowledgeable. Prices seemed reasonable as far as high end equipment goes. The camera selection included point and shoots as well as digital SLRs, so there really is something for everyone. If I had more time I would definitely have taken a closer look at everything Vistek has to offer.
