One of my favourite vintage stores in the city.

    VIBE
It's got a bit of a musty smell and the signage is a bit confusing (It's called Vintage Mix 1 but the sign says Vintage 1). Staff are quiet but friendly. I also love the layout here Dresses in the front for the ladies. Bags, shoes and stuff for the gents in the back. Make sure to check close to the cashier for the gems.

    THE GOODS
It's hit and miss but I got a wonderful Japanese vintage floral dress from here that I get compliments on all of the time. The dress selection is pretty good especially if you're looking for summer. I really like their shoes (they tend toward smaller sizes though). And if you need a vintage couch, it's here.

    OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK
A good mix! Mandatory stop on the Ossington crawl.

I have a soft spot for vintage clothing.

To some people, the idea of wearing formerly worn clothes invokes an "eww" reaction but to others, including yours truly, a "what a find!" response is uttered when discovering a beautiful original item. The latter reaction usually occurs whenever I step into Vintage Mix 1 Clothing.

As one of a small handful of vintage stores found on the Ossington strip, Vintage Mix 1 has a large array of clothing and accessories for both men and women. Not focused on a particular era in fashion, you can find dresses from 60s and 70s to cute evening clutches, from cowboy boots to a trunk full of cheap belts. Most of all of the items are reasonably priced which is a bonus when vintage shopping.

Old prints from the 50s to the 80s decorate the walls and while there are a lot of items, the store is big and long so it doesn't feel cluttered. Be sure to go all the way to the back of the store to see certain sale items such as glassware and turntables.

It's very hard to not spend a penny or two at this store, let alone walk by without some  "unknown" force pulling you inside. Instead of fighting it, I've just learned to accept it and keep a few dollars in my wallet on hand.

Whoa, this place was pretty awesome. I find that most vintage stores inspire a somewhat polarized reaction in me; they either seem too expensive and contrived, or i want to hang out in there all day.

The prices in here were pretty good, for the most part, considering its obvious cool factor. What I appreciated is that the more expensive pieces actually seemed worth it, and better than what I could find in my neighbourhood Value Village for five bucks, which is not often the case with these kinda joints. What I loved the most was how frigging gigantic it was once I went in, it just seemed to keep going and going way back into eternity. It felt like entering somebody's very awesomely-decorated retro bungalow.

The displays were cute and interesting, cowboys and torsos and rows of carefully-sorted shoes and black and white photos on the wall, and belts and chests and knick-knacks everywhere, but in this large space it felt very appropriate and not overdone. There was considerable room to breathe, and browse and plenty to search through, and even a sale rack for $15! One day soon, I will go in and actually spend enough time to see *everything* in the store, and friends, I am both excited and nervous about the consequences.

Another vintage shop on Ossington, this one is an original as it has been here since I moved to Toronto in May 2006.  It is a fun shop with clothing, accessories and some home furnishings.  This shop was known for its selection of boots but I find the boot stock isn't as it used to be since people have being buying up 80s/90s boots for the last couple of years.  But good times can be had here looking through the stock and I always enjoy their window display.

the search for Medoris bike basket took me up the street from CAMH and through the old ossington haunts... void of the historic karoake bars, its aura is now replaced with vintage shops and cute pub cafes.

my search for vintage luggage ended at Vintage1 and the charming Yoko, a Japanese muse with a cute english accent  was stylish and offered many options as she listened intently on my vision.

i have my eye on the baby blue case. as a 50% sale starts august 1
