An awesome selection of quality vinyl at decent prices. Most of my favourite music comes on vinyl - that's the way it was meant to be heard - so I can see I'll be coming here a lot. Also, the guy was nice about letting me bring my dog into the store, on a leash, of course, when he saw me standing near the doorway as I was waiting for my husband to source out some Floyd and Beatles.
They have some newer records, hip-hop and pop, don't ask me to name it. I also saw lots of Boney M, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Bee Gees, and musicals and TV soundtracks... There's a big selection of genres beyond my dorky taste. Hey, I won't judge your music.
So happy I finally got my old turntable fixed! -

Hard to find anything when the store's so messy and the owner was condescending.
Not for me. -

(Editing my review because I feel my last one came off as critical without being respectful.)
I'm giving Vinyl 2 stars because it fits Yelp's guideline of "Meh. I've experienced better." They have a large selection of used records, and like every used record seller, you generally don't find exactly what you're looking for, but you do find a lot of unexpected things that you didn't know you wanted. And their selection is huge.
The big caveat here is the prices. Maybe I'm spoiled by Amoeba in LA and Rasputin in Berkeley, but the prices here aren't in line with the used record market at large. Albums I have that are still wearing their $1.99 price tags from Amoeba are going for upwards of $15 at Vinyl.
I want to like this store, and perhaps there's a haggle policy that I'm not familiar with (and truthfully wouldn't be interested in), but paying $15 for an old XTC record that I can get for a dollar or two on my next trip to LA just doesn't work with my budget.Comment from David J. of Vinyl Records 4/19/2011

I've been visiting this store every once in a while for the last seven or so years and I usually manage to come home with some shiny new (or new to me) vinyl, including several rare Beatles finds. Dave has always been knowledgeable, helpful and definitely passionate about vinyl. You can tell he puts a lot of time and energy into researching, organizing and posting records to the store website. Thousands (upon thousands) of records are meticulously organized, categorized into sub-genres (any genre you can think of) or individual artists. If you can't find what you're looking for, Dave (or his other staff) can point you in the right direction, but its just as easy (and fun) to get lost browsing through the endless selection. If you like to browse, be sure to leave yourself lots of time, as there is lots to see.
Prices for brand new vinyl about par with websites like Amazon if you factor in shipping costs - and you don't have to wait 4-6 weeks for delivery and you get to support a local business. Rare collectibles cost me equal to what I would have paid on eBay. And there are even bins for the bargain hunters ranging from about $2-$10.
My reason for rating this store at four stars and not five is the massive volume of vinyls as they make the store look cluttered take up so much space that the aisles are quite small which makes it a bit difficult to get around if there are a few people browsing in the same section.
Overall, my experiences have been fantastic and I am certain I will continue to be a regular customer for many years to come. -

I would like to come back in here when I have a day off. I spent a lunch hour perusing the rows of bins, and was in bewilderment every time I looked up. This place has every available space filled with records. I don't know how there is room for any more. I love the fact that records are grouped by smaller genres, such as 80s dance 12" singles, or collectible 70s soul. This lets you find music you wouldn't have otherwise considered looking for. The trouble is that you really have to go through many different areas if you are looking for a specific artist, so get ready to spend some time and get those fingers dirty. I find the prices to be quite a bit high, and I would only really buy something if it's rare or if I'd been looking for it for while. Have a 50% off sale, and I'll schedule my vacation day accordingly.

Theres not a lot that you cant find in any of the other record stores on these shelves, unless youre talking about prices. They have ridiculous prices on every selection, meaning youre not coming here to impulse buy that beat up, hardly playing copy of Exhile on Main St for $20. They also stock an assortment of vinyl turntables that will play music fast, slow, backwards... just about any which way you want them to in high fidelity. Plus they sound much better than anything you can find at London Drugs. if you really must have a certain something that no one else seems to, or youre looking for some sweet DJ swag, then give this place a look. Otherwise...
I must mention that their turntable selection allows you to preview any record you find in private, which is unique (and very appreciated) to some of the other stores in the city.Listed in: RECORD STORE DAY!

They got a decent Michael Jackson box, but the prices were sky high to the eye.

i consider the prices to be on the very high end, i suppose if i wasn't price-concious i would shop here. the owner is passionate and knows a lot about record. since this place has been in business for as long as it has i guess they must be doing something right.

crate digging galore. the prices are pretty steep but i was feeling the variety they had. owning a record store is one of those things i daydream about often, so when i see an element of a store that i really like, i hold fast to it. at this particular one, i appreciated the fact they had a listening booth to check out your music before purchasing it, and they had some new and decent gemini tables.. i didn't dig too deep into looking for rare vinyls because i was in a hurry, but next time i will be sure to check. but so far, so good.

If you can handle the clutter, you are absolutely certain to come up with something that you were dying to hear here. This store is packed full of classics, funk, jazz, punk, new wave...just about anything your ears have been aching to hear can be found here. The prices are reasonable, and although this might not be the most relaxing shopping atmosphere (clutter, mess, noise), there is a lot of great music here, and you'll also find turntables, needles, headphones and they sell concert tickets too.
