After calling around to 4 or 5 downtown optometrist offices, I found this one to be the most reasonably priced. My eye exam was 60$. With this, you get a $20 credit towards frames or lenses. I found the doctor that examined my eyes to be very personable and extremely thorough.
Once the exam was through, I found out they could offer me lenses for my already purchased frames for 130$! With the discount - 110$ including anti glare & scratch protection coating. Really great bang for my buck if you ask me. Not only this, when I dropped off my frames, they said it would only take 3 days to have them ready for me. I will be picking them up this Saturday, and based on previous reviews, expect the lenses to be of good quality.
I'm glad to have found a small business that is conveniently located (for me at least) with good prices & service. -

Did I enter the same store as my fellow yelpers, I cant believe this business is getting such high star ratings.
First of all the place is a disarray of what looks to be very cheap frames sort of spewed around in open glass cases, with no particular organization, care or let alone presentation.
The showcases were open for the public to see , so basically they were being put back wherever and staff wasnt particularly interested in placing frames back in any order or in any placement. It just showed lack of interest for thier products and inevitably the client.
Sure frames were affordable but why would I buy a frame that has been humanhandled by 100s of people, smudged and sometimes bent out of shape. It made me want to go someplace else and pay more for frames where I know that they have been treated with respect and care.
Not only was the place like a cheap eyeglass stand acting like a eyeglass store, the staff person dealing with me didnt even know what she was carrying, I asked her specific questions about certain designers and all she said was I dont know.
Mirror placement is awkward too. Who want to go to the other side of a store just to see yourself. If I needed a work out I would have gone to my gym
Not a Pleased yelper or client nonetheless took my business elsewhere. -

I love Visions. I've been going to the same optometrist for the last 11 years, and he still insists on telling about his successful daughter who holds an MBA from University of Chicago.
I love his assistant, Winny. I always thought she was pretty when I was younger and she hasn't seemed to age a bit. She always helps me find a nice pair of glasses out of the large, out-dated selection. Lately, I haven't been able to find a nice pair at Visions because they don't carry many eclectic frames.
My most recent hunt for glasses started at Brass Monocle. I found three pairs that I loved. I wrote them down on a list, called Winny and asked her if she could order any of them in. She was able to order a pair of titanium frames by a Danish design company, AND she sold them to me at a MUCH cheaper price than I would have paid at Brass Monocle.
I've always had great service and amusing eye appointments. On top of that, my contact lenses are cheeeeeaaap! I have to knock a star off for the poor selection of frames. You really have to hunt to find something good. -

Getting a new pair of glasses is a major investment - it's a decision that I'll be committed to for a couple of years at least.
I've purchased multiple pairs of glasses here over the years and have always been satisfied.
Terrific selection of frames here at reasonable prices. And if you're set on something that's not in the store, they're happy to bring it in for you.
Bargaining, while normally frowned upon in North America, seems to be totally acceptable here. I can understand how that might turn some people off, but it makes me feel like I'm travelling in Asia all over again!
By far the best prices on glasses that I've found in the city. (The exception is online stores, but really, I need to be able to try on A LOT of pairs before I can settle on any one frame.)
Sometimes I even come by to browse when I'm not in the market for a new pair!
